Had a reggae concert here for the artist Fiona. The venue set up is when you walk there's a bar followed by the dance floor, then the stage. The men's restroom is located on the first floor while the women's restroom is located on the 2nd floor. There's a small green room area located by the women's restroom. The downside is that there's really no privacy in the green room area. The best way to describe it is like an open loft. It's a cool place for concerts, but the women's restroom on the 2nd floor is a no no. There's needs to be security by the green room area because anyone can walk there. read more

Would not recommend coming here. Came here on a Friday at 10:20PM, thinking it would be open since on Google it mentioned that it opens at 9, they actually open at 10:30 and we got turned away. Came after it opened since there's no cover and no one was there and we got a drink and stayed there for around 30 minutes. No one came during that time and we left. In terms of drinks, got an expresso martini for ~$14 made with Nescafé instant coffee powder served in a disposable plastic cup. Overall, would not recommend. read more

Have you ever had a terrible experience without even having to go to the place? Won a giveaway tonight (last minute notification) for VIP PASSES, BOTTLE OF CHAMPAGNE, and TABLE SPACE and this club literally ruins my friends and my night! My friends also wasted money on Uber rides in hopes to enjoy a nice evening out with VIP seating and bottle service, and boy were they wrong. They respond back hours later stating that they only accept the giveaway claims at 7pm ( which they never informed me from the get go) and then they said they'll take back the champagne offer and only give us free cover! Wtf we can get free cover before 10:30 In general and cover is only $10 anyways! Lack of accountability, no empathy, unorganized, and hidden agendas made this giveaway not worth it one single bit. I was messaged at 4:06pm about my winning the giveaway and was essentially given 2 hrs 54 mins to respond and find 5 other people to join me (on a Friday evening, mind you!), and I didn't even know that 7pm was the deadline. I was told for the very first time about the 7pm deadline to claim the win, at 9:30pm (2 hrs AFTER the fact!) This was hands down the most effed up giveaway I've ever been a part of, and I've entered tons of giveaways; this certainly takes the cake for the absolute worst. We had a table and I noticed that the staff kept on checking how many used glasses we have and replacing them without us asking them.  The downside: the floor was sticky all over the club. I luckily won a bottle service for Opal Social Club giveaway on Instagram! I recommend checking their Instagram for events and giveaways that are happening. They have a few deals like the $5 Cazadores shot deals on Fridays and alcoholic boba happy hour from 9-10 PM! Besides Cazadores shots and champagne, I tried the Bootea Me Down SIP Alcoholic Boba (Mango Green Tea + Tequila) and it was pretty good! You can't really taste the alcohol in the drink, but it is very sugary/sweet. I think I would've liked this as a regular mixed drink and take out the boba! The honey boba was chewy, and surprisingly well for it being at a nightclub. My first thought after leaving the club was that the service here is amazing! All the workers were very attentive and made my girl group feel safe! This would be a great spot for those who want to go out but not go into a super crowded club. My only concern about this place is that the bathrooms are pretty nasty. Like "I'll wait to go home and use the restroom" or worse than a gas station nasty. Came with some friends to see their favorite DJ and we were really disappointed with some of the lack of clarity surrounding the event. I had bought VIP tickets along with them for the event which was supposed to allow you to skip the line. We got there around 11pm during the event and were caught off guard by the 20$ cover fee. This was really surprising for us since on the event site where we bought tickets, the other ticket types specifically mentioned this cover fee (or rather mentioned that it was free before 10pm or so), while the vip tickets did not. Because of when we showed up, there was no line anyways, so we ended up paying about 250$ collectively for pretty much nothing, which at that point if my 30$ ticket is wasted, at least don't also include the cover fee. Not to mention, drinks took forever and the bartenders weren't super attentive, especially the back bar - which was surprising since there was less people compared to the circular bar up in front. Pretty standard drinks and a little on the smaller side for the price. read more

