We stayed one night at the Ahern on a recent long weekend in Vegas. Billed as a "luxury boutique hotel", this spot replaced the former Lucky Dragon Hotel and Casino, an "Asian-themed" hotel and casino that was only open for a few years before it went out of business. The Ahern has done some remodeling, but still has many of the og Lucky Dragon touches and color scheme. Our room was comfortable enough, with a large King bed and updated (and super clean) bathroom. The entire hotel is wrapped in a pink film, though, so it felt like we were in some weird sci-fi movie when we looked outside. Not that there was much to see, as our room looked out onto some very dilapidated apartments. The staff we encountered were very friendly, but (other than the aforementioned cleanliness) that's about all the niceties I can share about the Ahern. The hotel bills itself as near the Strip - and since none of their onsite restaurants were open past 9pm (odd for Vegas!) we ended up walking to the nearby Sahara Hotel for some late night eats. In between the Ahern and the Sahara (about a 2 block walk) we saw a lot of criminal-looking activity and drug use on the sidewalk. It did NOT feel safe - in fact, we ended up walking in the middle of Sahara Ave (a major street!) to get back to the hotel, as there was some VERY shady stuff going on that we would have needed to walk directly through if we'd used the sidewalk. Speaking of safety, there was no "room key required" to board the elevator, which made our room feel as if anyone off the street could have come up and knocked on our door. If you're not planning to leave the hotel after dark, or eat after going to a show, the Ahern is perfectly acceptable. Personally, I wouldn't stay here again due to the shady neighborhood - the price was about the same as staying at a mid-level Strip hotel, anyway. read more

Update June 17 2025: After posting my initial review about Ahern's failure to host the advertised pool party, Shaun from Ahern reached out. He seemed apologetic and offered to look into the situation, stating he would follow up and offer compensation for the experience, which he acknowledged was unacceptable. However, weeks have passed and I've yet to receive any follow-up--despite his promise to call me within 24 hours. I also sent a follow-up email requesting an update and have still received no response. Because of this, I'm dropping my rating to 1 star. They not only failed to deliver on the advertised event, but also failed to follow through on their commitment to make it right--just like the promise of a great pool party that ended up delivering nothing. Original review I paid $350 for a cabana expecting a BBQ pool party with fresh food, a DJ, karaoke, and a great atmosphere they advertised--none of which happened. The BBQ turned out to be dry chicken fingers, a plain hot dog, and something they called a "pork belly taco" that looked more like an empanada--all pre-plated and served from a warmer. Definitely not the fresh BBQ buffet that was advertised. They admitted to changing plans due to low ticket sales and letting go of the chef, without notifying guests. To make up for it, they had us pick meals from the regular restaurant menu. They did comp a bottle of Jack Daniel's, which was appreciated, but it didn't come close to making up for the disappointing experience. The DJ was lackluster, karaoke never happened, and the whole event felt disorganized from start to finish. The lifeguard on duty for a short time was kind and attentive, but once she left, security took over. One guard stayed on his phone the entire time, then later threatened to have us escorted off property just for slightly adjusting a TV so we could watch the movie--despite us being the only group left at the pool. The only highlight was Charles, our bartender, who went above and beyond to make the best of a bad situation. Unfortunately, the overall experience was not worth the money, and I wouldn't recommend this venue to others. read more

Me and my wife and son came here to stay for three days. An amazing day this hotel is super clean. Does not smell like tobacco at all great parking as well. The security is super helpful and I would encourage you guys to go stay here if you want something budget friendly and also want something really nice clean and comfortable. We loved our time here! The check in staff were super friendly and helpful which started the stay off right. It's toward the end of the strip, so it avoids the crowds, but still within walking distance and near the monorail. I saw another review that complained about the pink windows, which honestly was one of my favorite parts. It made the sunsets stunning, the room glowed at certain hours and the full length windows were reflective on the inside which was fun too. I do agree that the pool is awkwardly placed outside the lobby and pretty small and shallow. I wouldn't choose the Ahern if that's your primary goal, but we didn't care about that. They do have a texting program that sends you deals, which was nice. Sign up before you get there. My one critique is that some staff didn't really seem to know what was going on in the hotel. We were told by one barista to come back at a certain time for a happy hour deal and when we did, the next barista told us that was wrong (but we later confirmed she'd been right). One front desk agent told us there'd be happy hour deals on food and drink in the bar, but the bar tender said food ended before that time. It was confusing, so I'd recommend just having a better system to keep everyone up to date. read more

