Love the flexibility of being a member of Ahimsa! I can go to classes at different locations and can also do classes virtually either at class time or afterwards with a link that's good for 48 hours. My sister, my 86-year old Irish mother, and I took THE MOST AMAZING yoga/dance class here a few weekends ago!! I usually go to the Oak Park location for Ahimsa for yoga classes, but this was a special workshop being taught at the Berwyn location, so we all drove over. It was the most fun dance class I've ever taken! Taught by guest workshop teacher, E'a Williams, it was called AfroSoul and it was so uplifting and beautiful, my heart was soaring. It was 90 minutes, done barefoot, with gorgeous music. E'a is the perfect instructor. She explained how yoga and African dance as similar and explained what each of the moves meant and how they are connected. She is friendly, welcoming, funny, and kept the class really moving. I am going through some physical stuff and don't have the strength and stamina that I used to, but E'a made me feel like my body was perfect and I should feel proud of myself, and I do. My mother keeps asking when we can dance together again! My sister loved it, too. We will 1000% return to take another of E'a's dance classes at Ahimsa. I wish it was offered every weekend as I would totally start my Sunday this way every week. Highly recommend! read more

And your business model guarantees a similar yoga experience, no matter which studio we attend. Since the new owners have come on board I have noticed a distinct change in the members, old and new. Tonight was my first time back to yoga in a long time. Liz was my instructor and she was very welcoming from the beginning! We incorporated yoga straps and blocks- which I've actually never used before. I've only done yoga with just a mat (alright and maybe a mimosa). BUT! I love how she incorporated them and jumping back into it, I didn't feel out of place. We also practiced some wall work- which I LOVED. It brought me back to my elementary school gymnast days in the best way because you're ENCOURAGED to fling your legs up against the wall. I never knew this type of wall work yoga even existed!! Anyway, I went into the class with 4 full days of work stress inside me. I've had shortness of breath because of all the stress this week but Liz's deep breaths practices helped me so much. Thank you Liz! And I already bought the lavender eye pillow we used to finish class because I couldn't stop thinking about it :) read more

When I attended Ahimsa Berwyn for the first time I was almost a complete beginner. I was very nervous and was really hoping not to feel intimidated. It turned out there was no need to be nervous and I've now been practicing in Berwyn for seven months. It 's one of the best decisions I've made for my physical and emotional health. I've taken classes with several instructors and I encourage people to come and try it for a month.. take a bunch of classes and experience the different instructors. I appreciate the variety I get and I always learn something new. The instructors are very supportive and offer lots of guidance. The Restorative/Yin class was the perfect level to ease into an unfamiliar practice and the instructor was relaxed and helpful. It was all about stretching and meditation, and very doable for a complete newbie. Environment felt calm and welcoming. It was a little overwhelming as a first timer to get what I was supposed to do with the props but it's my own fault for not making it there early. I'm always intimidated in settings where I don't know what I'm supposed to do (especially when everyone else knows what they're doing), but I didn't feel intimidated at all. I LOVE Ahimsa!! I've been coming here since it opened back in September! I was so excited a studio was opening close to my area! I was having to travel 40 minutes to get to my old studio. I love love the teachers! Great space, great environment . Very peaceful, very clean.. Never struggle trying to find parking. The class options are great from beginners to all level classes! They make you feel warm and welcomed. There's No intimidation, everyone moves at there own pace. . If you never tried yoga before and are looking to begin this is the place for you. Berwyn's classes and environment are consistent with Oak Park's...I'm at home regardless of the studio I go to. In addition, a monthly membership allows you to attend sessions at any of the three locations. Words cannot describe the experience I've had going to Ahimsa. I started practicing yoga at Ahimsa in August 2014 at the Oak Park location. I was nervous. I entered the studio and was treated with nothing but respect. One amazing thing is that every teacher has his or her own style, yet they all have one thing in common...they welcome you, ask you if you have any injuries, ask if you have any questions, and honor your needs as an individual. The staff work diligently at getting to know each person that enters the studio. It only took a short time for me to attend classes and be called by my first name. Most times, when I go to the front desk, the staff person tells me they've already checked me in. It's such a personal experience. I feel welcome. It doesn't matter where you are at in your practice or your physical size. The culture is warm and accepting. I call Ahimsa my second home and attend classes regularly. Because of Ahimsa, yoga has become a regular part of my life. read more

I did the trail month of yoga and I really enjoyed the vinyasa flow and yin classes. It was awesome and the instructors remembered my name and are so friendly. I didn't like how small it was in there especially when there were a lot of people taking a class. I do like how they would ask if anyone has any injuries and they would modify the poses for you. They would even correct your pose which I thought was helpful. The prices are more affordable than other places I've seen. They even have other locations you can take classes in with the higher memberships. read more

I am absolutely new to yoga , I saw the studio in the neighborhood and thought about going in but never followed through . Finally I saw that they had an event on line to raise money for breast cancer . I attended and was hooked . I joined the unlimited first month for 49 dollars and I am trying a variety of classes. I loved every class so far and the instructors are compassionate and so well versed in their teaching , I see a change in my sleeping habits , concentration and my mood is more stable . Wow first to review! We went to ahimsa Oak Park for a while and really enjoyed it. We were super excited that they decided to open a location in Berwyn! The membership/class passes work at both locations, which is a bonus. The studio here is a small storefront. Street parking is usually quite easy, and there are usually more spots if you are heading north on Oak Park Ave (rather than south). The studio is small but well laid out and welcoming. A great addition to the community and I hope they stick around! For students new to yoga they have some excellent introductory offers. read more
