My friend thought her bagel was just okay but she's been here before and loved other food items, such as the chicken salad sandwich on a croissant. I love the decor and vibe. Cute cafe, lovely interior design and friendly staff. Really liked how the guy behind the counter seemed to know a lot of the customers personally which is always a good sign. Ordered the loaded grilled cheese with autumn squash soup, latte and a walnut muffin. To start, I loveeed the food, everything was fantastic. The loaded grilled cheese was tastefully loaded, the fresh tomato was the perfect touch, and the bread was completely delicious. Soup was not too sweet which I liked. And the muffin was very nutty, also not too sweet, which really lets the flavor shine. The one miss may have been the plain latte. Made me think I had covid for a second because it just tasted like burnt milk... but you know maybe it was an off day. I think I overheard that they make all their syrups in house which is very cool, perhaps next time I'll try one of those. I believe in second chances and who am I to deny this clemency to Aglaia's lattes. I would honestly come back just for the food and pastries. Because there's so many places to get coffee around here I have overlooked this many times and finally came in. It's located not far from the Chicago Avenue Blue Line. Aglaia is best known for the coffee of course. Even so, be sure to get some of the food. They can get pricey on some things. After looking for a place to get breakfast and do some work, I chose to come here. It was close by at the time, and I had read good things about it. This is a pretty cozy yet spacious area in an old warehouse. It's about $5 for a latte. Then add a bit more for non dairy milk. Kind of expensive. Then there's the food. Has a pretty small food menu for breakfast. It's about $11 for Avocado Toast. An unique thing is the toast is topped with avocado mousse. This is a big change from the common slices. Interesting texture and full of flavor. This comes with an organic soft boiled egg, but leave this off to make it vegan. Also has organic pickled onions. This comes on toasted PQB sourdough. Good except that it's too expensive. It has very good but not that special coffee, at least not as expensive as they charge for it. I wanted a simple easily accessible place near the office for lunch. I remember that they offered lunch when I stopped before. They have a small menu for lunch options. I had been craving a panini type grilled cheese. And they have it. So I ordered it. The bread was crunchy and had lots of cheese. It was greasy and I felt it had too much cheese. One of the cheese was strong in taste which was good but too much grease I can't order it again. There was an option of side salad or chips. For the price I was expecting a bigger sandwich or different kind of bread. May try something else next time but this would be a last thought for lunch. They do not take cash. read more

A friend & I were in the mood for a coffee meet up. So we decided to try Aglaia Coffee & Tea co. since we had never been. We wanted a place tucked away off the beaten path. I had driven by many times so I was looking forward to our visit. I love this area because it is not overrun with crowds. Not yet anyway... Wow! It was so much more than I expected! Stylish. Attractive. Cozy. Brick walls, artwork, huge windows and a marble counter create a beautiful space. There's a bit of a mid-century vibe about the place and it all works. They offer coffee, tea, savory and sweet bites. My friend's avocado toast looked great and she said it was delicious. She loved her cortado and my oat milk matcha latte was incredible. The surprising thing is they also sell homemade healthy dog treats, beautiful candles and more. They were doing wreath making classes today too. I am a fan and will certainly return soon! read more

I'm visiting from California and had an appointment with Aire Chicago down the street. I didn't have breakfast yet so I wanted something quick, healthy, and GOOD! I found it here at Aglaia! I got the spinach, green apple, and orange smoothie and it not only tastes great, it's got me feeling great. Also, this place is BEAUTIFUL! Ambiance was amazing. I love coffee and I work a block away. Hence, I was excited when I found this place. Unfortunately, I had a bad experienced and never came back. The person at the counter had a very bad attitude. I asked about what type of coffee they sell and she told me to just see the menu. I got the menu and she took it out of my hands. She said I just need it to watch it, not touch it. Without any guidance from her, I ordered the coffee drink that looked most similar to a regular coffee. The drink was very expensive and it tasted like mud water. I left confused, I throw away the drink in the dumpster, and find another coffee shop a few blocks away. I give one start because that place well designed. read more