The ambiance given off by the hot pink window film is definitely different but we kind of liked it. Feels like you're in a movie or something lol. The room itself was spacious and comfortable. Cozy pillows and comforter and a dope shower. Had a decent view and check-in was quick and easy. We also appreciated the off-strip location and plenty of parking. There's no casino attached but at least you don't have to walk forever from the parking to get to your room. check in is right off the second floor entrance of the parking garage. It's a quiet smoke free casino free hotel. It's close to the Sahara and has access to the monorail. It's in a neighborhood that doesn't look the greatest but come on....its Vegas the entire place is the devils play house ‍. The rooms are clean and spacious the beds are comfortable. The food is good at the restaurant and the staff is always very welcoming and accommodating. Overall I prefer to stay here to bypass the stress of overcrowded restaurants and other casinos. I normally don't leave negative reviews, but my experience at this hotel was incredibly disappointing from start to finish. I checked in for the first time on October 31st and was told I needed to pay a $500 deposit even though my room was pre-paid for. I was told this amount would be split once my roommate checked in later that day. I trusted that information, paid the full amount, and was reassured that I'd receive my portion back and full refund after check-out. Later, I found out that the hotel never collected the deposit from my roommate, even though that was the agreement explained to me at check-in. I checked out on November 4th and was told my deposit would be refunded. When nothing showed up the next day as a refund, I followed up the next morning and got a completely different explanation, that deposits are only released once all guests have checked out, even though I was no longer staying there and that it would take up to 5 business days. To make things even more concerning, I eventually called my bank after 13 days to see if they could confirm the status of the refund. I was shocked to learn that the hotel had placed an authorized hold of $500 on my card until December 1st, 2025, despite repeatedly telling me it would release in just 5 business days. This was never communicated to me at any point. From there, the situation only got worse. I called the hotel multiple times almost every other day for more than a week, left voicemail after voicemail requesting to speak with the operations manager, and was told she was "in a meeting until 3 PM" every single time they answered. Not once did I get a return call or any proactive communication. The lack of honesty, inconsistency, and complete disregard for guests made this the worst hotel experience I have ever had. Even after finally receiving confirmation that the refund was "processed" via email with not date and time stamp, the amount of stress and misinformation I dealt with was unacceptable. I will not be staying here again, and I sincerely hope management takes immediate steps to improve transparency and customer service. Guests deserve much better. read more

Loved it!! Mega bang for the buck!! And NO RESORT FEES :) Rooms are solidly remodeled, quiet, clean and fairly spacious with comfy beds + fridge. Ample free parking, plenty of food options, free Wi-fi and includes breakfast for two every day of your stay!! I'm talking big waffles and berries, or two eggs + sausage or bacon and toast, and a third option -- YUM!! Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Pillows could be plushier and the gym could be bigger and it would be great to have weights or machines -- but hey... Definitely get what you pay for and then some! Legit option! First of all, the photo they posted on their website of their room is not the real thing . . . gold fixtures, sofa and all. No, no. Maybe it is the "suite" that was posted but definitely Not the regular room. Also, the hotel is a bit far from the strip although it ends at Las Vegas Blvd. So for a tourist or traveler who Ubers around, it is "out in the boonies". The supposed-luxurious hotel does not provide access to some sort of food. So for the hungry guests late at night, you will starve or employ Doordash which will, by most chances Mis-Deliver your much awaited meal because the hotel shares its address with the Convention Center which is just across. Yes! My meal was not delivered and is lost! The staff at the front desk this morning were not helpful. They offered minimal information, did not make eye contact when talking. But the staff last night...Maya and Ashley were superlatively helpful! Avoid, I repeat, avoid Ahern Luxury Boutique Hotel at all costs. (P.S. We have never stayed here before but let me say that upon late check-in, we were greeted by such a nice front desk woman on an early Monday morn (2:30am). No valet service yet but easy access to the parking garage right across a pedestrian bridge (enclosed). The rooms are chic. Done in black, grey and reds. Clean. Quiet in the room. Firm, comfy beds. Large shower. Wish there was a better view looking out, but that's ok. There is a great cafe on tbe 2nd floor that serves great, strong coffee! Flakey, buttery croissants. On Monday nights, visit Talia at the Center Stage Bar on the 1st floor. She makes some great cocktails! Especially, a whiskey sour! She does not use a mix like most places do. Strong and tasty! Tomorrow night, we dine at Trattoria, also on the 1st floor. Separate review for that later. We'll be back. read more

