I recently just watched a musical here at the Ahmanson Theatre here in Los Angeles. I've been here once before many years ago to watch Mary Poppins. I don't live too far away from here but it's always a trek coming down to downtown LA. And the tickets I received is said to park in the music center garage. Parking was $10 and really efficient. It took a while to get our bearings to find out where we could park and what was available. And at the very end, it was actually pretty efficient to get out of there as well. We're on level P6 and we were directed to go down towards the lower level and everything was very efficient to then come back up to the surface.. It's a beautiful venue. It's not huge, but they're able to make great use of the space. We sat in the balcony and got a great view and we were able to see everything fairly well. There are lots of concession stands throughout and you're even able to pre-order drinks and snacks and beverages for the intermission. Overall, it's a great venue, it's even closer to me than the Pantages, where they have a lot of other musicals as well. We caught a great show here too. This is definitely a hidden gem that I'll be excited to come back to again in the future when there are future events. Everything is so well organized and it was a great experience. read more

Been to Mama Mia with friends last week. Given that events like these easily add up to $200pP (tickets, parking, a drink, no food) for mediocre seats, I was a bit put off by the poor sound. Venue, Ambiance and drink quality and service was as one would expect, but the sound was disappointing - we have seen better in this very venue. read more

We've been here twice to watch &Juliet and Mamma Mia. There's a great selection of broadway musicals on rotation at this theatre. Most of the seats have a decent view of the stage, although the seats are pretty narrow so you're almost elbow to elbow with the person sitting next to you. It does get a little warm in the theatre too and I wish they'd lower the temperature of the AC a couple of degrees. Parking is usually pretty easy at the music centre garage for $10 but do arrive early as the line to get into the garage can get backed up. read more

Ahmanson Theatre really impressed me. I didn't know what to think as I have never been and it was great. I sat at Orchestra Rear, Row R, Seat 1. It was a great seat for me as I was able to see the stage. The way that the theater was set up, it was designed for all to see. I would like to try the upper level to see if that's a better angle. But for my $40 that I spent, I was VERY happy for the price and the seats. I picked up my ticket from Will Call, it was an easy pickup. The parking is at the Music Center entrance for $10 and you take the escalators upstairs to the theater which was nice and convenient. There's beverages, sandwiches and snacks to purchase as well. I went to watch Kim's Convenience and I was also lucky that they had the cast speaking at the end of the play so that was still well worth the money. Watch Kim's Convenience at the Ahmanson. Seated at the first row in Mezzanine. Great spot to watch the funny and endearing play. Only bad thing is that the woman behind me was reacting loudly. The play was well written and well acted. The only scene that was not well situated was the church scene. They could have brought down a backdrop or curtain and then project the stained glass windows. The store is still prominent even if it was dimmed. read more

Haven't been here in over ten years. Returned recently to watch "Paranormal Activity- Live on Stage". Parked under the theater for $10 (not bad considering it's DTLA) and it was very convenient as we took a couple of escalators to reach street level. The area was abuzz as it was opening night, so expectations (for the performance) were high. We decided to make our way in...as the staff scanned our digital tickets, we were ushered to the side and were handed a hand-written seat replacement ticket. For some reason, they decided to move us from the aisle seats to middle seats (same row), which provided a much better view. The lovely staff person explained that they did some last-minute changes and felt that our original seats were not up-to-par. What an unexpected and welcome surprise. The theater itself is an LA staple, especially because it's part of the Music Center complex. Although the interior is not lavish or flashy, it delivers a great experience. Seats are comfortable...and enough space provided in between rows to allow most patrons to pass without any issues. It was easy to exit the theater itself as well as the parking area. Great theater a lot of really fun plays. You have to pre-order for intermission before intermission to make it quicker. Otherwise there is a high chance you won't be able to get anything during their 15 minute intermission. Overall the staff is pretty helpful and friendly. Sometimes the tickets have you go into the door that isn't closest to the seat. Anything farther then 10 rows back on orchestra probably needs binoculars to see things really well. The rent for the binoculars are $5 cash and they take your drivers license. Parking at the location was $10 (cash), the night I went... why do they do so much cash. I didn't get any food or drinks because I didn't pre order before intermission and waited in line just to run out of time lol. read more

