Wheat & Rye bar & restaurant

I like this place. Yep it's a dive, and a good one. Pool table, arcade games, pull tabs,. Sticking bathroom door that requires an extra oomph , outside seating, big bar, low lights. A great spot for corned beef or other sandwich/burger and a drink before boarding a plane or while waiting to pick someone up from airport. If I lived close it would be a good neighborhood hangout

Visiting from out of town with a group, we all left happy. It's very loud. Like so, incredibly loud. If you want an in depth conversation, I would not recommend. Food was excellent and very plentiful. Everyone had leftovers. It came fast and steaming hot. It was an incredible value. The service was a tad slow despite the restaurant being slow, but not too bad. I'd recommend anyone driving through town to check this place out for a quality, hot, meal.

    Wings! So good!

Believe every good review you see for this place! Is it a dive bar? Yes. Is the floor sticky? Yes? Does the food and drink cost 25% of what you're about to pay at DTW? Also yes. Service is great. Sandwich and wings were amazing. Beer is cold, plenty of TV's to watch sports. We've stayed near the airport many times before early flights out and only now found this place and it will be our new go to!

I don't know why this place has 3 stars but hopefully we can fix that! We came in sat at the bar, 2 of us first. We were nicely greeted by the bartender who was super nice. We came on a Friday the special was fish & chips it was HUGE! I'm not a coleslaw person but this was fresh not mushy so I actually enjoyed it. The fish I had 3 giant pieces of cod, coleslaw, fries and a roll. I'm also not usually a French fry lover because I only like them hot & fresh which these were. The sauce that came with tarter which I didn't try and a delicious red hot sauce. The rest of my co workers arrived and ordered pulled pork sliders, jalapeño poppers, chicken cheesesteak and black bean burger. The portions are huge so go hungry or share! When you walk in it looks like a dive bar with pinball & some games. There are plenty of tables near a big huge TV for watching sports.

Ok, so when we pulled up we looked around because we thought it was going to be a fast food joint. There were a lot of factors that had us looking sideways but it was almost midnight and we were starving so we decided to go for it. This place did not disappoint! It was a great vibe and a totally mixed crowd. The music was bumping 2000s hip hop and the waitresses were similar to urban style Hooters restaurant girls. The food was massive and it tasted great! I had a burger and fries and the hubby had the pastrami and corned beef sandwich and that was . The price was very reasonable and the service was great! The ONLY thing that annoyed me was that I had to pay too much for a little bottled water with my meal even with ordering food and drinks. If we are back in the area we will likely try it again.

Low key, low lit, fast, and friendly service. Lots of TVs. Smoking on the enclosed patio. Good menu, not over the top pricing, food made to order as you like it. Reasonable beer list. Good place to stop for a bite.

Huge corn beef sandwich. The bartender was extremely busy but still excellent service. My new place when I fly out if DTW.

Pre-vacation dinner. We've eaten here for years. Waited an hour and a half and the wrong food came out. Won't be back. No apologies!

Rude server and when I ordered a hamburger the bun had mold on it. Never going to this location again.

Bartender was rude, slow and appeared drunk. Went to watch a football game and they turned up the rap music so loud I just left.

We ordered the mini breakfast with one egg, two slices of bacon and hash browns $4.95. We also got the corned beef hash with two eggs, toast & jelly $8.50. For the side orders we got a bowl of grits $3.50 and three piece pancakes $6.95. We washed it down with a coffee $3.50 and orange juice $3.95. Everything was good. Honestly, it's kind of hard to mess up breakfast items. The pancakes were huge and fluffy. It was my third time having grits and it's still meh to me. It's kind of like oatmeal, but more grainy. My hubby added butter and sugar to it. They also sell sandwiches, burgers, salads and a whole bunch of dinner entrees.

It was no hello, hi, how are you... just takeout or dining in and when I mentioned dining in, she wasn't too thrilled. So we chose our booth and sat down. The waitress attitude at the beginning was not welcoming at all. To the point where my nephew that is 6yrs old asked, whats wrong with her. We placed our order and when the food arrived, all of us where excited. The food looked and tasted great. Hats off to the chef. We had a table full of pancakes, French toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, and drinks. By time we were ready to go, the waitress seemed in a better mood. Maybe she was having a rough start to her day. I commented on her earrings to make her smile. Although the experience wasn't the best initially, we all have "off" days and i wont hold it against them. The food is delicious and I will be back.

I rolled the dice and gave it a try. Best move ever. Great food quality and professional service. Fair prices too. Soprano-like vibe on the inside, dark lighting, big booths and tables, bad art, Sinatra music, Italian hairdos, the whole badda-boom badda-bing thing. Super clean bathrooms too. OMG the food! Delicious bread and butter, olive oil on the table, fresh salads (best blue cheese dressing ever), delicious Caprese salad full of balsamic-basil flavors, awesome mussels with garlic and oil sauce (sopped up with fresh bread), fresh made egg-cream sauce on the decadent spaghetti carbonara. Great hot coffee and a homemade cannoli for desert. Well made bar drinks too. I left completely satisfied. Perfect pit-stop for hungry travelers waiting for rush hour traffic to clear.
