Not many places do full justice to the matcha preparation process, I was pleasantly surprised that they do all the complex steps to make a good cup of matcha. I've always only had highly pleasant experiences with the staff here. I wanted something a little bit sweeter, and wasn't totally excited by the options on the menu, so she found something off menu that they could add (Ube!) which make my drink a special treat. Definitely a place that I plan on coming back frequently to, it was pretty quiet even though it was small. Easy to do some work.

rebel is on a busy strip in Volker and is such a cute little stop to make if you're hitting Prospero's or just walking around the neighborhood. I got the pistachio peppercorn latte and it was delicious. My friend just had a regular oat milk latte and it was pretty bland, so I'd stick with a specialty drink. A decent amount of seating for the space that's in there, as well as some outdoor seating.

Best coffee prices! Small and cozy. Easy walk from KU Med Center located on the corner of 39th Street and Wyoming.

Solid experience. The coffee was fine, there was plenty of options, all of which was fine. The price was similar to everyone else in this space. We live out near Lees Summit so it's a bit of a drive for us. That's the deciding factor for us....is this a place that we will drive 35 min for morning coffee. For us, probably not. If we lived in the area, we might feel differently. The service was probably the best part of the experience. The counter staff was smiling and easy to order with, and the other person working was also a positive person making the experience very comfortable. I'd give it 4 starts if the coffee was more along what I prefer. If you try this place and like the coffee, I expect you may have found your new home

I am obsessed with coffee shops in Kansas City and this is one of them! Small, but so cozy and cute with a variety of choices to choose from. The matcha is delicious and the space is calm and comforting. 10/10!

Slightly cramped inside, with not a ton of seating. Service was pretty quick overall. Got a basic iced latte and a matcha latte. As someone who typically prefers my own home espresso set up, I use that as my basis of comparison when I try new cafes. Overall, pretty average, and not something I would go out of my way to get. The matcha latte also barely had any matcha flavor, and tasted primarily of milk.

A sleek little coffee house on the ever changing "Restaurant Row" of 39th St. A very welcome alternative to S'bucks down the street since Mud Pie and Down Beat both exited. With elegant leather seating and designer lighting fixtures and neon, the space gives off a slightly upscale but welcoming vibe. An outdoor deck offers more seating. I went with a Oaxacan Pourover from a friendly barista that was also from Oaxaca. How could I choose anything else? A solid cup of joe to get my Saturday morning in gear, and my buddy's mocha cappuccino was equally satisfying for him. Definitely going on the repeat list. My only small complaint is that even though they are using fair-trade single sourced coffee beans from Counter Culture, I always prefer a local roaster that offers the same sourcing. The taste might be just as good, I just like keeping as much $ with-in the KC area as I can.

Great spot for a coffee and bite, whether you want sweet or savory. They have a few fall themed coffees (pumpkin of course, as well as s'mores) and treats. On the savory side, they offer a variety of quiches and breakfast burritos, including one with veggie chorizo.

Everything you'd want in a local coffee shop! Came in on a Friday morning with some friends. No wait. Drinks were delicious. Staff was the best. Chairs are stupid comfortable. We'll be back!

So happy there's a new coffee shop on 39th! Service is great - barista convinced me to try their chai and I am NOT disappointed! She explained it's a local blend with dozens of spices and I taste every one of em! I'm extremely picky with my chai, so this is a BIG deal. Will definitely be back to try matcha and all the other delicious looking beverages and snacks Would highly suggest for a nice place to sit and work!

What an adorable spot! I love the style and the atmosphere. It's right in the heart of 39th Street. Walking distance of all the great restaurants and bars on one side and the tattoo shop, head shop, and more restaurants on the other side. It's such a great location and I loved the beautiful style of the furniture. I got a mocha latte and it was pretty good, not strong. I loved the workers though, great personality. My husband tried the macchiato and he liked it. I tried a sip, tasted great! I love the little art they put on the drinks, it was fun! Worth checking out. They have donuts from donutolgy there. Didn't try the pastries and quiche but they looked good.

Such a cute find! We stumbled upon it while staying at an Air B&B and it was great! Everyone was so helpful with recommendations and thorough with our order. Everything was delicious as well!

I ordered the lavender honey matcha with oat milk and it just hit the spot that I needed after brunch. It was herby and floral from the matcha and lavender but the sweetness level was just right with the honey. Located on 39th it's a very cozy and aesthetically pleasing coffee shop that has a good variety of drinks. Rebel has everything from coffee to teas and you can customize your drinks anyway you want. Not only were the drinks refreshing but the staff was very friendly. We met Jillian and Caleb and they were so much fun to talk to and get to know. If you're looking for a coffee shop that has a good vibe, good people, and good drinks give Rebel a shot. You won't be disappointed and this just might be your new spot. I'll definitely be back to try everything else on their menu!

I remember back in 2011 when I worked at the Nelson we were absolutely starved for a great local coffee house to open up nearby. We had Latte Land on the plaza but parking over there was always nuts and to just pop in and grab a coffee we'd often end up over at KCAI. When Crow's opened while I was away in graduate school I remember my former colleagues gushing about it - saying it had finally happened and a good shop had opened. They weren't wrong. Here we are, probably 10 years (ish) since they first opened their doors and they are still serving the need for fantastic local coffee in this part of KC. On my most recent visit I popped in for a coffee to take with me to a meet at UMKC and I was reminded at how great this spot is. While there are many more great coffee options nearby these days you can't fail to remember Crows and I look forward to my next visit!

Even with the crowd it was not noisy at all and I was able to settle in and get plenty of work done. I ordered an iced oat milk latte with an extra shot of espresso and it was delicious. The coffee flavor really came through and was perfectly prepared. The staff was also very friendly and helpful which made the experience even better. I will definitely be back.

We loved the little set up with a great amount of seating, a clean bathroom, and outlets for people who want to study or get some work done. We were a little hungry and got the empanadas and both tried the Yerba mate. We've never had the traditional yerba mate and were excited we could try it here. Once our order was ready one of the employees was happy to explain to us how to properly drink the yerba mate. She was patient, kind, and professional the whole time. There's definitely a trick to drinking it without getting the tea leaves through the straw. As we enjoyed our snack and drink we could tell the caffeine kicks in a little later. So, if you're up to trying traditional yerba mate, be aware that you'll get a gradual burst of energy a little later. I personally loved the decor and the atmosphere here. They had little knick knacks you could purchase, a small refrigerator with items to take with you as well. I got a couple of key chains for my sister and myself and my boyfriend and I have already noted that we want to come back here the next time we're in Kansas City!