We just checked out of The Palazzo guest suite and moved here to try it out. It was formally the Lucky Dragon Las Vegas that my OTA still called it. Checking into this place was a pleasant surprise! Unlike The Palazzo, this hotel comes with two bottles of complimentary H2O in the super clean room, free parking, free WiFi, presence of a notepad and a pen in room, free breakfast (excludes beverages) and none of that junk-fee charge call "resort fee"! Checking in was quick and friendly. Heck, it even include a discount voucher for dinner in its restaurant. If you are driving or not this will be a no-brainer place to stay in Vegas. read more

Such functional & comfortable design details made for splendid ergonomics, whether sofa lounging or creating content in the dedicated workspace. Cleaning standards were good sans the vacuuming. BED -- ok. Linens were a mixed bag of "meh" & "oohlala" textures. Outer layers in this setup were uncomfortable but the bedsheets were magic: clean, breathable, & incredibly soft. The skimpy pillows were a disappointment, especially when trying to share the space. Sleep quality was good enough in the end. BATH -- great. High cleaning standards & remarkable staging of cute toiletries ( con cuidado if you're allergic to almonds ). Functionally it's a win thanks to the generous dimensions & impressive vanity. Stylistically it's hampered by all the empty white space. The shower experience was refreshing, both literally & figuratively in that sense: a brooding (red) enclave walk-in design. Complemented by equally intense water pressure & fluffy absorbent towels A fun break from the status quo zero-entry showers around here. TV/ENT./ACTIVITIES -- bad In-room entertainment was weird & dysfunctional for an anti-casino hotel. 2x 50" mounted TVs, with remotes that simply didn't work; not with the set top box nor with the television. Changing channels requires manually pressing the cable box buttons. Even then the cable was spotty & occasionally lost service. To add insult to injury, there's a fine for connecting streaming/auxiliary devices. Pool area is surprisingly small (Skyline casino size). It's a decent place to tan if you manage to secure a chair. A steady roster of entertainers are regularly booked, along with show vouchers being offered. The talents aren't the biggest names but it's something to do. WI-FI & CELL RECEPTION -- bad Intolerable for work/real time use during peak hours + dead zones in the unit. I could barely complete a speed test; QoS & entire installation needs another revisit. --Performance-- Video streaming - average Online gaming - average Video chatting - average --Nerd Stats-- 8-27 Mbps download 9-15 Mbps upload 0% packet loss 23-104 ms latency 4-87 ms jitter FOOD & DRINK -- bad Yikes! Whomever I spoke to at the Chop Shop: this is not the craft for you... poorly trained and rude. A "lost my appetite" kind of vibe that devalues the heavy premium price of their steaks. Restaurant experiences are not at all integrated into the stay, making them inconvenient & underutilized. in-room: microwave (mini) mini-fridge (small) coffee tea wet-bar mini-bar NOISE -- good. Acoustics hold up well even for rooms facing the street. Even ambulances blaring throughout the night were tolerable. LOCATION -- Up north a few miles from the strip & explicitly not a casino hotel. The rideshare/maps experience is very confusing for app workers, so prepare to navigate them. Security presence was strong & I felt safe here. Convenient free garage parking options near by. RECOMMENDATION & RATING Architecturally a great property (formerly Lucky Dragon)... and that's about it. No personality of its own nor did it feel optimized for the non-casino demographic. It has immense potential & prices are super competitive. This location deserves a better rating, but doesn't appear to be quite there yet. Dinner at the restaurant on the first floor, Ottimo. The Lobster Alfredo was delicious. We split it and had French onion soup and garlic cheese bread to fill us up. The service and ambiance were exceptional. Tomorrow is dinner at Joels Chophouse. The room is very nice. Add to it the fact that parking is free and there is no resort fee. After a long drive and a crying baby we just wanted to go to our room and relax. They assigned us room 916 but when we tried getting in the key didn't work. Finally gave up and went back to front desk. Somehow they gave me the wrong room number. Room number was 619 so they corrected their mistake. What irked me was them laughing about it. I was in no mood to laugh. Once we got past that we eventually hit the pool. Small pool but nice. Not overcrowded and they had a dj. Kid friendly environment. Bar access via a window. The hotel is clean and quiet. No smell of smoke and easy parking. No crazy resort fees and a great location. Overall we had a good experience and would book them again. read more

