Had to write this review for this business due to their exceptional work and service by Dr. Smith. She is the plastic surgeon here and is amazing., and Jake is the Director of Operations, he makes sure the staff takes great care of me every time I walk in. Leila, is the office manager, and she is super nice and always pleasant. She's incredibly helpful and answers any questions I have without hesitation. You can tell the team here genuinely cares. I first heard about this place a few months ago from a friend. I needed to get healthier and be more fit ASAP because I am massively overweight. On top of that, I was told I needed to lose 50 lbs before I could have my surgery. The previous doctor (before Dr Smith) was not very helpful. So I decided to visit this office, and I'm so happy I did. From day one, I was greeted by an amazing staff that was informative and pointed me in the right direction. Dr. Smith is a wonderful person. On my first visit, she came out just to introduce herself. She's clearly busy but still made time to connect, which meant a lot. Jake, under the direction of Dr. Smith's plan she tailored just for me, helped me with some light at-home exercises and a healthier diet. The practice went out of their way to work directly with me, gave me a simple routine to follow, and shared practical tips on what to eat throughout the day. That support has been everything. I started small, stayed consistent, and over the past few months, I've lost 35 lbs and counting. The workouts take just 20 minutes a day, easy movements that get your heart rate going and actually feel good. They didn't have to do all this, but they did, and it made a real difference in my life! Leila is the one I see the most at check in and check out, she's warm, professional, and always has a smile. She gets me in quickly and helps with anything I need to make sure my appointments run smooth as well. Dr. Smith is amazing: smart, funny, proactive, supportive! She has a unique, real-life approach from other surgeons I met - thinks about how her work impacts your everyday life. She did exactly what she said she could do, which is what every other surgeon told me couldn't be done and said I wouldn't like. I'm thrilled with her work and finally so so happy with my mastectomy reconstruction! First, how she's different and then context How Dr. Smith is different: Tons more "before" pictures of me and totally different positions than other surgeons. These are pictures she takes into surgery with her. If someone is going to rebuild your breasts, don't you want the surgeon who pays attention to how they'll hang when you're bending over and leaning in different positions?! She knows the body and how to creatively achieve the look you want. Best surgery prep: you bring your prescriptions to pre-op and they put special labels on each one saying exactly what it's for and when/how to take it. Everything is numbered, there's a whole folder with instructions, and lots of free samples for post-op. She advocates for her patients: writes letters and makes calls to other providers, doctors, insurance, disability, etc. She gives awesome advice for how to navigate insurance hoops and pushes for whole body healthcare because she knows her work and healing is tied to the whole body. Dr. Smith is a cheerleader, as is everyone in her office! They never once told me what I should want or pressured, "you need X size or no, you don't want to go that small, no you need bigger boobs cause you still want to be sexy." I heard all that from other places but never from anyone at Aisthetikos. They lift you up! Dr. Smith guided me through how we could achieve the look I wanted, gave me permission and time to change my mind, gave me options, involved me in choosing how we'd go about getting the look I wanted, and she encouraged me to trust my gut. Her team is phenomenal!!! These women are so skilled, meticulous, and experienced. They openly collaborate -- you have Dr. Smith and her whole team working together, sharing ideas, and listening to each other while caring for you. No ego wars! I love having a team open to learning and always looking for better ways to do something. She's never been condescending or made me feel embarrassed when asking questions. When doing something so personal like altering your body, you want to feel safe to ask anything and that's what I got from Dr. Smith. She's such a real, warm, caring person - not fake or all big empty talk. I met with some surgeons who were stiff, cold, matter of fact, the opposite of Dr. Smith. She explains and teaches like she's sharing tips with a friend. You want her hugs, laughs, and reassurance before surgery - puts you right at ease. And if you ever do a surgery awake with her, she's such a boss while simultaneously the chillest ever. I was awake for my second procedure with her and will have to do a separate post about how amazing it was. Dr. Smith is proactive: she's not going to wait till something goes wrong. She's going to prevent it and her whole office functions that way. She chooses smart, skilled experts to work with her and you feel it. Why I found Dr. Smith After