The communication and professionalism have been extremely disappointing. We own a business, and our AC has been leaking. They came out to inspect the issue, we paid the required 50% deposit, and scheduled the repair for the following Friday since we don't have clients that day. We were specifically told it would be a 4-5 hour job, so we scheduled the appointment for 9:00 AM to ensure the work would be completed before we closed at 3:00 PM. The day before the appointment, we received a confirmation text showing an 11:00 AM arrival instead of the 9:00 AMappointment we had scheduled. At no point did anyone contact us to ask if this change worked for us or even notify us that our appointment had been rescheduled. They simply changed the time and sent a confirmation text. Once we realized the change, we called the company and explained that we had specifically scheduled 9:00 AM because we were told the repair would take 4-5 hours. We were assured the technician would arrive at 11:00 AM and complete the work. By 12:00PM, the technician still hadn't arrived. Despite explaining multiple times that we are a business with a limited schedule and that we close at 3:00 PM, we were simply told our appointment window was 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. They also claimed the repair wasn't actually a five-hour job--which only raised another question: if that's true, why were we originally told to expect a 4-5 hour repair? Changing a customer's appointment time without confirming it first, arriving well outside the promised time, and showing little regard for a business customer's schedule is simply unprofessional. Poor communication, missed expectations, and no regard for a customer's schedule--especially for a business that planned around their availability.

I came across an offer from an affiliate of Home Depot for an AC tune-up for $8.88. Thought it was…read morea great bargain, and I'm sure many of you would too. So I'm going to give you a forewarning, it's a classic bait-and-switch (i.e get your foot in the door and then upsell). I was recommended a hard-start kit (aka compressor saver) and an air purification system. The cost? $1,800+. I told the tech that that's a bit steep for me, so he said, how much could you afford? I said maybe closer to $1,500. The tech called his manager and inform me that they would do it for that price. Initially, I was happy to receive a 20% discount. That is of course, until I googled the PlasmaPure 600 Series and the hard-start kit they sold me after the technician left, and discovered I paid $1,200+ for 2 hours of labor. This was back in June 2025. Give or take 10 months later, my air conditioner stopped working. Normally, I don't turn the AC on during the winter season, but as luck would have it, Los Angeles is having record breaking heat. I haven't used the AC for several months, and I only had a tuneup a few months before that. So I called the same company to determine why my AC wasn't working (hoping that they would stand behind their work). Upon opening the equipment, the hard-start kit they installed in June had exploded. The cause, according to their tech, was that my AC compressor was grounded. The good news? Because my Lennox unit was less than 10 years old, it's still under warranty. The cost to install and repair it? Over $5,000...yikes! :-z But the $88 you paid us today to inspect the unit will go towards the cost of the installation. That's how they get you by the way, by offering you a lower inspection charge. Since this company pulled a fast one on me last time, I decided to get a second opinion. I called Around the Clock considering it was them who initially installed my Lennox unit. They sent Oleg Stopsky out the very same day (I should mention that the other company took over a week to schedule a tech to come out). He confirmed that the compressor is in fact grounded. But because I'm a repeat customer, the cost of labor would be less than 1/3rd of what this other company quoted me. Additionally, the $125 I paid to have them come out to inspect, would be discounted from my total cost. I wanted to get a 3rd opinion just to make sure. I hate to say it, but when you're a solo female, you can easily get duped. When it comes to mechanical stuff, most technicians just assume you don't know any better...and in my case, it's somewhat true. That's why finding an honest company is so important. I contacted a company that was affiliated with Costco. They said they would give me a complimentary inspection. They too said that the unit was under warranty but their quote to repair was more than double of what Around the Clock offered me. I was glad that Around the Clock was the lowest because they were the most expedient and pleasant to work with. So as soon as Lennox sent Around the Clock the compressor, the contactor, and the capacitor, they scheduled Oleg to come out the very next day. I felt really bad because my AC is located on the roof of my building and we had record breaking heat today. But despite the unbearable heat, he remained jovial throughout. He did a superb job and was kind enough to install a permanent dryer filter when he learned that I had weak lungs. And just to show how honest they are, I asked Oleg if I should install a hard-start kit as recommended by the last technician, (because the previous one they installed in June exploded), he told me no. That since we replaced both the capacitor and the contactor (which were also under warranty), it's no longer necessary. This is probably why he's been with this company for over 25 years...because he's honest. I also like that I'm supporting a Ukrainian business. No more paying technicians from multiple companies to come out and inspect in the future. My HVAC company of choice is now Around the Clock. I'm so relieved to have air conditioning again...hallelujah!!