This hotel has a small gym on the second floor, parking structure right on the first floor, a pool, and all the standard amenities you would expect in a room. Bed was really comfortable, enough USB outlets and regular outlets by the bed for charging. Bathroom is walk in shower. Overall good bang for your buck. Personally I especially liked it because there is no casino floor so there's no smell of cigarette smoke lingering everywhere. Early check in is $50. read more

Years ago this was the former Lucky Dragon casino. In January 2020, the building has been beautifully transformed to a non-smoking boutique hotel. You'll find them near Interstate 15 on Sahara by The Strip, and FREE parking is available. One building is the convention and the second building is the actual hotel. The self parking garage has seven levels. If you park on the second level, it leads directly to the top floor of the convention, and there's a skybridge connecting to the hotel. The hotel room is very clean and cozy. They have a massage chair, although I'm not sure if every room has it. The furnishing is lush and has the essential amenities including TV, desk, and spacious bathroom. Lobby room has a nice bar, intimate lounge, and a grand piano for Live entertainment. I like the accessibility of this hotel and everything is in close proximity, especially walking to the convention. On the second floor is Aroma Barista Bar which is a lovely coffee lounge. Next to that is Ahern LIVE where they do FREE karaoke night and comedy. Vita Bella Wine Bar also recently opened, and the new restaurant Joel's Chophouse is scheduled for a grand opening in August 2023. The convention building is immaculate and the first floor can gather around 1,800 people. They are making renovations to de-dragon the appearance of the space, so that it looks bright and inviting. Since opening the convention in 2021, they've hosted special events for a fashion show and beauty pageant. The Emerald Room is a perfect space for a small wedding ceremony and can accommodate 60 people. There's also a Center Stage Bar for happy hour, and across from that is Ottimo Gourmet Kitchen & Pizzeria which is a fantastic restaurant! read more

I missed the Lucky Dragon during its brief run in Vegas but I sorta got a chance to check it out with a recent stay at the Ahern, its new form as of a couple years ago. The property is split into two different buildings next to each other, one is devoted entirely to the hotel, the other (the former casino) is now a little convention center and has a couple restaurants. The rooms are really not bad at all. Basic but solid midscale, they seem to have a mini-fridge standard. According to the in-room fire map there are eight rooms on each floor with conjoining doors at the far end of each hall away from the elevators (I believe rooms 01-08 on each floor), I got stuck with one of these probably due to a Hotels.com discount, but it seemed more solid (and weirdly taller) than usual and I got zero noise problems or smoking coming through. Could be luck of the draw but most rooms on each floor don't have them if you want to make a request. Also comes with a free breakfast available at one of the restaurants in the convention building, from 7 to 9. I didn't do this as I just stayed one night and didn't want to go across the street and sit down that early, but it appeared to be either a Dennys plate or a big Belgian waffle for free. Tip is of course expected and I would guess coffee is the usual 6 to 8 bucks now everywhere on the Strip, but that's still cheaper than anything short of Mickey Ds around here (and that one nearby is a mega hobo fest). For nearby shopping of course there is a Walgreens right across the Strip (with inflated prices), but here's a tip, go in the other direction (toward the freeway) to find a somewhat hidden 7-Eleven that is a little smaller than usual but has normal prices. Word is Lucky Dragon failed because it pursued some weird marketing strategy where it exclusively courted Southern California Asians and had no interest in anyone else, instead it should have done what Ahern seems to be doing and marketed itself as a quieter room and surroundings a little off the busy part of the Strip (but still a quick walk to the monorail or Deuces bus or a short rideshare) with a nicer / more relaxed overall environment at a better value than the big casinos offer. 'Cause that's what it is, at least if these prices hold. read more

Bedbug warning ..: I got bitten three times my first night sleeping at the Ahern hotel in Las Vegas. My toilet also was not flushing from when I checked in. Housekeeping should've caught this while cleaning the toilet. Since I arrived late, I had to go until the next morning without a flushing toilet. Yuck! I had to move rooms, which was a major inconvenience because I had a lot of clothes and accessories unpacked in the room. The reason I'm giving a poor review is that the Management was unapologetic and did not offer me any compensation for the hassle and poor experience. I had to wait on Hold about half an hour to talk to Management who ended up not offering me anything or even saying that they were sorry. Then I had to wait for someone to help me move my belongings to another room. The next day I approached another supervisor and same response. Looks like they do not value their guests. The reason I gave them two stars is because aside from the Management, the staff was friendly, and the pizza restaurant was very delicious . read more

