What I got was an unnecessarily oversized salad with minimal chicken in it, overdressed with a dressing that is NOT Caesar dressing (and way too vinegary that burns your lips) on a bed of DARK greens WITH tomato and cucumbers (which a Caesar salad shouldn't have) and over-burnt croutons. That and a Vitaminwater for a sum total of $18.24. Not sure if I'll be a patron to this place again. read more

I happened to be in the area and was hungry (I didn't eat breakfast), but I didn't feel like going to whole foods like I usually do. It was closer to lunch when I came in, so I decided to get a steak and cheese sandwich instead of a breakfast menu item. I also got an iced latte, which didn't come with sugar. I had to add that in myself. But the sandwich was delicious. My only complaint is that it was way too oily it was dripping a lot as I ate. But the sandwich was cooked well, and I enjoyed the standard toppings. They have a pretty diverse menu. I recommend checking them out if you're in the area. read more

Had to go for a morning meeting in downtown. It got delayed, I went in search of hearty breakfast. Was a bit skeptical I can find anything good besides coffee and carbs. Found a gem!!! This little cafe is wonderful. Sparkling clean, nice mild music, wonderful smells. I went for a large breakfast ( can easily be a lunch). Followed fellow Yelpers recommendation and ordered Western Omelette Platter. I was not disappointed. I asked for "everything " and there it was: spinach, cold cuts, extra cheese, mushrooms, tomatoes, red and green peppers, I am sure I missed something. The omelette was large, tasty and , of course, made to order. It came with a large serving of tasty potatoes and two slices of grilled bread ( I chose the sourdough). Wonderful cafe downtown, with great service by the nice owners, delicious food, a cozy environment for a meal and coffee. The owners here are so so nice, you get treated like family. You're greeted with a smile and it just feels like you've known them for years. I haven't tried every single item on the menu, but their chicken Cesar wrap is delicious and is my go to. The food is made extremely fast and right in front of you as well. If you want some good food, with friendly service and if you're in a hurry, this is the place to go. But if you have some time to sit down, I would recommend taking a seat inside to enjoy your food and enjoy the ambiance. read more

Very good coffee and breakfast. I stopped in randomly out of need for food and coffee asap! It was quiet and clean.

Generally this place is appealing for it's convenient location near work. However I do think it's overpriced and I really don't like the inconsistent application of the "under $5 no credit card" rule. The first time I stopped in for a bag of chips which was like $2.69 and I used my card no problem. The second time I ordered a bagel and the lady said no card for under $5 so I gave her cash. I mean 1. I don't think it's legal to push this "rule" 2. Even if it was, an inconsistent application of the rule does not amount to repeat customers. Then I took a break from coming back until I won a $10 gift card from the building to use at the cafe. So yea I used it. The issues was I found a chicken bone in my salad. Yay they are using fresh chicken but booo that the quality control is low. Just not going to be a frequent customer here, needless to say. read more

The prices are extremely reasonable, and the coffee is delicious. The manager/owner is almost always there - she is a wonderful woman who makes you feel like you're her favorite customer every single time she sees you! Ideal quick spot for breakfast, very clean and bright compared to other counter service 'cafes' in the area that serve breakfast. A larger selection than I was expecting in terms of food. Only downside is there's only one flavor of cream cheese - but that's fine considering how quick they are. Really disappointed in my breakfast this morning. Ordered a cheddar cheese omelet with tomatoes and side of bacon. I come here often, I work across the street , so I didn't think I had to hover while they prepare my food. Unfortunately, when I got back to the office ready to eat, I find that there are no tomatoes in my omelet and they used American cheese that wasn't even melted all the way. This cafe recently opened right next to where I have class and I'm so happy it did! I only ordered a drink but immediately when you walk in the food smelled incredible. The decor is clean and modern and I could definitely picture meeting a friend here for coffee or camping out at a table to get some work done. I wasn't there long, but I noticed they don't have comfy chairs like some other cafes. They mainly have tables, but it was still a cozy looking place. I ordered a large Chai latte and the cashier asked if I wanted it with "spice or vanilla." I've never been asked that before when ordering a Chai so I was definitely interested to see what this would taste like. I decided to try the vanilla and it was fantastic! She did a great job of including the vanilla flavor but at the same time it didn't overwhelm the entire drink; the Chai flavors were definitely still detectable. This creamy drink is perfect for a rainy day! Hoping to get back there to try their sandwiches as well. If the food is as good as the drinks, then this is a great little cafe! read more

I passed this nondescript deli/cafe about a dozen times without succumbing to my curiosity. Thankfully, I took the time to pay this hidden gem near 21st and K St NW a visit today. I ordered the bibimbap. If you don't like any of the ingredients, you can ask them to not include the ones you don't like. Also, they recognize that people have different tolerance levels for spicy food, but I was given plenty of gochujang. I think this might be the best bibimbap I've had in the district! I tried a brownie too. Not sure if they're made in-house, but it was awesome. I hope to try their breakfast options during my next visit. read more

I've recently discovered this place, and I've been loving everything I've had so far. My favorite is the bulgogi bibimbap -- which Ahra Cafe does a great job of creating and keeping the integrity of what it actually should be. Forget the other trendy bibimbap/rice bowl places, this is the real deal because lemme tell ya, if you're eating bibimbap with kale or edamame or bamboo shoots etc etc sprinkled over it like a giant grain salad bowl, drop everything and go to Ahra cafe because that ain't right. As someone who is Korean, this tastes like what I grew up eating. Also, they don't charge extra for bulgogi -- which is great because that's how it's actually served, so OG. I've also had their grilled chicken avocado bowl, and I'm just so amazed by the fresh ingredients they use. Inside of this cafe is clean, and the owners and employees are super friendly. There's plenty of seating and I can't wait to go back to try their other items like the different sandwiches, breakfast and coffee drinks they have. If you work in the general Farragut Square/Dupont area, I highly recommend stopping by this place for your breakfast/lunch fix! read more

Love this place. People are very nice, when you order your sandwich you see it being made in front of you. They will customize it anyway you want. I recommend the grilled chicken, they will throw it on the griddle with onions, it's pretty delicious. Never tried it for breakfast but I hear they make a good breakfast platter. The best place that I have went to during my 6 months of internship in DC! Went there during lunch time and I was absolutely stunned by the atmosphere of the restaurant. Great facilities, delicious food, and most importantly, great staff members! All staffs were so friendly which made my day much more positive.
