I cannot say enough good things about this salon and the hair dresser I had yesterday, Jennifer. I had called a few days before to make an appointment to have a blow out. I wanted a blow out for my wedding/exchange of vows with my husband. The day before we realized that the time we originally had planned was going to rain and I asked if we could move the appointment to earlier in the day. They were very helpful and accommodating. It was my first time at the salon and I found it to be very neat and clean. They were super precautious given the covid 19 ordeal going on. Most importantly, I loved how my hair came out! Not only Ramy helped me getting my hair back to a healthy stage, he is also and most importantly, very professional, he knows what he is doing and he tells you exactly what you need , without trying to sell you unnecessary products. I made a great decision to walk-in for a haircut while visiting Boston last weekend. Manny was my stylist and he took great care to listen to my needs while also offering his expertise on how to bring out my features without sacrificing too much length. He gave me a beautiful shoulder-length cut (took off ~ 4in) incorporating some dry-cutting techniques to give it more movement. He also showed me some easy styling tips for finger drying and setting w humidity spray. I felt like a new woman walking out of this beautiful salon and will have to consider adding trips to Boston in my budget to see Manny again! Wonderful experience all around. read more

I was very disappointed with the blowout and cost. An additional amount was added without my knowledge for a simple hairstyling for shoulder length hair. When asked about this additional cost, I was told that extra time was needed for use of a curling iron which I have never used on my hair nor have any stylists used to obtain requested results. I was very surprised that a credit was not applied since the service was not requested. I felt that as an out of town client, I was taken advantage of and will not use this salon during my now frequent visits to this beautiful city. read more

Aside from his great personality that simply makes the appointment a pleasure, he knows exactly how to layer my curly hair, which always seems to be difficult for other hair stylists, but he always gets it perfect! He has also found the perfect shade of chocolate brown for my hair, and it compliments my complexion as well. He does amazing curls! I'll start off with saying I waited a week to write this review to give myself some time to adjust to the haircut to make sure I wasn't just over reacting and being silly. I do hate giving low ratings to an establishment and to someone's work, but after my haircut and experience I went home and just bawled and have been pretty unhappy every day since. I have been in Boston for 7 months and have totally avoided getting a haircut, fearing it would be difficult to find someone I trusted with my hair. I would say the thing I feared most came true. I meet with the stylist; he asked what I was thinking for a haircut, and the first thing he said was "are you sure?", trying to make me doubt myself. I HAD long hair, and I'm a petite person, so I think he thought it didn't suit me. I told him I wanted about an inch trim, maybe 2 maximum and he immediately made me feel like I was making the wrong decision; trying to convince me it needed to be shorter. I also explained I have a 17 month old and don't have time to fix my hair. I like it long for the easy of letting it air dry in it's natural wavy/curly state and it being long enough for ponytails(when needed). I feel like I wasn't heard and ended up with something I did not want. I was persuaded to cut a little more off, thinking it was going to be about 3 inches. Well, when all said and done, after it's cut and dried, it's about 6 inches shorter, there's a weird short chunk at the front around my face and the top layers don't even stay in a low ponytail. That to me is a short haircut, and it looks even shorter when it's not straightened and in it's natural state of curliness. I specifically stated I liked long hair and didn't want short hair and I needed something functional for everyday. I ended up with a high maintenance haircut that does not fit into my everyday, and will have to deal with for probably the next 6 months until it grows out a little. I get it, hair is his thing. I understand he has a vision, it might be a different one than I have of myself; but if I would have stuck to what I truly wanted, been heard and not been convinced that it wasn't a good look for me, I think I would have walked out happy and with a beautiful haircut. I've been growing my hair out for about 5 years and now I feel as if I'm starting all over. On top of a haircut I was not happy with, I also felt extremely awkward and uncomfortable with some comments made. I moved to Boston nearly two years ago and it took me over a year of shopping around at different Salons before I finally ended up here with Manny. As a man, it's often hard to find someone who puts in real time and effort in cutting your hair. Manny does exactly that. Aside from being extremely personable and charismatic, he actually listens to what you want and even gives his own input and recommendations to ensure that you leave looking like the best version of yourself. Unfortunately I was not really happy with my hair lately since it looks so dry . We did highlights and on top of the keratin treatment which we should not. So it's kind of burned . But most importantly I was disappointed by Agostino's behavior, who used to be not only my hairdresser in many occasions but also a friend of mine. At least that's what I thought . So here what happened . I was next door after work since I had to have lunch because I didn't have time to have it in the office. So I was literally 5 min late and he sent his assistant to tell me that I am late. I had to run to the bathroom and have a glass of water Sorry.....and he told me off and he also told me that I am late constantly which is the exact opposite. Not sure why he said that . I was always 10 min earlier and sometimes had to wait , which was ok. But if you are 5 minutes late ohhhh no it's unacceptable. Agostino did the exact same thing to my friend who got late because she could not find a parking spot and then she got late to pick up her 3 year old son because he had her waiting with the color on for not sure how much longer than normal. I have been going to Agostino for the last 4 years; he is the real deal. I usually don't write reviews but only do so when absolutely deserved. Agostino is a perfectionist; he is an artist that exhibits real talent and values creating a wonderful experience for his clients; he is an extremely good listener in terms of understanding what you are looking for and takes time to take into account your hair type, shape etc. The man is brilliant and always goes ABOVE and BEYOND for his clients. I brought in my fiancé to get his "wedding" haircut after many failed haircuts; he had never had a good haircut in his life because of his difficult hair. The day we came in was his first. 1) He was blown away by the massage chair you sit in when getting your hair washed, then 2) even more by Agostino's meticulousness and perfectionism, and 3) by the final product. With the great reviews I thought this salon and Manny would be a great, drama-free, no hassle appointment. It couldn't have been farther from the case. Unsafe, uncomfortable given defensive, aggressive behavior and no listening to what your preferences are for your own hair and look. The first sign to leave was upon arriving Manny was shaving his face at his station and the floor was thickly covered in hair. After explaining to Manny that I only wanted a trim, I liked to wear my hair long, he said, "You have been wearing the same style for a long time and need a change. It's dated." (Do you have a style that you are happy with that makes you confident and happy without judgement from a new hairdresser?). I said I liked my style and only wanted an inch cut off from the bottom. "So you want it uneven?" he said in a condescending response. "Your hair is so clean, did you wash it for me?" (Very uncomfortable). "Can I cut it dry?" (Do you typically go to a salon with having your hair washed as part of the experience?) It was odd to be asked, with the first comment an unwanted implying remark, and to be felt as though it was an inconvenience to ask for hair to be washed as he blew air into gloves to wash my hair. I said again getting a sense he was not understanding I only wanted a trim, that "my worst nightmare is having hair cut too short." He responded, "Well you have a lot of length." I said I only want a trim and to keep it long and he cut me off and said, "We'll talk more in the chair." Again in his chair I showed him how much I wanted cut off and he said, "That much? Your hair is too long." He began cutting the back where I couldn't see and as hair fell to the floor and he began haphazardly cutting in layers and I could see as it was too late that he was cutting far too much off, 4 inch pieces of hair were hitting the floor. I said again, "not too short" and he jumped as though he forgot. As he dried my hair I could see it was shoulder length where there was once long flowing waves. I couldn't believe it, it was so upsetting. I said, "Oh no, it's way too short" and he grabbed fist fulls of my hair, shook it at the sides of my head and aggressively and defensively said. "No, you still have length! Look! look!". I have never felt so unsafe with his response, and his grabbing my hair shaking it by my head knowing he made a massive mistake that was exactly what I'd said multiple times I didn't want. He said was going to cut more off as it was dry and I said no. At that point there wouldn't be any hair left and his aggressive behavior was now emitting an off-putting body odor. I got up out of his chair to leave and the owner and another stylist stared at me silently from the corner. As I paid and tipped (taking integrity given the the horrific experience) I said to the cashier, "It's way too short, I'm so upset." and she half smiled and said nothing as though this was a normal occurrence. No apologies. Manny glared at me from behind me the entire time. Beyond the upsetting, uncomfortable, unsafe experience, it's incredibly unfortunate as this was just before big business meetings I had where I wanted just a clean up to be best presentable and focus on that and no drama over hair. Instead of the confidence of a former sleek, professional look with long layers, I have the look of a school child with a butchered bad haircut and expressions of pity and concern when asked what happened to my hair and where I got my haircut. Still trying to grow out my hair before holiday pictures and trying to forgot this terrible encounter that if anything, saves you from going to this salon. read more

