Vacationing in BC, we are in parks ville and had a hankering for seafood. The halibut sandwich I was told by the hubs was good. Jambalaya shrimp was missing flavors and salt. The parmesan linguine was meh. Missing some flavors in my opinion. Chicken was braded and topped with 3 type of cheese, cheddar, parmesan and mozzarella. Chicken tenders were ok. Honestly one of the best fish & chips I've had. The batter is crispy, tasty and light. Portions are sizable to share amongst 2. The quality of the fish is fresh and supple. I used to Love Aioli. Will never go back. My shrimp were undercooked twice and the waitress refused to take them back again. Said they had to be made new but my friends were finished with lunch. One of my friends, a disabled 90 year old was blasted by the waitress because she complained that the clam chowder was full of potatoes and few clams. My friend tried to end the conversation and the waitress leanerd in in a threatening manner and said that was just as well becuase she would say something insulting if they didn't. My friend had broght 10 of usa there for her birthday and other people too. I left hungry and we all left upset. I called the manager and got no return call. I emailed him a detailed email about the incident and he never replied. That's appallng. Never again. It was a very distressing incident. read more

We had never dined here and saw so many reviews so thought we would give it a try . Staff were so nice and attentive as well as helpful in choices. The stuffed avocado were delicious a must try , red snapper topped with crab and three cheeses as well as the sweet potato mash excellent . The last time I went and ate at this popular local spot my dear old dad was still around. now some seven years later I realized Karla and I hadn't tried it together so off we went wow were we ever impressed? The food was sensational and the fact that it took about a half an hour to get our meal was not an issue that meant that the busy kitchen that you can see, bustling around was making everything fresh. We will certainly be going back the appetizers and the two main courses I had a shrimp gumbo, which was to die for some of the best seafood we've had locally. Went for lunch during the week there, the place is a small but comfy place. As it is known for seafood i ordered the Ling Cod + Chips with a side of gravy, My fiance ordered the Sweet Corn Chowder with Crab for our entrees and the Crispy Calamari for our appetizers. The Calamari and my fiances entree came at once, but they brought the wrong entree for her they brought a West Coast Seafood Chowder? She returned the wrong entree and i asked when my entree was coming as i seen other patrons come in after us and they already had their main entrees served, she thought i wanted my entree after? WTF? So as my fiance finishes her Corn Chowder and our calamari my Fish + Chips arrive without my side of gravy i asked upon ordering, After talking to her she gets the gravy from the kitchen, its like dirty water, no taste and a watery base. The fish was nice and fresh along with the great fries. I told the server about the gravy as i only tasted it once with one of my fries and left it to the side. She replied "Oh, really? i haven't tried it yet"?? WTF? We asked for the bill and as she was setting it down on the table said that she couldn't do anything for us on our bill in regards to having the wrong entree being served with the appetizer and my meal coming 20 minutes after my fiance finished her meal, also got charged for the gravy(dirty water). Fish & chips are never so fresh as the way they serve them here. Cannot get enough of it. And I love the crunchy coleslaw! The staff are very accomodating of my wheelchair and move furniture around so I can fit in without any problems. The very friendly staff are always happy and chatty even when its a takeout order, which comes out so hot that by the time I get up the hill and home its still hot and yummy. I enjoy seeing and hearing the families eating and laughing and joking with the staff. If you expect peace and quiet with your meal you better stay home because there is no avoiding the laughter of the customers and staff in our beautiful seaside town. I wholeheartedly recommended. We had seafood trio and lobster bisque for appetizers, two orders of grilled shrimps with two sides, jambalaya, and shrimp scampi linguine. They were all absolutely amazing. A few things: Make your a reservation if there's a table left; they let customers reserve about half the available seating. Expect to wait a little longer for your food (like everywhere else because the entire island is short staff at the moment). Come reasonably hungry but not hangry. Lastly, enjoy the food and service. We waited 15 minutes in line for seating, then 60 minutes for food which NEVER CAME. The server forgot to enter the order. Just a "I'm sorry but..." We left very disappointed and hungry. We were served ice cold water with a lemon slice, which cruelly prepared us for a delightful meal which never came. Our first restaurant meal since the beginning of Covid isolation - and it was definitely worth the wait! I had the fish and chips. Cooked to perfection! Then we finished off with a decadent cheesecake. Delish, and beautifully presented. Even though the service was social distanced, it was warm and friendly. So glad we went there today. Awesome west coast chowder and fried oyster! Best causal and reasonably priced seafood restaurant in Parksville.

