When your held hostage at the airport, Margaritaville is one of your food/drink options. Prepare to be overcharged and under serviced. Ordered an orange soda with my meal and I'm handed a can. Had to flag the server back to ask for a glass, ice and straw . (I thought I was ordering a drink at a sit down restaurant ugh). I wanted the ceviche that everyone raves about, however like every place here there is the hard TIP culture. I'm paying for the meal and tipping my server, yet I'm expected to tip this person separately. Many of us have exhausted our pesos before hitting this stage of the airport. It is on the sidewalk between the airport exit and ground transportation. On the downside, each margarita was approximately 50 U.S. dollars. I like this place but my wife makes me stop here every time we are departing the Cancún airport. They do a great table side guacamole and pico de gallo. Chicken fajitas are good as are the margaritas. Service is friendly and atmosphere is on brand for a Jimmy Buffet themed restaurant. November 28th, 2022, I came for a drink before my flight as a solo female traveler, having spent two beautiful months in Mexico problem free, till that drink at the Cancun airports Margaritaville. The waiter drugged my drink, I was so messed up from being drugged by the bartender, a Hispanic man, about 5'8, mid to late twenties, with a complete neck tattoo of the year "1996" or "1994", or "1998" it's hard to remover the exact number, but I remember everything you did to me. I remember the lady already magically waiting outside the plane with my checked bag, she lead me to the taxis outside, but to the very far right where all the lights where off and that same man with the neck tattoo was there waiting for me. They got in a taxi telling me they'd take me to a hotel for the night and I was paying for the taxi/hotel ride to and back to the airport the next day, but instead they took my card from me and racked up charges. Then that tattoo man and a man named Charlie took me to the Cancun plaza hotel where I was locked in a room with the tattooed man who said "ahora vas a hacer un bl0wj0b!" And I fought you like it was life or death, cause for me it was. I remember your face, I remember the feeling of your hands on my body as I struggled to get away from you. I got out of that room, but how many others didn't? How many more after me? Nothing happened to you, you ran away like a coward after I slipped your grip and just so happened to be faster than you to get out that door, despite your drugs making everything feel heavy and slow, I made it out. You didn't get what you wanted. You couldn't even stand up to me outside that room, cause you are nothing but a coward and I WON! I hope you see this review, cause I know you'll remember exactly who I am and how I fought you for my life. I made a report to the police and to the airport police, nothing happened. Food: scrambled eggs, not natural terrible taste; tots, just tots, pancakes, from a frozen box / bag. Asked for a frozen Margarita; mistake the first time. I didn't send it back, just said , taste not good please bring me water. They asked, this is not what you ordered, right? They changed the drink for what I ordered, was equally bad. This restaurant in the Cancun airport exceeded my expectations! They prepared the Shrimp Ceviche and guacamole fresh table side. Both were gluten free and tasted exceptional! I was afraid the shrimp ceviche would be more of a snack, but it was so hearty that I couldn't finish it all. I feel like airport locations can be hit or miss depending on when you visit. We had about an hour to kill and came here. There were 6 of us and we all got fries/chicken tenders to share. They were perfectly fine but also the best part Seating: There's tons of seating all the way around. Unfortunately though they crammed as many tables into the space as they could. Everything is very crammed and even the staff has a hard time squeezing through, especially since everyone has luggage floating around their table. I decided to extend my vacation vibes by having a margarita for breakfast at the airport and I do not regret it one bit! Margaritaville is one of the signature restaurants at the Cancun airport with lots of premium seating and a prime location that is near all the gates. We had an hour or two to spare, so my husband and I holed up with our drinks, and when a few friends with delayed trips decided to stop by, our servers happily allowed us to extend our table. Our margaritas were on point (way better than any watered down drink you get at an all-inclusive) and took away any pre-flight anxiety I may have had. We also grabbed some chicken quesadillas, wings, and fries to tide us over for our flight and while nothing special, it wasn't bad either (akin to a TGI Fridays). Service was great. Food was a little pricey, but what isn't these days? Cheers to Jimmy Buffet and his legacy! I'll gladly support a spot where it's happy hour, any time of day. read more

Yay! I love when I can update a review with extra stars because this place definitely has improved since my last visit 8 years ago. My main issue with my previous review was the length of time for my food to arrive (about 50 minutes), which was not the case during my most recent visit. Foodwise, we went with a huge plate of nachos, and I had the restaurant's version of a Long Island Iced Tea (I think it was called Incommunicado). Our server Ruben was great, and the service was pretty fast for a busy day. Since the restaurant is inside an airport, you can expect extravagant prices, but that just goes with the territory. They quoted us a wait time of 20 minutes. I think it only took 20 minutes but I was not in a rush. O order the spanish omelet and it was great. The pineapple juice was also good. Keep walking!!!! We just got scammed leaving Mexico. Paid $80 for a terrible fish sandwich and two teas. The waiter asked if we wanted refills only to discover after paying our check that he had charged us $25 that included souvenir jars that weren't even given to us. Avoid eating here at all costs!!! As another reviewer mentioned, be careful of surprise up charges on drinks. We ordered two regular margaritas and the bill showed they both had cazadores blanco tequila. Our drinks absolutely had a gold tequila, as we ordered -- although we may have actually enjoyed them had we ordered or received the blanco. We pointed this out and tried to have it corrected TWICE and the server blew us off and tried telling us what was on the bill was their house tequila - although the price was significantly higher.
