I had a wonderful experience working with Oscar. These five stars capture it overall but if there were sub-ratings for communication, courtesy, expertise, professionalism, honesty, and workmanship, I'd rate those at five stars as well (and higher if I could). We found Airmatix here on Yelp when we were having issues with our A/C in May 2021. Out of the few companies that came out at that time, Oscar was the only one who took the time to have a conversation about what all of our options were, including what a ducted mini split could look like given the increased energy savings. Ultimately, Oscar was able to diagnose and successfully repair/refill a leaking coolant hose in our current system. We're still enjoying the cool air as recent as the 90 degree weather this March 2022. Following this, we decided to move forward with a ductless mini split unit for our garage in July 2021. On the day of install, Oscar and his team were not only clean and efficient, but I was given a heads up to little things that popped up throughout the day that weren't previously discussed in the scope of work (not to any lack of foresight; my home presents interesting challenges in any upgrades/repairs that we do). Airmatix I am so very, very impressed by the Airmatix people. I have done construction and have some insight to good and poor. After several bids to replace my HVAC, Oscar's Airmatix bid was most reasonable, (also I confirmed everything in the various bids with my son, an out-of-market Journeyman HVAC Technician). In the bid process, Oscar presented me with options. Among the options, I wanted the AC Coil/Compressor moved from my patio. I also desired a 2 zone system. It took 3 days. They laid down coverings over my carpeted steps (HVAC in attic). They removed old HVAC and installed new HVAC without any damage to house or property. They were flexible, and after discussion, they ran lines outside my house that were visually appealing. The Airmatix professionals also installed and sealed all the new vent grills. When they were done the Pro's even vacuumed afterward; they left my house better than they found it. I could easily go into greater detail because I was not expecting the excellence I received. If only every company would be like Airmatix. Haha, yes, after spending thousands on an HVAC system you want to feel like I do. I highly, highly recommend Airmatix. Having some problems with our rooftop HVAC unit no longer heating up our home properly, Oscar was highly recommended by the original guy who did our installation 10+ years ago (who'd since moved out of state). I was then even more confident in the referral, once I saw all of the 5-star reviews about him & his company from many satisfied customers on Yelp!! So with all of my high expectations that we're already set, he not only took care of our problem but actually delivered an exceptional service experience at the same time!! When I'd 1st contacted him to explain the problem, he took the time to ask me several questions, told me of the possible issues our HVAC may be having & then scheduled the appointment. When he arrived, I was pleased to see that for Covid, he was masked up, had gloves on, wore foot coverings whenever he had to come inside our home & cleaned up after himself with a hand broom & dust pan. Oscar was also very professional in explaining all that he was doing & answered all of my questions. Ultimately, he determined that a circuit board & relay were faulty & once he got the price on the OEM parts, had given me a great quote (based on extensive research I did online) in which he'd also included installing a new Smart Thermostat (that I'd already previously purchased but hadn't gotten around to installing myself) & Service (inspection, cleaning of sensors/components etc), all at no additional cost!! Oscar runs a top shop and his crew is well trained and professional. I've worked with other contractors, but when you are working on your own house, you want the best at a fair price. Oscar arrived at the right appt time, did a CLEAN install (I'll get to this later) and finished when he promised. The difference that stays with you and your home is the cleanliness of the install. It is VERY easy to do a messy or quick install where the conduit is out or showing. It saves time on the install. Oscar sensed that aesthetics in the install were important to me. He spent the extra time to run the conduit for the electrical through the ceiling where it wouldn't be seen vs running it under the eaves. I contacted Airmatix to troubleshoot my upstairs HVAC unit which had power but just stopped working for no apparent reason. Oscar put me on his schedule to come the next day. He gave me a 2 hour window and even texted me when he was on the way. When he arrived he quickly determined my AC stopped working because of the unit drain system had triggered an automatic shutdown of the system when the drain stopped working properly. Look no further, you have found the best AC crew in town! Oscar is probably one of the best contractors I have worked with from communication, thoroughness in quoting, patience in explaining what needs to be done, response time, ease of working with etc. tl/dr: This is someone who truly stands behind his work and wants you to be happy with the end result. He isnt a fly in fly out kind of contractor, as most are. He spends the time to do things right. Overall he helped create a new ducting system that truly balanced the air temperature throughout our entire house, all rooms and both stories. Oscar is genuine and trustworthy. You won't have any regrets in hiring him. Our AC system was a mess: old ducts, leaking vents, poorly designed layout, tight working quarters, disconnected pieces, undersized connections, not installed to code, freezing coils causing a full secondary drip pan, no air getting to the second story, uneven temperatures and airflow from room to room, etc. I was referred to Oscar and he promptly responded and we scheduled time to meet the following week. He let me know when he was leaving to come out and arrived right on time for our appointment. Our system is installed in our attic and he didnt hesitate to jump in there and see what was going on (other contractors just poked their head in). He spent the time to thoroughly understand how the system was (poorly) configured, listen to the issues I had, walk around the house with me to see each room and vent, etc. He sent a very detailed quote that was very competitive to what others were sending. His crew arrived at the time promised and the first thing they did was lay down tarps and rags to prevent tracking in any dirt on the carpet--big plus in my book! They removed the old system and the parts that we incorrectly installed on our system. They removed all of the old ducting, removed the undersized riser to the second story, installed a second return line, removed an old vent and replaced with a bigger grill and cut an attic access into the second story. They were very efficient and even vacuumed/cleaned after they left. Oscar designed a new layout and system configuration that would take full advantage of our system (or previous was at 30-40% efficiency). Day two they brought in all of the supplies and got started on the install. We had a duct that was disconnected and rather than just push the new duct onto the vent he went above and beyond to open up part of the wall to install it correctly and fasten it properly. We were going to install a wireless communication device for the fan outside to talk to the unit in the attic but after reading poor reviews online Oscar went the extra mile to fish a wire from the second story through the wall to get the unites wired together. He installed completely new piping from the drip pan as the previous wasnt designed correctly with enough drop so water wasnt draining. He spray painted the insides of each vent so you it would look better when looking up. He was on site and working with his crew for the entirety of both days to ensure everything was done correctly and they stayed on time to finish. read more