Firstly I must thank my husband's good taste in fine coffee. His eager, organic search lead to Aglaia. I was delighted to see the list of organic drinks in the menu. I had the dirty chai, and he had the Americano. We both want to go back and try out everything on the menu now! Beautiful creations, lovely owners that care about their community, and a location that will be cool to walk to on Saturday mornings in the spring and summer. First of all, they tried to charge me $17 for chai latte with 3 shots of espresso. Unheard of. Every single time I've tried to order my drink, I've had to say, ok well how do I order a chai latte with 3 espresso shots? It's completely overrated. I now refuse to go here and I will tell everyone I know to also not go here. Not to mention, the staff was extremely rude to me. I have been to over 250 independent coffee shops across Chicagoland (in the suburbs and the city). So naturally, I wanted to try Aglaïa Coffee & Tea. I was very please it opened as it's location is a short walk from where I live and a welcome addition to the area that could use from retail, restaurants and coffee shops. This is why I was somewhat disappointed with my experience. I will start with the negatives. The main negative is the price and value (or lack thereof). Their coffee is expensive. I fully understand that at an independent coffee shop prices are going to higher than chain coffee shops. So then, it needs to be about value. I got 12 oz oat milk latte and a 12 oz vanilla latte with almond milk. They charge $5.00 for a regular 12 oz latte. $5.00 is not a crazy price for a latte, but if you get 12 oz it's not a good value. You can get at least a 16 oz latte or better for that price elsewhere. They charge $6.00 for the 12 oz vanilla latte. Again, a bad value for the reasons stated above. Somehow my total for those two drinks was nearly $15.00. Even after tax a $5.00 drink and a $6.00 drink should not cost almost $15.00. I think they have $1.00 up charge for the milk alternative. Again, not a good value, many independent coffee shops do not have these up changes. Next, the Coffee was good, but not great. It was ok coffee, on par with many of the independent coffee shops I've been to, but if are doing to charge premium prices, I expect a premium in return. The vanilla latte was, however, way to sweet. Lastly, service was friendly, but a bit slow. There are a few redeeming qualities. The oat latte was good, certainly better than many coffee shops I've visited. The interior decor of exposed brick was very cool. I totally liked the loft vibe. Although I didn't try it, they have a 20 oz cold brew for $4.00, which is a good deal. However, they do not make their cold brew, they got it out of a machine from intelligentsia Coffee as opposed to making their own as many independent coffee shops do. I will be back to have cold brew, as it is a good deal, but, in sum, there are better independent coffee shops, even in the area. read more

I just discovered Aglaia for the first time today when walking around the neighborhood, and it's going to be a go-to of mine for sure - the staff were so friendly and made me a drink I wanted that wasn't on their menu and they had never made before, and it tasted great! (ginger turmeric tea latte in case you were wondering) They're also dog friendly, which is a huge plus for me as I'm usually walking around with my dog and always prefer to not tie him up outside if I don't have to. Cute new coffee shop in River West. Not only is it dog friendly but they have high end treats for pups that come in. I tried at the cold brew with nothing added and it was very delicious. It is a little pricey but you get the quality that you pay for. I can't wait to go back and try the smoothies and pastries. Stopped in today for the first time and was greeted by the friendliest staff. Their whole concept is "Starbucks meets Whole Foods" which I love. I ordered the chai latte (it isn't the sugary mix most places offer, it is handmade with monkfruit, a no sugar substitute). I've never been to a coffee shop that offered monkfruit as a sweetener. Their drip coffee was also very good and smooth. Their homemade muffins are delicious and healthy as well (made with almond and oat flour, sweetened with monkfruit). I ordered the banana nut muffin and devoured it. I cannot wait to come back. read more

The owner Jesse is wonderful - he spent the time explaining to us the various offerings they have, including protein milk (which is lactose free!) which I had never heard of.
