This spot is inside a medical building in Lees Summit by Frontier Justice. Happenstance placed me close by and I'm so glad. I received quite more than just the Ahadu special. Teddy the owner, was kind enough to educate me on his business journey along with the birth of coffee in Africa.. Ethiopia be exact. The Ahadu special 20oz consists of 4 shots of espresso which his technique of grounds is not overbearing, but it wasn't bitter as he gave me a cup of straight Java. Came for a deep mug of hot frothy delightfully milky chai and enjoyed every sip. So tasty with rich deep flavor and just what I needed to infuse life back into me on this cold December afternoon. I don't like star anise and most chai has a real bite to me, I haven't asked if they include that in their house blend but if they do they know how to blend it in seamlessly. This coffee shop is so cool! I love that they roast their own beans, and they have Ethiopian coffee, which is my top favorite. The owner is so nice. He offers a free coffee sample of freshly roasted coffee, and of course, I am immediately impressed! The crepe flavor is really good. There is a really nice tangy, sour kick through all the sweetness of the crepe. I just wish it's not as thick, but over all, it is delicious. I love the vibe in the coffee shop. You can study, chill, and read a book. They even have Paint Nite! If you are interested, some of the displayed artwork for Paint Nite look awesome. So after trying some of their famous chai tea (not latte) at a Friendsgiving event, I decided to spend some time at Ahadu. My friend works there and highly recommends their espresso and chai. The owner makes his own personal blend of chai and it's such a great blend of cinnamon and spiciness that makes me so happy. They have lots of milk alternatives and their prices are reasonable. My 12oz chai latte with oat milk was $3.97. I came with a friend who ordered a cappuccino with oat milk and she also agreed that it was amazing. The place is spacious and clean with some high tables, regular tables and some couch chairs. The Womens bathroom was also very clean. While we were spending some time there working on our computers, the owner offered us a free sample of the brand new for the season Apple Pie Chai and it was so good. It's a bit sweeter than I prefer but not overwhelmingly so. It's a perfect drink for the holidays. If I'm in the area, I will definitely be back. They also offer a punch card for frequent customers. I tried their house made chai, which was good. I also ordered the sundried tomato and turkey crepe which was savory, but on the salty side. Staff was very kind, but my issue is apart from food and drink. The place was a furnace! My party of 3 was hot and sweating sitting inside, we actually moved outdoors, where it was cooler. I had my doubts because of the location. I expected a sterile vibe but once again never judge a book by its cover. This place is welcoming and relaxing. Everyone working and visiting were just chill and kind. They do crepes Friday thru Sunday and it's quite the menu. They also offer a chicken and egg burrito along with various pastries and cookies. I've been hearing about Ahadu for quite some time but have yet to make it in until today, and I'm glad I did. The atmosphere is great for putting the headphones on and getting some work done. Pro tip: Do your part buying a small bevvy or snack for every hour you plan on staying. I did not stay today but I would have loved to if I'd had time. It's just a helpful hint for coffee shops that don't make a ton of money in the first place, and is the same across the board for every other small business. If a new coffee shop opens up, I'm there! Ahadu Coffee popped up on Yelp as the nearest caffeine fix during an afternoon shopping trip. This small and adorable coffee shop is located in between Waldo's Pizza and the movie theater in Lee's Summit. Their chai latte was delicious (very smooth and topped with cinnamon) and the customer service was friendly. In our ongoing quest for the perfect writing/coffee space, my daughter and I went to Ahadu, which is walking distance from our house. I've been curious about the place for years and now regret not going in sooner. Pros: - space. It's big and open and pleasantly decorated, but not trying too hard. - staff. SO friendly and welcoming, including a guy I think was maybe the owner. Drinks were up almost immediately and food didn't take much longer. - convenience: there's a drive-thru! I didn't use it today, but plan to in the future. Their drinks are up so quickly that I'm guessing it moves along well. - menu. Varied, but not ridiculously so. They do a few things and do them well, which I think is why the food and drinks don't take long to make. - drinks. My coffee was what the barista recommended, the Ahadu special, which she said is their most popular. I usually get plant milk, but often try my first drink at a new place with whole milk to get a baseline. This was creamy, rich, and flat-out yummy. My daughter's strawberry lemon drink was a seasonal special and was about what you'd expect, cold and sweet and fruity. - food. I'd heard about the crepes here, and they didn't disappoint. They're large and hearty and reasonably priced. Our whole meal for two was under $30 without the tip (please tip generously!). - music. Nice selection and not too loud. Cons: - my only complaint, and it's tiny, is that the seating is mostly attractive wooden chairs, which are low-maintenance, but not particularly inviting or comfortable. There is some cushy couch/chair seating, which is not ideal for doing work on a laptop, but we used it anyway, and I made do with a pillow on my lap. For those who plan to do a lot of work while sipping their coffee, if you have a tender butt (like me), it might be worth it to bring a lap desk. Overall, I'm delighted to have finally discovered this gem in my neighborhood and will absolutely be back. Can't imagine going to Starbucks now if this place is open when I need a fix. read more

Went through the drive-thru here, so I'm not able to comment on the experience walking into the coffee shop. The owner is the sweetest person and explained to us that they roast all of their Ethiopian coffee beans themselves. The coffee was great and they seem to have some seasonal drinks depending on upcoming holidays. I can't comment on the coffee drinks, but I can (and will) vouch for their crepes, which are delicious. I stumbled onto learning about their weekend (now daily... thanks COVID-19) menu that offers sweet and savory crepes. I opted for a chicken and egg crepe, which I was told had a little of the sun-dried tomato and pesto flavors I was looking for. I was a bit taken aback that the chicken wasn't shredded like the menu said, but that did not take away from the robust flavor that the crepe packed overall. I couldn't really taste the egg in it (it's over-easy), but I could taste all the other ingredients, which complemented each other well; the sauces served with it added to it also.
