Josh clearly reflects the company's philosophy for professionality and for integrity. After my AC stopped working, we spent two grueling days in a hot and humid house. Before I found Santa Fe, I called another company that seem to have great reviews based on Google business ratings, I later found that they are rated 2.5 stars on Yelp (don't trust Google for real reviews). The first company sent a technician out, who had a faulty meter and could not complete a full diagnostic, but, he said he was pretty sure the compressor needed replacing ($3000). Being that he did not do a full diagnostic, I turned the offer down. That night, after reading more reviews on local companies, I decided to schedule an appointment with Santa Fe Air heating and cooling, this was easily done on their web site. I did not have to wait long, at 0715 the next morning, Santa Fe called me to set up an appointment. In less than an hour one of their technician was at my house. Josh had me turn the AC unit on, and found that the unit was running properly, blowing plenty of cold air. The unit had been shut off since the previous company's visit, who had suggested to keep the unit turned off until the repair was completed. Josh asked me if the filter had been changed recently, as a dirty filter can cause the unit to lock, and that this had been mostly likely the problem. As a matter of fact, I had changed the filter the night before, after I realized that the filter was very dirty. The other company did not mention the filter as a possible cause, and rather had me incur an expensive repair. It has been 3 days since then and my AC is running great. I will be purchasing one of their maintenance plan for piece of mind. I can't say enough good things about my experience with Santa Fe Air heating and cooling. I am impressed with their integrity and values that are now days very hard to find. I will be calling them for all my HVAC needs.

Coldest day in December, Saturday night, heater goes out around 9PM. Called and the answering service didn't even know what company I had called. "Someone will call you back on Monday when they get into the office." HELLO!?!? my heater is out on the coldest day of the year. Is there is no emergency service available? "Oh yes, we have an emergency service option and they will call you when they get in on Monday." Monday 9am, got a call. VM. No urgency, no nothing. AVOID Santa Fe HVAC and any other company that is PE owned. I was on a service agreement and they would not refund the unused visit. AVOID.

I scheduled the A/C tuneup this season and was told that the fan was not working and they gave me a quote of $800 to service it and $2700 to give it full workup!!! THAT'S WITH THE DISCOUNT!!! I called around and found another certified HVAC specialist who offered to come out and look at it. They spent 30 minutes at the house and had me up and running for only $75. The fixed the fan and filled it with freon as well as looking at the rest of the system to make sure I was up to par. I called and canceled my service contract the next day.

The service has been consistently excellent, with very friendly technicians who do a great job of presenting you with options without pressuring you to spend more money that you should. I can't guarantee that their prices are the cheapest in town; but I'm willing to pay slightly more for a company that I know will stand by its work. I have to give one specific example -- we recently had a technician stop by because our A/C seemed to be running less efficiently than usual. As he went down the steps of our garage to begin his inspection, he slipped on a workout mat that I had forgotten at the foot of the stair -- It was completely my fault and I felt horrible. He seemed to hurt his knee and to be in some discomfort. I would have absolutely understood if he had called off the service to return at a later date, or if he had offered rushed or less than courteous service. Of course, he did nothing of the kind, but offered the usual patient and thorough service that I've become accustomed to. He inspected our system and cleaned our A/C unit, which fixed the inefficiencies that we had been experiencing. The kicker, after all this, is that we were charged nothing at all because the service agreement from our A/C purchase, which I had completely forgotten about, was still in effect! I had called a couple of other places in KC and they were all telling me it would be two to three days before they had an opening to get there, but not KC Prestige! They were at my house less than 2 hrs after I called and had it all fixed in 20mins. My technician, Kamale was really thorough and walked me through what had happened and gave me some advice on future maintenance schedules. As a new homeowner I need all the help I can get and I really appreciated being educated during the process. I can't thank them enough! Oh, and it's very affordable! They quoted me an expected service fee of $79 and then I paid for the wire and compressor replacement as well (my compressor was still working, but was over 5yrs old and probably would need the replacement in the near future any way, so I figured go for it while I have someone competent and honest here). All total was $280, which is about than what a hotel for two nights would have cost me and that's where I would have been if they hadn't rushed over to assist me.

They stated that before replacement they would like to come out and try and diagnose the problem before replacement, very honest people. -- July 2024 Update -- When our indoor unit would not kick…read moreon, I went outside to see that the compressor was cycling. The inside unit had a code displayed clearly. I called Buckners to have them come take a peek, and service the unit (which was ~1.5yr old). They sent a new technician who did not understand the issue. They first thought the unit was low on refrigerant. They then overcharged the unit. They called to the office for a second opinion. They told me that the TXV was sized/not opening. I once again asked about the code on the front. They did not take a look at the code, which the definition is printed clearly on the inside of the furnace panel. They wasted four hours of my time, sent the new guy (with no support), overcharged my system, and recommended a repair which I did not need. I then received an email with a $619 dollar estimate for the labor (as parts were covered under the manufacturer's warranty). But don't worry, there's a cheaper member price! They have an offered "membership" you can pay for monthly to allow you a discounted cost on a repair you didn't even require. I asked why the price was so high, becuase it was a 1-2 hour repair, and they said they always estimate high in the case that it takes too long, we would not pay more. Ultimately that behavior only serves the business. I got a second opinion from a commercial HVAC tech, and he instantly looked at the code, connected a module to read the blower motor status, and recommended a repair. The total time to repair was around one hour. Ultimately, Buckners was a pretty good company early on, but after they were bought things seem much worse: - Scammy practices having a "member" price ... Labor price is inflated to push you toward a monthly subscription - Unexperienced technicians deployed without someone to back them up (this is really Buckner's fault, not the new guy) - Overcharging for simple repairs - Almost caused damage to my condenser compressor due to over pressurization - Wasted my time, and I ultimately was in a state of disrepair longer due to their incompetence The ONLY reason I post these experiences is to warn others who may not be aware of what's happening and have no idea how modern HVAC systems work. In July, I called Buckners to come out and take a look at a furnace because I thought it smelled…read moreodd. The furnace is old and has a pilot light. The technician briefly shined his light at the furnace, without taking the front cover off, and declared that the furnace was too old to look at. He would not even attempt to diagnose, and instead said I needed a new furnace. Even though he refused to actually look at the furnace and diagnose it, he still charged me the $109 callout fee. I had told their office when I called to make the appointment that the furnace was old. They could've told me at that point that they do not work on old furnaces, but did not. Instead, they charged me over $100 for doing nothing. If your furnace is older, beware that they may do the same to you. Also, as an FYI, I called a different company who came out, took the front off, cleaned it up a bit, tested for CO, told me it was working just fine despite the age, and that the smell was just related to the pilot light and was no big deal.
