Estimated 2 weeks job turned into 2+ months of hell. we had to terminate and redo everything , 70% of work was not to code. We had to hire out to new plumber and drywaller. pvc flex pipe had to be replaced wrong size used not to code, water regulator had to be reinstalled properly with gauge. All valves had to be redone , strapped and new drywall patches done. We had no running shower for a week no hot water to kitchen for over 2 weeks. There was so much more but you get the picture. I kind of laughed and thought, there's no way these companies could really be 1st choice, right? But in fact they are. Michael came out and assessed the plumbing work for a master bath remodel. He was on time for the estimate and gave me a quote soon after and explained upfront that if certain conditions existed when they demolished the existing drywall, additional costs might be incurred. After demo, we learned (as Michael warned us) that certain plumbing needed to be rerouted in our older home. The additional costs were reasonable and within the range of what Michael estimated. Michael handled both rough in and finish plumbing. He was patient and attentive to certain things we wanted done a particular way, e.g., the exact location of some of our fixtures. As all projects do, we ran into a glitch. At first I worried that it would be major. Once Michael diagnosed the error, he was prompt in taking steps to make it right. I think the sign of good contractor is not only how they perform when everything works perfectly, but how they perform when things don't. We also had an upstairs bathroom remodeled that had two sinks and a big cabinet replaced. But as I've gotten older, my tolerance for working on my back in dark areas where my weakening eyesight gets in the way has diminished considerably. All I needed was a garbage disposal installation. My thought as I called was, "This ain't gonna be very high on a plumber's daily worklist. I'll be lucky to have anyone even return my call." I got a call back within the hour and they got the information. The plumber called me shortly and we set up an appointment for the next day. The work was fast (why shouldn't it be?) and excellent, and the price was right (less than half what the big guys would charge). I am very happy with the outcome, and with the whole experience. Even though my need was a small one, I feel I got the attention any customer deserves. I will not hesitate to contact HOCOA first when I need work done in the future.