It's a Neighbor to the Strat. I wasn't dodging the stench of pot smoke or boobies which was a nice perk. The staff is fantastic. We went to the Ottimo restaurant inside the hotel. And may I just say, The chefs are world class. It was a pleasure to be their guest. Chef Bruno cooks to perfection. Wow! Most Everything about this hotel and their staff was 5 star. The only downside about the hotel is everytime you look out the window you see a pink Las Vegas. That's why I give it a 4 star. I don't want to see pink filtered windows. This place was amazing! There is a restaurant downstairs and a bar upstairs. We had breakfast downstairs every morning. We tried out the bar one night too. They have happy hour from 2-7pm. The deals looked good but we were out and about so didn't get to try it out. This hotel is definitely a hidden gem. It is one block from the bus station so it was well located. So glad I found this place. Will definitely be back. read more

The folks in Las Vegas owe the Ahern group a bit of thanks for purchasing and reviving a beautiful property that was once The Lucky Dragon. It felt really nice to be back in that building again. Since the Lucky Dragon, the Ahern group put their own touches on some things like restaurants and a few other areas, but also left a lot of things alone that really didn't need to be changed. CHECK IN- Neither fast or slow, got to the room and that's the point right? ROOM- Oh how I've missed the rooms here, yes they left almost everything in the room original....i noticed the strange fruit tree patterns above the bed were removed though and replaced with a simple solid gray wall and an old time-y Signal gas station photo. Also the red lamps were gone replaced with stylish ones. Its still a comfortable and nice accommodation. CENTER BAR- Even though the Casino is gone, the center bar remained. Not much changed there either, except a new happy hour menu with some incredible food on it. The Sesame Short ribs were awesome. The Service was too! Note- they charge double the price for a drink than they do next door at a bar called the Mint. Their well..low end Jim Beam costs $13 at Ahern...ouch! Its quiet and i still love this place. It still feels like The Lucky Dragon and I'm fine with that. Pool was closed for 'remodeling' when i was there. The Hotel also seems to have a staffing shortage, so they scrambled to have a bellman bring me another pillow 2 hours later. read more

The rooms were dirty, staff was not helpful, the "bar" is a makeshift breakfast counter that wasn't even open all day. You probably can find a nicer pool at your neighborhood apartment complex. No room service, no amenities. For less money you can stay at the nicest hotels on the strip. Will not be returning. We called it the Ahole the entire trip. I have waited a while to post this review, because I had problems deciding how to review it. I stayed at the hotel on July 3rd, 2025 The Ahern hotel is a nice, rather unusual hotel. Apparently there was a high end casino in here at one time, but now the lobby is a large blank area. My room was spick and span clean and very quiet. A HUGE PLUS. Parking was free and secure. There were no resort fees, but there was a very nice pool and weight room. There was a showroom. The marquee outside promises entertainment, but most nights they only have Karaoke. They have lobby ambassadors who can answer questions for you. The breakfast in the restaurant was nice but nothing out of the ordinary. Think Denny's. So far, A FOUR STAR REVIEW. Why the two stars? THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND SECURITY- I went out for a walk at night. When I came back, all the hotel doors were locked. A homeless person started chasing me. I ran and tried every hotel door. It was locked. I yelled at the person, and he went away. I called hotel security, and someone came out to escort me in. While I was waiting, a prostitute offered me her services (which I refused) SUGGESTIONS for improvement: 1. The hotel next door has three security guards outside who chase away undesirables. Maybe the Ahern should look into that. 2. When the doors are locked, post a sign in the door windows saying "Entrance closed- Please use lobby entrance" with an arrow pointing to the lobby. read more

Nice place for one night stay, wonderful breakfast (included)...away from the strip so need to take monorail or uber but worked great for us as we had tickets to concert at Westgate which is nearby. read more

Went to see the Beatles Tribute show Love Is All You Need. The show and venue was excellent. Plenty of parking, front row seats and an entertaining show. Ordered the best garlic Parmesan fries in Vegas. Found out they came from Joel's Steakhouse next door. read more
