Have used Santa Fe HVAC for years. Did a great job on quickly replacing my AC when it went out about 3-4 years ago on the hottest day of the year. Current technician is high quality guy, Mike. This company is now owned by PRIVATE EQUITY and is everything bad you have ever heard about PE. Coldest day in December, Saturday night, heater goes out around 9PM. Called and the answering service didn't even know what company I had called. "Someone will call you back on Monday when they get into the office." HELLO!?!? my heater is out on the coldest day of the year. Is there is no emergency service available? "Oh yes, we have an emergency service option and they will call you when they get in on Monday." Monday 9am, got a call. VM. No urgency, no nothing. AVOID Santa Fe HVAC and any other company that is PE owned. I was on a service agreement and they would not refund the unused visit. My mother scheduled a appointment for a fall check up on a system she purchased 11 years ago from this company...has had 0 problems from system and techs for a very long time ...however the tech that came recently was not professionally dressed with shoes falling apart ....my mother was not comfortable giving this employee her debit card BASED on not professionally dressed .. she chose her credit card .... 2 HOURS LATER THE CARD INFO WAS ATTEMPTED USE AT A FAST FOOD LOCATION!!! ...WTF ...REALLY !!!!!!!!!!! read more

Update!!! My last visit Santa Fe signed me up for their protection plan that included servicing and tune up of ac units in spring before it gets really hot. I though "yeah right...just an excuse to say something is wrong with system", BUT I was SO wrong! John came and cleaned, tuned up and serviced both ac units and it cost me NOTHING!!! Not to mention John was super friendly, right on time, and super fast and efficient! Now I know my units are clean and in great working condition right before the heat of summer! And I didn't pay a dime! It was included in the protection plan!!! Thank you so much Santa Fe and thank you to my sister in law for referring me to this kind, reliable and trustworthy company. Very few and far between in this area. Great experience! And I am super picky! My sister in law recommended this company. After having to deal with quite a few shady ac/heat companies since moving to the KC area I was loosing hope. Our heat stopped working and within two hours of my call to them everything was fixed and our heat was working. It was going to be 5 degrees, so I am very happy. Really can't complain. Pricing was pretty fair. My husband likes to work on the heater himself, but he was getting off a plane from being out of town. He knew the part was only $20 and we paid a couple hundred bucks to get it fixed but you have to consider their expenses of gas, employee, time, parts and so forth. We have no problem with the company making some money off us. Overall much better than the other companies out there that we have dealt with. This review is for Josh at Santa Fe Air heating and cooling, and for the company. Josh was on time, he was courteous, knowledgeable and most of all he was honest. Josh clearly reflects the company's philosophy for professionality and for integrity. After my AC stopped working, we spent two grueling days in a hot and humid house. Before I found Santa Fe, I called another company that seem to have great reviews based on Google business ratings, I later found that they are rated 2.5 stars on Yelp (don't trust Google for real reviews). The first company sent a technician out, who had a faulty meter and could not complete a full diagnostic, but, he said he was pretty sure the compressor needed replacing ($3000). Being that he did not do a full diagnostic, I turned the offer down. That night, after reading more reviews on local companies, I decided to schedule an appointment with Santa Fe Air heating and cooling, this was easily done on their web site. I did not have to wait long, at 0715 the next morning, Santa Fe called me to set up an appointment. In less than an hour one of their technician was at my house. Josh had me turn the AC unit on, and found that the unit was running properly, blowing plenty of cold air. The unit had been shut off since the previous company's visit, who had suggested to keep the unit turned off until the repair was completed. Josh asked me if the filter had been changed recently, as a dirty filter can cause the unit to lock, and that this had been mostly likely the problem. As a matter of fact, I had changed the filter the night before, after I realized that the filter was very dirty. The other company did not mention the filter as a possible cause, and rather had me incur an expensive repair. It has been 3 days since then and my AC is running great. I will be purchasing one of their maintenance plan for piece of mind. I can't say enough good things about my experience with Santa Fe Air heating and cooling. I am impressed with their integrity and values that are now days very hard to find. I will be calling them for all my HVAC needs. read more