my double mastectomy, a different surgeon put in bigger implants than we agreed on, despite me being very clear from the beginning that I wanted to be flat-chested. I saw numerous surgeons after that, trying to find someone who could remove them and do the reconstruction I wanted. Dr. Smith asked thoughtful questions about what I hoped for, what I liked/disliked, how my daily life & activity was, what my experience was like, and how I felt both physically and emotionally. My experiences with her: *The initial consultation was 5-8 minutes due to her needing to leave for an urgent matter she had to attend to. She had no other time to discuss in person or on the phone. *While she finishing up the surgery, she told me that she would come back to the room once I was cleaned up so that I could ask her a few questions. She never returned and I never saw her again. *She did not remove my sutures nor did she see me. When I asked to speak to her, they said they would take a photo of the incision and show it to her. I went to "Doctor" Smith for liposuction in April 2021. From the first day of operation, I felt like I hadn't done anything to myself because I didn't feel pain nor see any difference. I attended the first check-up appointment and even the nurse was surprised that I didn't have the small holes that are usually done with such surgery, only a very longggg cut. Months still passed and I didn't see any traces/ differences of operation. I went to several other doctors and they all said the same thing, that there was no liposuction procedure done on me. My friends and all the people who have seen me have come to the same conclusion that she did not do such surgery. I don't recommend going to her at all! If I could leave negative stars I would. I was referred to Dr Smith by a friend and have now been a regular in the office over the last few years for all of my cosmetic needs. She and her office staff are fantastic at making you feel comfortable and take their time to make sure you are satisfied with the results. Dr Smith has always set realistic expectations about my procedures and the results I have are always consistent with what we discuss. She doesn't try to push procedures on you or play into your insecurities like other plastic surgeons or the nurses at med spas (which are a joke btw, don't waste your time or money). I went into Dr. Smith's beautiful and comfortable office for Juvederm lip fillers after making the switch over from a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon. Although I liked my previous doctor, Dr. Smith quickly made her look unprofessional and unskilled. What I appreciate about Dr. Smith is how she carries herself. She herself is very put together and elegant, not to mention beautiful. After explaining how I wanted my lips to be shaped, she quickly took the floor and blew me away with her knowledge and laser accurate analysis. It might be corny to use phrases like "artist" or "master craftsman" but the way she planned my procedure made her seem exactly like those things. Every bit of the Juvederm was precisely placed. She sculpted not only my lips, but around the mouth and philtrum column to create a natural pouty look. You can tell she has an amazing aesthetic eye, stopping to access my face throughout the procedure to make sure everything was perfect. She would know exactly what I wanted tweaked without having to say it. Confidence and skill are given with Dr. Smith, and it's an added bonus to see her passion as she works. After the swelling went away, which took a few days, my lips looked gorgeous. People can't tell what's different and they're always shocked to find out my lips have been augmented. Stayed for the consultation and decided against using her for obvious reasons. Payed for the consultation but received an additional bill for an entire appointment that never happened. Reported her to my insurance company for fraud. She still doesn't get the message and continues to bill us for an appointment that never happened. Outrageous behavior. I also went back to our referring doctor because I just couldn't understand how our doctor would ever recommend her. The referring doc said she had never actually met her in person. I received juvederm lip injections 6 months ago by another doctor. My experience and results were just ok. I went to dr smith and my experience was 5 times better than the previous doctor. She really listened to what I wanted and would stop in the middle and ask for my input. She really made sure I had no bruising or swelling, because last time I was swollen and bruised for days. I was also in a lot of pain the first time. I was really shocked that within 2 hours after the appointment I was able to eat, drink, and talk as if nothing happened. My results were amazing! Over the course of 18 short months, I had lost my 27-year old step son in an accident, my husband when he suffered a heart attack (1 year and 10 days later) and had been diagnosed with Stage II breast cancer. After undergoing a mastectomy in July 2014 and becoming septic (when I was accidentally discharged without antibiotics) I required a 2nd emergency