Saw some people even in sweats (what happened to the dress code?) I admit I was more casual than usual that evening (black jeans, black heels, & a cute tank top) -- it was cold. In the past, I would definitely wear a mini dress with high heels or whatever. But back to the review... So I go to the bar to order a shot for my friend & I (we like kamikaze shots because they're more light than say, a tequila shot) and the bartender is like, "we don't make those here." She did not offer to make me something similar- like a lemondrop or something? So I order two vodka cranberrys instead... it was like $17 each! Or maybe $18? - trying to remember my credit card charge. That is way overpriced! After tipping that comes out to almost $20 for a drink? No thanks. We wanted to try the alcoholic boba and ordered our drinks during the stated happy hour period. When showing the male bar tender working the boba bar our e-mail showing happy hour is $5 drinks his response to our group was "oh those emails are retarded. And the drinks are $7" We weren't stressed about the price but his response was disrespectful and rude. We do not condone the use of the R word and my group didn't spend over $700 on tables to get treated that way. this was around 10PM Saturday 8/6 the only Male bar tender at the boba bar. Opal has so much potential as a newer club but I'd rather wait until management makes some changes before I come back. Not sure if my experience was a one-off thing, but the club was dead despite being a Saturday night. The DJs... needed some practice. A+ decor and A++ security though! My lovely lovely friend was hosting at Opal and brought 13-14 ish girls and maybe 5 guys. The requirement to host was to bring minimum 12 girls to get a free table and free bottle. The only problem is that each table is incredibly small and the tables are placed close together. There was barely enough room for 5 people at the table, let alone accommodate the size of the party we brought. The size of the table would not have been as much of an issue if the dance floor was more inviting. Around midnight, the club was still pretty much empty :( A handful of people were scattered on the dance floor, with most people gathering around the bars. It felt awkward to dance when the club was quiet and the dance floor even more quiet. The opening DJ also didn't help as he kept skipping songs in the middle and not blending songs together. The main DJ was less choppy but still repetitive. Highlight of my night was the security! I had to leave the club early (to rest for some Sunday errands) and like an idiot, tried leaving the club alone. One of the security guards walked me to my car to make sure I was safe. I was not drinking since I knew I had to drive myself home, but I still appreciated the guards making sure I was sober and could walk properly. I've never felt so safe leaving a club before :) Security was amazing. read more

Went there for opening night for Y2K Friday and came back a few weeks ago. Opening night was crowded and so much fun. My friends and I had a good time and the music selection was pretty good. For a Saturday night, it wasn't the most crowded. I haven't been to the downtown Mountain View scene for several years.l, and it has definitely changed. The bartenders were great, but the club scene was almost embarrassing. The dj was good at times but really needs to learn how to read crowds. The music selection was ok at best. Knowing that the club is only open for 4 hours, the music selection should have been better. As a former dj, I mixed up my music, playing everything at my disposal. Now, it is easier to get some popular mash up music which would still incorporate new and old music. Came to visit a friend in the Bay and she mentioned that Arena recently bought this club and it was grand opening weekend. I was excited since I already love all their venues in SoCal. There was a pretty long line that night but our host, Snappy, was able to put our group of girls on the guest list which was super awesome because we didn't need to wait too long to finally get in! Atmosphere was great! I just got back from Opal tonight and I wasn't impressed; the dance floor was dead, the music wasn't euphoric and the people were lazy to dance, all of them were just sitting down. Like come on, it's a Saturday night and get your groove on! I think I have to give this place a chance though because this is thanksgiving weekend, so maybe people were away. Also note the men's bathroom is downstairs and the women's bathroom is upstairs (club has two floors). The upstairs has a lounge area, but it was closed off. I used to come here regularly. Everything has changed about this club since the new management took over. The music is no longer what it used to be. They dont being good DJs anymore. The drinks are pricey and not good at all. The worst thing is, they don't let us come back even if we decide to step out briefly. The only thing improved so far is the security. Somehow the old club, the crowd was better so really the security was enough to begin with. Anyways, took some guests over with us last night, and I embarrassed myself for not doing my homework and should have taken them elsewhere. Never going back anymore. This review is for this past Friday's game night. I am new in town and very shy, but I saw a post about game night and thought I'd come. For starters, OPAL is a beautiful space that isn't incredibly intimidating. Drinks were strong and tasty. However, the best part was the staff and crowd. Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I didn't feel like an outsider at all and I'm grateful for that. I hope to come back to OPAL more frequently while I'm here! read more

My husband and I came back to this club since I had a great time there the first time I went there with a friend. We also went there last year and it was better back then. It looks like a few things changed there. The first time I was there, there were huge flat screen monitors with images from horror movies on it. The place was decorated more elaborately too. Most of all, we were able to sit on what few chairs were there the first time my friend and I went to the club. No one asked us to get up and move back then. There are two V.I.P areas in the club. The area we were in did not state that it was V.I.P. It was near the entrance. There were no signs there at all. A guy there told us it was for reserved and for V.I.P's only. That was so annoying. Also, I suspect that one of the employees who work for the club used to dress up in some elaborate costume. Check out the pics that I posted to see what I mean. I didn't see anyone that dressed up there this year. Maybe it was just some random guy, but if it really was an employee who dressed up to attract a bigger crowd, then please bring that back to the club! Stuff like that does attract people. As for the club owner Micheal, he's great. He responds quickly to emails and texts regarding the club. This year the tickets only cost $10 for general admission. The wait in line wasn't long at all. We arrived there before 10 p.m. I don't understand if their policy regarding seating has changed or not. They need to add a lot more seats there and NOT make it a V.I.P area IMHO. I've been to lots of clubs before and not to many clubs have this issue that I've been to. What if someone needs to sit down because their feet are hurting or they just want to sit down and rest? There is nowhere to sit except for the patio outside. And there are no seats there unless you count the concrete part of the patio as seating. There were probably 100 people or more inside the club at that time and lots more outside the club. And the majority of the seats are for V.I.P and reserved seating downstairs and upstairs. There should be a non V.I.P area to sit in IMHO. I hope that Michael can make Opal a better place again. read more