Ahmanson theatre is located in downtown Los Angeles. I have actually never been here before as I am an OC girly but one of my girlfriends wanted to see "& Juliet" for her birthday so made my way to LA. I recommend allotting plenty of time prior for parking as the structures do get back logged quite a bit! The two nearby parking structures were charging $10 flat fee. Cash will be your best bet but they do take card. Otherwise the theatre itself is a decent size. The only true complaint is the stairs leading up to the higher levels felt tight and congested. Otherwise manageable. We were also seated in row A in the mezzanine and the restroom was inconveniently on the other end so it felt like a mission to get to the restroom. We attended a showing of Paranormal Activity here this afternoon and had an excellent time. We parked in the theater's parking garage which is located under the theater. Parking was $10 dollars and could be paid by cash or credit card, though the cash only lane was moving much faster. Getting from the garage up to the theater was easy with escalators going up to plaza level. The theater itself is sleek and modern with a large lobby and multiple concession stands spaced throughout. I particularly like how the theater makes use of the plaza space outside as an outer lobby of sorts. Inside the theater is spacious with modestly sized seats. We were seating near the rear of mezzanine and had a clear view of the stage. I've attended multiple productions here and while some seats are a bit far from the stage, there are really very few truly "bad" seats which is refreshing. Overall, this venue is one of my favorites for live theater in LA. read more

I couldn't find a listing for the food stand so this will have to do. The taco sampler was revelatory. I always thought the food around the Center Theatre Group of buildings wasn't very appetizing and supremely over-priced. But the tacos at this stand were in line with the value of other more high-end taco joints. All three of them were a hit, but especially the Barbacoa. That was a beast of flavor and tenderness. All the staff was nice, even if I had only planned to get two of the tacos. Such miscommunication is excusable when you're outside and dealing with the ambient noise of traffic and crowds. The tables nearby were perfect places to take in all the taco magnificence and I found myself pleasantly surprised they actually had decent food before the show. read more

I feel so cultured having seen many performances in the past couple of years, many of which I have enjoyed at the Ahmanson Theatre. Off the top of my head, I recently saw Ben Platt's performance, Paranormal Activity, & Juliet, Hamlet, and Life of Pi. Ahmanson is in Downtown Los Angeles at The Music Center. In addition to purchasing tickets, I've enjoyed being a friend's plus one in the lottery, and I've had complimentary tickets from time to time. I read that the theater can fit 2000 people, and it's modern and chic, very clean and simple. I sometimes run into people I know at the theater, which is always a pleasant surprise. The staff is always great and helpful, especially in getting seated quickly. read more

I've been to the Ahmanson Theatre a few times, most recently to see & Juliet! The theatre overall is great. The sound is good and there really isn't a bad view in the house. It's easy to get in and get to your seats. The whole space including the bathrooms is clean. My only callout is that the balcony feels really steep to me. I was there for The Lehman Trilogy a few years ago, and at intermission I actually had to ask someone if I could be moved anywhere on a lower level. They were able to move me and my group of 4 to the back of the mezzanine. The overhang was not an issue at all. For & Juliet, I was in mezzanine row E seat 14, which is a little off center, but not all the way at the end. It was great! No obstructions at all. The service is wonderful. There are people stationed at every reasonable location to point you in the right direction. Getting in is really efficient. Parking is available for $10 cash underneath in the Music Center Garage. The information is clearly outlined on their website. It can take a little time to park and get up to the theatre, so I would allot at least 15 minutes for this process. I purchased the & Juliet tickets through Center Theatre Group's group ticketing service. The process was super customer friendly. You get to pick your seats, pay a 10% deposit within the month of your order, and then pay the full amount by a month before the show date. The prices were great and did not include the fees - just 1 $25 handling fee for the whole group of 14. Tickets can be delivered digitally or you can choose to pick up at will call. I picked up at will call - super easy, just showed them my ID. There was a step and repeat backdrop outside and a neon light of the show logo for people to take photos. There was a merch table upon entry, and a few refreshment stands. There are a couple but not a lot of food options within a reasonable walking distance, but we saw a lot of people that brought their own spreads and sat at the tables outside the theatre. Kind of like the Hollywood Bowl! I enjoy seeing shows at the Ahmanson and will happily go anytime there's something I want to see there! read more