On my continuing tour of Parksville restaurants, this one was a little bit further afield of my office - so in order for it to be added to the regular rotation, it was going to need to blow me away. It certainly had its upside - the primary option, a 2 piece fish-and-chips was VERY reasonably priced at $7.95. It was served hot and fast, and - while I don't normally comment on these sorts of things - it has to be said that the server was very pretty. Not to mention polite and attentive. The downside was that the fish was definitely on the greasy side. I don't mind getting a bit of oil, especially in fish and chips, but it was a wee bit much in this case. The tartar sauce also wasn't particularly zesty - it certainly seemed like it wasn't prepared on site, though I wouldn't want to swear to that. In the end, I'd probably go there if I was short on scratch and wanted hot and fast fish; if i was feeling a bit more flush, it'd be worth the upcharge to go to one of the other options in town. read more

We had to stop in Parksville for the afternoon and knew we'd be having a late lunch somewhere but had no idea where to go. Spotted this place as we parked for another errand, headed in and were thrilled with the spontaneous decision! The decor is not fancy, but the place smelled terrific and was also clean. Waitress was super friendly, warm and efficient. My mom had an entrée special, and our friend and I had the pan fried oysters (amazing!!!) with different seafood chowders. The corn clam chowder was hot and sweet and soooo delicious, the other was rich and buttery. The baked snapper was scrumptious. Service was fantastic. Food exceptional. Can't wait to return. We showed up and were told that a wait for our family of 4, would be about 45min. Location has extremely limited seating and a tiny kitchen (formerly Joe's Only). Second - food is a hit and a miss. Kids had fish and was well worth the almost $20 a plate. I had the BOUILLABAISSE and I basically got nothing. A bowl of a few mussels and a chuck a fish. Worst thing ever tasted. Wife stuck with the fish and chips because it was something even they couldn't screw up. Lastly - staff didn't even have a clue on how to start a waiting list and no idea on how to calculate the wait time. And im sorry to say - being a blonde didn't help. This place is awful. I have never seen calamari look like that before. It looked like a ball of deep fried dough. There was no flavor. I couldn't even tell what kind of seafood it was. Extensive dinner menu includes $17.95 prix fixe 4-course dinner. Tonight we shared a steamed prawn dumpling appetizer, and I had excellent rock cod on a bed of chorizo, veggies and clams. Finding a restaurant open on a Monday in Parksville was proving a challenge, so we were glad to find Aioli. However after waiting 5 minutes for a menu, we could guess how the rest of the evening would turn out. The kitchen was also extremely slow and when our entrees finally arrived an hour after we had sat down, the veggies were stone cold. The coke I ordered never arrived (but at least it didn't show up on the bill). Besides this, however, the seafood was fresh and tasty and we enjoyed our meals. Our waitress kept us topped up with water and the desserts were yum. I was told the key lime pie is made on site, and I can recommend! This place is definitely not fancy - think tacky nautical theme, plastic tablecloths and unruly kids. The other reviews here have been really good, so maybe we caught them on an off night. Unfortunately as we were passing through town we won't be able to give this restaurant a second chance. read more

Bad rude service I came in the other night at 7:45 I was greeted at the front by the waitress I told her I would like to place an order to go. She handed me a menu and said "ok but we close soon". The website said open until 9pm. Maybe the kitchen closes at 8? So I placed my order with her and while I was waiting it started to rain. Since I had walked to the restaurant I didn't want to walk in the rain and asked her if it would be ok if I ate there instead of having my food to go. She said "no because I already placed your order to go" I said ok can the kitchen just put my food on a plate instead of putting it in to a to go box?" She looked at another waitress nearby and said "do you want a table?" The other waitress replied "no I'm not taking anymore tables" right in front of me. I should've just left right then. As a server myself I understand sometimes it's annoying if tables come in right before closing but the website said the place was open for over another hour when I came in and I noticed many other tables were waiting for food themselves so I'm not sure why I couldn't eat there myself. My food was very good compliments to the chef but I felt very unwelcome there by the staff. Great food but I will never b Still have never heard back from a manager.