Santa Fe has proven to be an honest and reliable company. It has been one month since we had our HVAC system installed and they definitely have treated us as valued customers. Mike C sold us the unit and at no time did he even hint as to trying to make a sale immediately. He explained thoroughly the different units (pros and cons) after asking us pertinent questions relating to our home and requirements. A follow-up call ( i believe from the owner) was made after the unit was installed to ensure the work was done properly and the installers cleaned up everything. While technically I'm posting a review for Marco, I'm also leaving my opinion of Santa Fe Air Conditioning & Heating as a whole. Marco - professional, courteous, and skilled. I have nothing, but great things to say about Marco as the point man on installation of our new AC unit. The crew arrived on schedule, performed the job to a satisfactory standard and was out of our house within 3-3.5 hours. We really didn't have to worry about anything. All our questions were answered before we had to ask them and we were left with a fully functioning new AC unit. We decided to go with a basic American Standard AC unit (SEER 13). The price wasn't the cheapest, but the combination of a quality brand and proficient crew set our minds at ease when it came to spending a little bit more than some of the other quotes. I'd go as far as saying the other quotes were not comparable. Brands like Amana, Lennox, etc are inferior products. Similarly the cheaper companies have less experienced crews. If I had to go through this process of replacing my AC again, I'd pick Santa Fe nine times out of ten. read more

Quick! Great Customer Service! Thorough installation! Our air conditioner has been giving us problems for a couple weeks, it was just yesterday we called Santa Fe air to come out and look at it. Sadly our air conditioner was dying. Today I sit here and write this review @6pm we have a brand new one installed. The house feels great! The guys, mike and nick, were wonderful. They were knowledgeable, hard working, and very efficient! We appreciate all the help and kindness. Replacing such a big appliance can be a hassle but luckily we fell into the write hands! Technician diagnosed the problem as a poor gas valve, but that we wouldn't know that was the problem until the work was performed. Called the office to discuss the price and was immediately demeaned by the owner for questioning their costs specifically that the proposed solution didn't fix the problem. Was told to "check around" and grateful I did! Second company came out and laughed that the gas valve was the problem as the burners were still fully operational. There was simply a faulty safety switch that wasn't engaging...I am giving one star rather than zero because of the advice to check around saved me $460 in unnecessary labor and parts. Followed up with the company to inform them of both the wrong diagnosis as well as request payment back for the original service (this was originally proposed by the owner on the first conversation). They obliged and sent back payment as well inappropriate letter accusing me of trying to get the technician to do the work on the side...why would I want someone to do the work on the side if they can't diagnose it correctly? read more

Hostile and unprofessional. A/C out with 100' heat -- tenants had to stay in hotel (at my expense). Had appointment set up with Kylie for today (Saturday). Get message from Kylie that she had talked to tenants and "everything was working okay" so she cancelled the appointment -- without talking to me. On a Friday, just before closing. In hot July. With no option to find someone else till next week. Owner Christy answers the phone, right off the bat I get attitude. "We're closed." As in, how dare I think anyone would lift a finger one minute after closing. Says she has no appointment for me. I start to explain when she interrupts me huffily with, "You know, I'm not interested in your business. This is too complicated." A routine misunderstanding (by YOUR employee) is too complicated? Good luck with that attitude. Seems likely that Christy is a self-important business owner who likely has very little involvement in the day-to-day operation. That's the only explanation for their 5-star ratings. There's simply no way a cranky old coot like that could be successful running it day to day. I told her if she left me hanging there would be consequences, including a truthful account on Yelp. As you might expect, she didn't care at all. "Go ahead," she barked proudly. Update 1/13/2016: John was our tech the first two times (my furance continued to act as he was not able to find the root problem the first two times) but we got Dan the last time. Dan was by far one of the best tech I've worked with! He has twenty years of experience and really took his time to make sure that my furnance is working (and won't break down anymore). Very professional and also pointed out something that was not up to code regarding my water heater just to give me a heads up. Santa Fe was so great with their customer service as they made sure that when they finally undercovered the real issue, that I was not charged for it (as I had paid previously for another fix). I am extremely happy with their service and will definitely use them again. I would also recommend Dan as well for anyone who wants an honest, professional senior tech! _____________________- John H was my tech and he was very thorough and professional. Only one star because I can't select no stars.... Had new furnace and AC units installed in late 2015. Just spent $950 to have the AC coil replaced due to multiple leaks in the 3 year old unit. The part was under warranty, but the $950 was just labor. Should make an interesting read in a future issue of Consumer Reports. I would avoid any heating or AC equipment manufactured by York. read more