I've sat in several sections in orchestra and in the mezzanine in the past and I find that the view, sound and overall atmosphere of the venue are quite great to be able to enjoy the show. Parking at the LA music center is easy, $10 flat rate (cash only) and there are several restaurants for food and drink(I like going to Kendall's, they're super efficient for theater service) and bars in the plaza and surrounding area. They also have concessions where you can pre-order cocktails at intermission (super convenient) and you are allowed to bring your beverages inside the theater. Every time I've been here it's always been a great experience. Parking situation always helps with underground parking. You could also get lucky and get street parking nearby. Outside, it's beautiful with the courtyard and park is literally walking distance. This visit was for the play Parade. There's a bar outside that offers drinks and snack before hand. They also have it inside on the main level and orchestra level. With drinks, they're in plastic cups with lids so you're able to take it inside to your seat with you. It's all cashless transactions. I've been in orchestra, mezzanine and balcony. Honestly, mezzanine takes the cakes for me. You get the full view of the stage versus having to look up while in orchestra. Regardless, wherever you sit is nice. Play was great, cast were excellent as well as their singing voice. Encore.... Beautiful theatre that has a lot of amazing show. read more

There's never a dull moment in DTLA since there are so many venues to go to. It has been over a year since I was last here and this time around we came to see the Paranormal Activities play. We had seats way up on top at a bargain price of 15 bucks each but you don't get to see the stage that well from up there. It wasn't crowded in the back and we had our own door so exiting was easy. For $45, I had a great low stakes time. Cheap $10 parking across the street at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Went to see paranormal activity play. It was awesome!! What's not so awesome is the parking situation. If I wasn't with other people I would've broke down crying trying to find my car. Feels like you go down 10 floors into hell but we eventually found our cars. But would definitely go back for another show!! Seats are row Q in the orchestra. I've been going to the Ahmanson Theatre for years and have seen countless shows there. Over time, I've picked up a few tips and tricks that might be helpful. First, parking: You can find free parking in certain areas if you know where to look, but if you prefer convenience, parking inside the facility is relatively affordable for downtown--usually under $10. Metered parking also opens up after 7 PM. As for seating, the auditorium is quite tall, and I wouldn't recommend the balcony unless you don't mind looking down on the actors' heads. If you book early, you can often find affordable seats in the back on the sides of the orchestra level, which still offer a great view without the high price tag. Food inside the theater is expensive--my turkey sandwich was $20--so I suggest grabbing a bite beforehand. There are affordable options nearby, like the Subway sandwich shop. We won tickets to this play at the recent street food cinema Halloween event and seeing them in November seemed a little late. I've never been to this theater before and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being downtown and around all the performing arts. Parking was immediately below the facility, which was nice and close. We had mezzanine level seats, which are kind of in the middle, but still far enough away that you have to really look to see facial expressions. I hadn't seen the movie this play was based on for a very long time and had pretty much forgot what it was all about, but that was OK as the play is a standalone piece. I found it to be similar to the movie but less effective in its building of suspense. Overall, the play was good, but lots of slow sections with moments of gotcha action. We really enjoyed the play, but we're glad the tickets came to us for free... read more

