I received a quote from Aguilar after a neighbor recommended them. She warned me they could be a bit flighty with regards to scheduling. Little did I know how true and how understated that would prove to be. They came in late June to trim some branches from above our deck and cut down a tree and remove the stump. They trimmed the branches but didn't clean the deck and even broke a bulb from our string lights, resulting in small pieces of glass on the deck which they didn't acknowledge. We shrugged it off and didn't complain about it to them, since we could clean up in 5 mins and had a replacement bulb. After the tree was cut down, we were then informed we'd need the local public works folks to come out and ensure no power or water lines were located under the tree before they could grind it down. (It would have been nice to know this before they came, as they knew what the job entailed and we could have accomplished this prior). They said to contact them after it's done and they'd come back to grind down and remove the stump. Over the course of the last 3+ months, I have had numerous conversations with the owner Johnny about returning to our house to remove the stump. With each interaction I was told that we would be put on the list and he would return. Each week would pass and he would be a no-show. After 3 no-shows and 2+ months, my husband finally called to express our annoyance and gave Johnny the opportunity to back out if their schedule was too busy or it wasn't worth it for them to come out just for a stump, saying "if you don't intend to return, that's fine. Just tell us so we can hire someone else and not keep waiting on you." Johnny yet again said "no no, we'll come, please text me your address" (we'd probably texted him our address 5 times prior). It's been one month since that last conversation and still, the stump remains. I give them 2 stars because they did do some work. But this company's failure to complete the job and lack of professionalism by telling us they were coming on a specific day (or simply in general and not confirming a date), and then repeatedly not showing up proves them to be highly unreliable. ESPECIALLY after my husband gave Johnny an out and he STILL said he would come but did not. I do not recommend using them. read more

I am reaching out to you again to follow up with your plans to finish your job here at my house. I know you have been very busy, but I would appreciate a response from you. I still have 4 stumps that are needing to be ground down from 2 past jobs you did for me. The cost of grinding was included in the total bill that I paid you for taking the trees down. I understand that I have nothing in writing as to what work I have paid you for so I can't force you to finish, but know that I trusted your word. Your friendly professionalism as the "supervisor" gave me no cause for concern when I paid you in full for the work prior to it being completed. I am asking that if you are not planning to finish this job, please advise. The work needs to be done so I will need to pay someone else." Jonny has an amazing way with people in getting them to like and trust him. I had a 200 year old dying oak tree, another large old tree, and several pines taken down by Jonny's team in September 2021. The day they finished cutting and cleanup Jonny came to collect the pay due. I saw they still had stumps to grind so I asked if they were coming back. He asked for full payment and said he would send his uncle out because stump grinding is what he did. I believed him and paid him in full before he left. After some time went by I reached out to Jonny more than half a dozen times trying to schedule a day for completion of the job I had paid for. He responded a few times with saying they would be out on a certain day, but never showed up, or their equipment was down, but he eventually started to ignore my messages/texts. I was still trying to connect with him in May of 2022 to get him to finish the job. Sadly, I ended up having to pay an additional $1k+ to have another company to come out to do the job. Jonny's team was amazing and I would give them a 5 star if I could, but Jonny is the face of the business and should be a disappointment to his team for the negative reviews his business has been receiving. read more