I was also demeaned by customer service. I don't know if she is the owner. We bought an air conditioner and heater last summer. The heater is great but the air conditioner is way less efficient than the old one before it died. In order to even begin to cool the upstairs, we have to keep the first floor so cold that we wear sweatshirts. It kept tripping the breaker and wouldn't keep up. I was told it was because it is humid outside. The technician came out and said we needed a larger breaker. He had to ask his boss before installing. Another tech came out and said we needed a smaller breaker. He said we weren't wired for larger breaker. This sounds to me like we were sold an air conditioner that is too large for our house. read more

Really glad I called Santa Fe Air! Customer service was friendly, helpful, and responsive when I made a next-day appointment. Mark came out to see why our furnace was cycling faster than normal and letting the air drop a few degrees below thermostat temperature. He was professional and courteous, and even walked me through his inspection process so I understood what he was doing. He found the problem quickly, explained why it was causing those symptoms, and fixed it in no time. He offered the service agreement without pushing it, and (unlike other companies) gave an honest assessment of the state of my HVAC system - how many years left, what to look out for, how to maintain it well - rather than telling me it was about to fall apart and I needed to replace the whole thing ASAP. Pricing was reasonable, I would definitely call Santa Fe Air again. read more

Our 16 yo water heater was only giving out warm water, so time to replace before it provided only cold. Santa Fe is our go to for heat/ac, so we called them. We got the same courteous service from placing the order, to scheduling the call, to putting in the new unit and hauling away the old. We will continue to use them in the future read more

We have signed up for Santa Fe's Protection Plan for the past few years. We like the way they are proactive about the heating/AC SYSTEM. We just bought an American Standard heating/AC to replace our 20 year old system before it would possibly go out in the winter. They came and installed it, no problems and were on their way. A friend at work recommended SFHA and I also saw that they have an excellent rating in Yelp, so I called them when our A/C became inactive overnight. I called at 8:30 and they were at my house at 10:30-11:00 the same day. You cannot beat that! The repair was priced fair and they didn't sell us anything we did not need. Woke up with no heat in our house and immediately started to look for HVAC companies that provide service to the Johnson and Miami county areas. I came across Santa Fe Air Conditioning and Heating and took the time to read all of the reviews and was impressed with what I read. I called hoping to get a tech out the same day and I had a tech at my house within an hour of my phone call. The tech immediately identified what the problem was, documented the work that needed to be done and said that it may have to be scheduled out within the next few days. I was pleased when they came back and said the other tech could be at my house by 2:00 (same day) to complete the work. Both techs were very knowledgeable, professional, and friendly, and completely exceeded my expectations. I'm planning on purchasing my annual maintenance plans through them now and highly recommend this company for HVAC service. read more

Mark was absolutely the best. Kind, thoughtful and figured out the issue. If you choose SF, ask for Mark. I called the owner to discuss my concern with what I felt was excessive pricing and she suggested I speak to the parts manager, as she "couldn't possibly know everything" about pricing. But don't you own this business? Where's the accountability? Exceptional service by Mark, but parts seem terribly overpriced. (New generic starter board = $110 on all Google stores; $660 installed @ @225/hour for 1.25 hours means they charged $375 for this part - 3.5x the retail cost). Also a member of the annual service plan, which we will reconsider when it terminates. read more

One of the most arrogant, inconsiderate companies I have dealt with. I have been in my home for fifteen years and have used them for yearly check ups and a couple of repairs. Friday was the second time that their tech, John, failed to make it within the two hour window for his appointment. Appointment was 2-4, he called at 5 to say he was late. He seemed indifferent about it, same as Sara in their office. They are fired! There are lots of good HVAC companies in town. read more

My A-coil recently froze up, so I called to have it checked out. Mike showed up about 5 hours later and diagnosed it as low on freon. It was a recent install, so I got it serviced quickly with no charge. Excellent, speedy and courteous service. Highly recommended! read more
