During this heat wave a tenant's AC unit wasn't cooling down their apartment. I contacted Mike's air who I've used before and their representative who answered the phone told me that they have been really busy but that she'd look at the schedule and call me back. She called back within 30 mins. and told me she found a serviceman, Ryan, who could come out tomorrow. I was thankful as it was around 5pm when I called. The next day Ryan checked the AC unit and vents and diagnosed the problem. He also gave helpful advice to the tenant and myself on the use of the AC. Unfortunately, he needed to order parts which would take 2-3 days to arrive. Ryan returned with the new parts and swapped them out. While working on the AC unit he showed me that there was heavy accumulation of dust on the evaporator coils and advised having the coils cleaned. Alex showed up on time and was very professional. He found the ignitor to be the problem and quoted us for the cost - which was about what was expected. However, We also needed a new thermostat, and they wanted $350 for it - which I thought was a lot - considering high tech smart thermostats go for a lot less. But then again, he had to rewire the low voltage regulator to it so the labor involved probably was included in that line item. Unbelievable experience today with Andrew... My A/C unit was inspected by the Synergy Companies in order to qualify for the So. Cal Gas tankless water heater program... Upon inspection, the technician informed me that my A/C wasn't working and suggested that I have an HVAC company diagnosis and repair the unit... It turns out it was a simple issue of just tripping the circuit breaker... Andrew did that and also secured the capacitor inside the unit... I was quoted $85 for the service call and diagnosis and when he was finished, I was about to pay and he told me the service was complimentary... This just does not happen... I spoke to Mikes air and requested a quote to replace my AC package unit , they sent Andre to give me an estimate he came on time and was very pleasant .we agreed that he will send me an estimate for the Rheem brand and another estimate for Carrier/bryant brand . I got the estimate the next day but it doesn't say the brand on it I sent Andre a message saying it does not specify the brand in the estimate as we agreed since prices will vary between. Rheem and Carrier .he assured me that the brand is there . I rechecked again and read every line in the estimate and nothing there told him this and he said he will send me another estimate that will mention the name and he never did , that was a red flag for me that this business is kind shady I would not trust them with a big project like this . read more

Thanks to all the amazing Yelp reviews-I called Mike's air last month because my A/C had a musty smell for quite some time .... They really do live up to the reviews! If I could give them 10 stars I would! Danny was incredibly patient! He had to come back to my place several times because my contractor didn't leave a large enough access space to get to the A/C unit/blower when they re-did my bathroom ceiling last year and had to cut it open again-twice! When he was finally able to access my ancient unit and clean the coils and the blower- he found an extremely dirty system!!! He was amazing- he spent a long time cleaning it....and when he was done it was fresh as the spring air!! No more musty smell! Not only was Danny a great technician- he was a very kind and interesting person and he answered all my text message questions right away!!!. I really enjoyed chatting with him...and wish him the best of luck with his first baby! The price was more than reasonable- and I couldn't be happier. I rarely write a review, however, I read a lot of them. And through the reviews it seemed like Mike's air is a solid company. And that actually might be true in regards to their expertise. However, from my personal experience, I wanted to share what others didn't talk about: Their lack of solutions. I had one of their technicians come out to look at a heater in the basement that socal gas flagged was leaking gas. It was for a 1 bedroom unit that only has central heat (no air conditioning). The technician mentioned it could be repaired, yet could not guarantee the length of it working after the repair. It was mentioned to better just buy a new one. One that was $6,000 with installation. I asked if there were less expensive machinces out there and he said no. I asked to show me the options in tghe invoice that he said they'd send. I got their invoice the next day for the suggested $6,000 machine replacement, without even the option for repairing it. I wrote them back asking if there are more reasonable options. And days later (Even as I write this), I have still not received a response. So I called another place to get a 2nd opinion. Mind you, I also called around to find, that there are less expensive replacement alternative basement heaters. So mike's air lied to me or showed me that they either don't care to be reasonable in regards to cost or don't know and aren't that knowledgeable. Either way, not good. End of story, the 2nd opinion company was able to fix the problem. And realized it was just a maintenance issue and it was able to be resolved without needing a replacement or even a 2nd visit.