We were new homeowners and had only moved in for less than a month when our AC unit went out. It…read morewas an ancient unit that certainly needed replacement, but when we called The Right Choice, they arrived with the pushiest, sleaziest salesman you could imagine. He immediately insisted (more like demanded) that we needed new ducts as well as a new system. When I told him that we wanted a unit with a higher SEER rating for energy efficiency and lower electric bills, he dismissed my suggestion as if I was stupid for even asking about it. My guess is that they have some sort of deal with Goodman, because that is the brand that they forced on us. What was the grand total you ask? Over $20,000. And that was 8 years ago! Not only did they NOT replace all of the ducts (like they said they would) their installation was the most Mickey Mouse-looking trash I have ever seen. They must have put at least 5 pounds of mastic tape around the unit to try and seal it up and it still leaked cold air after a week of use. These are scam artists masquerading as professionals. Even after that ordeal was over, they would call us constantly, year after year, telling us we needed to pay for a tech to come out and service our system. Besides hosing off our compressor unit with our own garden hose, the only thing their tech ever did was aggressively try to sell us on more services. They never once opened up the unit to clean the coils. They never once topped off the coolant. They never even cleaned out the condensate pipe. 8 years later and I am paying the price with outrageous cooling bills, a leaky unit that is more mastic than air conditioner, and a clogged condensate line that I had to clean out myself (it took about 5 minutes once I had the right tool). Do not let these people into your home. There is a reason that you see so many one-star reviews among the four and five-star ones. Do not disregard those reviews (they are real people). This company will take advantage of anybody who is not particularly knowledgeable about HVAC. They are pushy and rude; they will try to sell you products and services that you do not need. They will continue to harass you with phone calls for years afterwards. Stay away. Stay far, far away.

He is very committed to his values and what his experience tells him and I respect his opinion deeply. We ended up selecting another proposal. Avi is the most direct and honest contractor, we had him do a complete update on our old home air conditioning system a few years ago, not only were we thrilled with the results the cost was thousands less than other competing estimates! Recently, our Nest thermostat had an error message, not knowing myself what to do , I called Avi on his personal cell and described the Nest message, he personally came to our house in hours of my call and completely took care of the problem --how is that for customer support!! Another important point I would like to emphasize Avi never has tried to up-sell me on systems more expensive, he has always directed me at more cost effective selections which I am much appreciative of. Our A/C went out on the hottest day of the year. This was the day it hit 122 degrees in Woodland Hills. I expected that I wouldn't be able to get a hold of anyone. I found AOL on Yelp! They had good ratings and reviews, so I gave it a shot. Needless to say, it worked out. I got lucky! Nino and Henry showed up, masks on, ready to help. They worked quickly to resolve the problem. We have a dog rescue and our A/C went out on one of the hottest days last summer, on a saturday, late in the day. Called AOL, and Avi was able to come out late, gave a fair estimate and the next day...on a Sunday no less...came out with his team and installed a new 4ton A/C and Heating unit fast and efficiently. We always wait a year to give reviews, just in case there are issues, etc. and the installed unit is running like a champ - still as quiet as can be and at a price that was very competitive. AOL (Avi) showed up for us on a May day of record-breaking heat. This is a major consideration when your A/C or heater goes out. Avi always is there and he's easy to work with and quite brilliant at diagnoses. We had been thinking of switching our gas system to electric, so when we learned the repair would be significant, we chose to switch to the electric system. Avi and his team are amazing. Very professional, friendly, reliable, efficient. I've used them twice at my home in Encino. They quickly responded to a broken thermostat following a power outage, replaced & installed the new one very quickly. Then during July 4 holiday weekend, they came and fixed my AC unit that wasn't cooling. They identified the issue immediately and relaxed the compressor. I called AOL for service for my business server room in Oxnard. Even though it's far, a technician texted me a scheduled appointment within 24 hours...prompt right from the start! While performing a diagnostic test, the technician explained thoroughly what was causing the malfunction and proceeded to give me options which allowed me to not exceed my budget. My first experience with AOL was a couple of years ago. I had called numerous places on a memorial weekend. I had to deal with tenants complaining of no air out in Newhall. Avi told me he would send someone out the following day. I was amazed how fast and clean the job went. I just had them do my a/c here in Pasadena. I have to give special thanks to Jose. YOU NEVER WANT YOUR AC TO GO DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF A SUMMER IN THE SAN FERNANDO VALLEY! After a restless hot night when our AC went out, AOL Heating & Air sent Nino to the rescue! When I got the tracking I was able to schedule the plumber to come back the next morning after it arrived. Now I have it all fixed. He also stayed a little longer to answer some questions I had before he had to get to his next appointment. While I always say I hope to never need a plumber again, I'm just glad to have one on my area that I feel I can rely on.