If you are thinking of going to Agostino you must see Manny. I have been getting my hair styled by him for the past two years and he is the best. He truly listens to what I want and he also incorporates his own ideas in a way that compliments what I asked for. When I first went to him I had my hair short and wanted to go shorter. My other stylist, wouldn't cut my hair that short, but Manny thought it would be a good look for me. I haven't gone back since! DO NOT USE THIS PLACE, EVER! Tried this salon out not too long ago, after loosing my beloved stylist, and was butchered. I had been getting a very stylish pixie cut for a long time, but after trying a few salons out (after my stylist moves cross country), decided to grow my hair out as I was getting very masculine and unflattering cuts by other stylists. I walked in to Agostino one day, and was very specific as to what my needs were, and booked a consult with Manny a few days later. I had the consult, where he was very vague as to what he was going to do - telling me he can't explain it, but needs to just do it. He convinced me to cut my hair into a pixie again, which I had been growing out for 6 months. I told Manny I needed an all around stylist - one who could give me the right cut, shampoo, conditioner and styling products, Manny proceeded to cut my hair, then blew dry it (NO product), and told me we were done. I have FINE CURLY hair, and my hair has to be styled w/ product. I had to tell him this, so he threw on some drying moose to my dry hair and I was I was done. I was a bit upset, but decided to give it a chance and see what I could do with my hair after I shampoo it, etc..I LOOKED HORRIBLE! I also walked out with NO products or way to style my new cut. I called a few days later to ask to speak to Manny about this, and he called me days later at 6:30PM (I was at a business dinner), and I could not talk. Manny said he would call me the next day and I never heard from him, I paid $85, looked disgusting, did not get what I asked for as far as a cut or recommendations on products, and was distraught. I felt funny hounding them, so after a month or so, I demanded to speak to the owner, Agostino. He called me minutes after I left a message with the receptionist, and was rushing saying he had to get back to clients. Well, why not call me when you have the time to deal with it? He was rude and hung up on me, and unaccommodating when I said I would like to get the cute fixed or my money back. He said I should go somewhere else as I would not be happy if he cut my hair, which is funny because he never has cut my hair and I was willing. He the told me that since my hair was cut a while ago, he could not do anything. I told him I TRIED to deal with it right after the cut, but did not get in touch with Manny. He told me there was nothing he could do and that he had to go, and hung up on me. DO NOT GO HERE, EVER! read more