I've been to the Ahmanson Theater for many musicals over the years, most recently for &Juliet. I love that it's a smaller venue than the Pantages, and the seats are much more comfortable. We sat in Mezz Row D (entered through Door 12) and they were fantastic seats. There are a few fun photo ops outside and in the lobby that get you excited before the show. We had dinner elsewhere, but even arriving 30 minutes before curtain on a Friday night, parking was easy--and only $10, which is a steal in LA! Note that women's restroom is all the way to the left, men's all the way to the right. Overall, a great experience--enjoy the show! read more

My local spot. This is where I come to watch plays and musicals when their run hits LA. If you want to splurge, sit in the first few rows. If you're being thrifty, the orchestra is decent. You're definitely high up there, but you still have a decent view. The seating is stacked so no one is blocking your view. A tiny binocular helps. A couple people in our area were using theirs. Parking is available in the garage right under the building. It can get too crowded with everyone taking their time to enter. Make sure you have the $10 cash for payment. If everyone were prepared there wouldn't be a queue circling the block. I opt for uber because there's no way in hell I'm driving to DTLA. They have a bar setup outside right by the entrance which was a nice touch. The service is always top notch Seeing Sondheim's Old Friends made me remember that I need to come here more often. Great AC, great views, great production each time. I came in here in the past to see Dear Evan Hansen, and recently for &Juliet and Sailor Moon. I left impressed each time. I do recommend going onto A View from My Seat before choosing seats as some seats can be more obstructed than others if you're under 5"7 (I found myself peering over some heads the first time). The parking structure is also right under the theater so it's very easy to park and make it to your seat in time if you are at least 15 minutes early. I do wish the halls were a bit bigger inside or for them to sell souvenirs outside instead since it gets a bit crowded at the souvenir booth and bars, but it's not too big of a deal. Bathrooms are pretty clean. Can vouch for this theater to give you a good experience. read more

I came twice to see "Old Friends" and had a great experience! I would recommend downloading the TodayTix app to get discounted tickets and rush tickets. This is how I got $25 fee-inclusive tickets. The same tickets cost me $50 each + fees. Parking is a $10 flat fee and right underneath the theater. It was super convenient for me. There are several bus stops nearby the theater as well and it's not far from Union Station. In terms of food and drink, there is wine, coffee, water, etc and small overpriced snacks for sale. You can eat and drink at your seat. Next time I would probably bring a small quiet snack and drink. read more

Theater is not dead in Los Angeles the music center has some great performances and I would suggest checking out the season. I believe I have been coming here for close to 55 years and each players unique personally I like the Orchestra, but I have also sat in the balcony and enjoyed the show very good acoustics and they still print a program. Did you become a subscriber you'll save on some of the fees. Food/bar is minimal at best. You can get a cookie coffee or drink with regards to service in need they will show you to your seat be prepared to stand every so often before the show starts because people tend to arrive a little late. The music center itself is down to only two restaurants Abernathy's, which has a new menu every three months and Kendall's which is a hard pass for me. Food quality is just not what it used to be to be. Pre-Theater meals can be found in the area across the street at the Disney hall and in some of the hotels in the area we like one restaurant, but you'd have to park and then move your car which is Magioni Republic. Chinatown is also nearby. You can bring food and eat on the plaza. It's up to you. read more

The Ahmanson Theater is such a great venue! I've been to 2 shows recently and sat in the balcony both times. I thought the view was quite good from our seats and it appears that any seat in the house would be good. The temperature was not too cold or too hot so I was able to be without a sweater. Restrooms were clean. Light snacks and drinks available le for purchase. Parking can be in the Music Center garage that can be accessed on Grand Ave. It is $10 which isn't bad! On my last trip to the theater, there was also some metered street parking though that is probably a rarity. I've also seen that some neighboring restaurants may give a discount if you are going to a show. I saw this on reservation platform but you could Probably also just Google to see which restaurants participate. You must show your tickets for the discount (digitally or physically). Overall, it's a fantastic place to enjoy some live theater performances. read more
