This was really good!! I had this place bookmarked since the previous time I visited DC. We had attended a hockey game and were starving afterwards. I knew I wanted a burger but was struggling with choosing which one. Hubs knew he wanted the Cheesesteak and knew I wanted fries. I went with the Smokehouse burger. We grabbed a seat and did not wait long for our food to come out. I really enjoyed my burger and scarfed it down! I paid for sauces, which were tiny and super overpriced. Entering HipCityVeg after getting pleasantly lost during my evening DC stroll, I realized I was really hungry. In that state, I could only stare dumbly at the menu while standing at the counter. Everything looked like exactly what I wanted to eat. But I finally settled on the smokehouse burger: a Beyond Meat patty topped with onion rings and smoked gouda with a golden BBQ sauce. Extremely satisfying. The employee at the counter recommended the Sriracha aioli to go with my sweet potato fries, and I'm glad she did. man I love this place. as a lifetime vegetarian, I was thrilled when I found out about this in philly a few years back. then they opened in dc and I couldn't wait to try it out. Their veg nuggets are crispy, flavorful and come with the best dipping sauces - i recommend the siracha aioli and hipcity sauce. The cauliflower nuggets are also delightful and bring a whole new flavor profile to fried foods. The fries- reg and sweet potato- are always up to par and allow for two dipping sauces! I think the veggie burger could use some work, at least consistency-wise, but my parents both love the meatball sub and ziggy burger. The delivery and takeout is usually pretty fast, but I also like to order there because the people are typically pretty friendly. the storefront itself is pretty small, only 4-5 places to sit and eat, but it serves its purpose if you wanna stay there to chow down. The menu has burgers, sandwiches, nuggets, fries, shakes, and more, so they cover all the fast food bases but with everything vegan. The cheesesteak (got everything on it, left nothing off) is really good to the point where I had to ask if it was vegan, which of course it is! I'm a huge fan of their curry tofu wrap (as a wrap or as a salad), as well as their arugula taco salad. The mediterranean chopped salad is a bit heftier, but makes fantastic leftovers -- just be sure to get the dressing on the side if you'd like to keep the salad for more than a day. The kale lemonade is SO refreshing, I highly recommend the drink on a hot sunny day. They also have a banana whip frozen shake which is quite delicious if you're looking for a "healthier" dessert alternative, it's worth a try for sure! Their milkshakes are made with soy ice cream - the entire menu is vegan based which is awesome. There is not a ton of seating here, but the location is very convenient. The small fries were like a kiddie size and were a little blah (I was driving so I didn't use the sauce). Prior to me sharing my thoughts, I asked my husband if he thought they've gone downhill a little. He said he felt like they cut back on the size of the sandwich (he had the crispy ranch sandwich).