surgery that left my right breast in complete disrepair. Having survived all of this, it was imperative to me that I find a doctor whom I believed had integrity and a competent staff. I had consulted with no less then 12 doctors prior to selecting Dr. Smith in October 2014. Unfortunately I quickly found that Dr. Smith's staff was anything but professional... on several occasions; when I showed up for my appointments, I found the office door locked during business hours. On one occasion I was left waiting in the hallway outside their office for over 30 minutes, and had to call their Northern California Office in order to find out if I should continue to wait or go home AND I could not get Dr. Smiths office scheduling manager to return my phone calls or scheduled an appointment for meet directly with Dr. Smith to address my concerns. My surgical date for January was set in November, however by 12/10/2014 I had become aware of the fact that nothing had been done with regard to any releases, documentation or testing that would be required for my surgery to occur. I was finally able to met with Dr. Smith on 12/18/2014, both she and her staff had already been made aware of the fact that I would out-of-town from 12/24 through 1/6/2015, however I was assured that everything that needed to be done prior to my surgery, could be handled upon my return. On January 6, 2015 while traveling back to CA from Idaho; on a layover, I received a panicked telephone message from my medical case manager, informing me that Dr. Smith was threatening to cancel my surgery because she had not received any releases from my doctors (PCP, Cardiologist, Pulmonary Specialist) and she had no lab results. For the next 3 days (1/7-1/9/2015) I and many other medical professionals and doctors spent 8 to 12 hours a day jumping through hoops in order to make sure that Dr. Smith had all that she required for my surgery to take place on 1/12/2015 (even though the failure to have these things already done, was due to her office staffs inability to handle things in a professional and timely manner).. during the course of all this chaos, I received a telephone call on 1/7/2015 at 7PM, (after spending the entire day jumping between Mission Hospital and my cardiologists office in Huntington Beach) informing me that Dr. Smith was canceling my pre-surgical appointment scheduled for 1/8/2015, however when I asked if Dr. Smith was still planning on doing my surgery the proceeding Monday and if I should continue to keep my appointment with the Pulmonary Specialist and do my lab-work on 1/8/2015, the staff member who had called me had no answer.. at 10AM on Friday 1/9/2015 I was notified by Dr. Smith receptionist that Dr. Smith had decided to cancel my surgery and was given no explanation other then I would be receiving a letter in the mail... I understand that Dr. Smith had had two people give their notice and that this had upset her normal office routine, however the complete lack of professional treatment I received from Dr. Smith's staff (due to her ability to keep her house in order) from October 2014 through January 9, 2015 only further compounded the stress and anxiety already associated with reconstructive surgery. Not only did they basically waste 4 months of my life and make an already difficult situation worse, I found Dr. Smith's total disregard for ALL the efforts and time; over the course of 1/6-1/9/2015, by other medical professional and her colleagues (in an effort to rectify her staff's inability to do their jobs professionally) appalling..... it is my firm and honest belief that Dr. Smith should stick to administrating BOTOX and should NOT be providing medical attention to ANY cancer patient!! If you are look for great patient care, attentiveness and communication skills; this is not the place I would recommend.However, if you prefer the run-a-round, snotty-hoity-toity kind of place, jump right in! This place picks and chooses who they want, if they don't like you then they will make it impossible for you to work with. Not only will they make you go through endless testing procedures that are ridiculous and not required, then tell you later on they are not going through with the surgery but the tests are humiliating endeavors as well. I had called 8 months in advance, plenty of time for professional offices to work around, to get started on my surgery requirements and the staff never called me back as well never made an attempt to precede with my insurance. I ended up doing all the foot work for them, I feel that I should be paid for the time I put in getting everything in order. This is not a professional place of business, they wont work with you. If you are already beautiful and have had many procedures then they can definitely fix what's not broken. This place comes HIGHLY recommended for those who are young and just need those fake looking boobs installed. So, if you cherish customer service, hospitality and are needing something done in relation to health, such as cancer or a reduction of breast tissue, remember Aisthetikos only works with those who are wanting vanity surgeries, nothing serious.
