I found the chicken to be juicy, tasty, crispy and tender all at the same time! However, by the end, I found myself just wanting to finish it and thinking the batter was overbearing. I think this may be a personal taste thing where I didn't like it but others might so I'd encourage you to try it and draw your own conclusions.. can't go wrong at that promo price either. read more

My go to place whenever i crave for fried chicken burger. It is very similar to KFC fried chicken burger in China which is my favourite. The burger $9.49 is huge, fresh and tasty. I can also add extra tomato and lettuce, makes it even bigger and mouth full. AiTaiker is a small store (although quite clean and nice) more suitable for take out or single person quick meal. My first visit here was a number of years back when they first opened. I remember wondering how long they would last as it didn't seem very busy and while this is considered fast food you don't get it very fast (they do not have food precooked warming under heat lamps). There are a handful of tables to eat in but takeout is the preferred option. Everything on the menu is deep fried. Monster flattened chicken in different flavours, deep fried tofu, squid rings, chicken bento boxes (options of popcorn chicken or chicken tenders). They have a daily special menu (like Popeyes) where everyday is a different menu item at a daily special price. We ordered the popcorn chicken bento box (10 minute wait) and the daily special. Unfortunately they had just run out the daily special and we were told it would be a 30 minute wait so we passed on it. Portion of the bento box is incredibly generous, in addition to the popcorn chicken and rice you also get corn and broccoli. Chicken was tender and moist. Bento box was $11.99 and if you pay in cash you get 10% off. Really good deal. If price is no issue you can always use one of the food apps to order ahead and then pick up but you won't be paying $11.99 -10% for paying in cash. The alternative is to pop in, order and then wander over to the supermarket in the same strip mall and then come back to pick up, you can grab a seat and stare at your phone until your order is called, which is something most people were doing. read more

Wish they'll open for dine in again as the drive home smelling the chicken was tortuous haha We got 2 of the chicken cutlets combo, one original and one cheesy. The cheesy cutlet with black pepper season was by far the better one, as the black pepper adds a nice bit of spice while the lava cheese inside was so tasty! We also got the snack sampler which was a giant box of popcorn chicken, fried fish cake, and calamari. Maybe I walked in with an expectation that it'd be similar to the other Taiwanese style fried chicken I've had before, but one thing did throw me off, and it was the batter. Maybe it was just me, maybe it was just the day, but I'm not sure I liked it as much as the reviews suggested I would. Your usual Taiwanese style fried chicken nuggets or "Yan Su Ji/鹽酥雞" often has a thin layer of batter, made from potato starch and it's seasoned with a mixture of ginger, salt and pepper. This isn't it. While the usual yan su ji may be fried, the crispness is a lot flakier than what AiTaiker offers. This batter here seems to feel a bit like the puffed rice squares, better known as 沙琪瑪. It's not that it's bad, but it took me by surprise. The seasoning on the chicken was good. The chicken itself, was large, which coincided with the other reviews, but the batter? I'm not so sure it did it for me. I asked for the fried tofu as a side, and just like the chicken, it's the batter. It's the same style, and for some reason, it is very filling, and to some extent, I just feel it squish around my teeth as it's semi-hard edges that have a bit of a "crystalline" coating on it. It's not what I'm used to, I won't say it's bad though. I went for takeout, but the staff was nice and the restaurant itself was clean. This is a fast food restaurant, there's no purpose using a fine dining measure stick and wonder why the cutlery isn't properly polished. I have been here quite a few times already, as this is the closest place for taiwanese style fried chicken to me. The only other place I venture out to for taiwanese style fried chicken is hot star located around Yonge and Finch, and AiTaiker definitely has its own spin on things. Everytime I have come here, service has been prompt and efficient. I have not been dissapointed with what I order and really hits the spot. The menu isnt the largest, and it sticks to what it knows and does well. Given the fact I have been here a few times already, I wouldnt hestitate recommending this place if in the area read more

I will skip the pineapple drink as it was really watered. It is ok to be light and refreshing but there was just tasteless. So York Region finally has it's own Taiwanese Fried Chicken place. It seems like you can't walk 110 meters downtown with out walking pass one. We got a pretty good one!! Location: At Rutherford and Bathurst on the Richmond Hill Vaughan border. It's hidden in the plaza with TIm Hortons. Parking: the Suburbs so you know, lots and lots. Decor: It's a smaller place but there's still 7 or 8 two tops. You can push tables together if there's 4 or 6 of you. It's still new and had a wall of big windows that face south so it's nice and bright and shiny . It's mostly meant for take out i think it's nice for a take out place. Food: Taiwanese fried chicken place - so fried chicken. The flattened chicken breasts that you get with different seasonings, light and fluffy looking battered fried chicken, calamari, tofu, fries!. I've heard that the fried chicken sandwich is fantastic. i tried the New Orleans Chicken Sandwich, Fries, deep fried tofu and strawberry juice. The chicken was grilled! So there is a healthier option. It was thick and moist and juicy, not stringy and dry. woo. The sauce wasn't spicy. It was described to me as a bit sweet, but I didn't think so. The tofu was good. It wasn't super crispy more soft, but it is sauced (mmmm the sauce) but I think that was how it was supposed to be. The fries were the cooked but soft ones that I looooooove so much. But u can make the crispy chicken a combo and itll come with fries (non substitutable) and a drink. However, both the strawberry and pineapple drinks tasted EXTREMELY watered down. Ure better off getting a can of pop. The rice in the rice combos were mushy and too wet. The broccoli and corn are cold. As for the crispy chickens, you can choose one of the 4 flavours (seaweed, hot chilli, salt and pepper and black pepper) on whichever chicken u chose. Read good reviews on the honey crispy chicken, so i gave it a try. The flavours were there, but it wasnt as juicy as people were saying and theres no honey flavour at all. The squid balls, fried corn and tofu were delicious. They had a promo going on for fried tofu but i wasnt made aware of it at all but i overheard the cashier mentioning it to other customers. Happy New Year's everyone! 2021 has been a wild one and it's time to move forward to 2022 with my first post of this year! I've been to Taiwan a few years back and I've been craving taiwanese snacks, so when I discovered them. I was really blown away because it really hit the spot! A few items that I got were.... Crispy chicken burger - such a good burger! They use a brioche bun so it's extra fluffy and soft. As a for the chicken... it's so crispy and cooked perfectly. Taiker honey Crispy chicken (w/seaweed) - this was honestly my favourite snack! Again the chicken was perfectly cooked - crispy and juicy Taiwan is crispy tenders - if there's chicken tenders anywhere I need to get it! It did not disappoint Fried tofu - you don't even need sauce for this, it's so bye itself! Deep fried squid balls - usually squid balls are hard but this one's soft which is what I love about it. My absolute favourite place for Taiwanese popcorn chicken in the area. AiTaiker has always been consistently crispy, hot, and flavourful. The food always takes the same amount of time and I have never had to wait long. I've been here dozens of times and have found my two go-to items- the popcorn chicken and the crispy chicken sandwich. Popcorn chicken - what more can I say about it, it's simply the best I've been able to find in the area. I've found overall it to be seasoned heavily with salt + pepper but has the perfect crunch and optimal size. It's always made with dark meat so it is juicy every time. The honey option is also good, but one I wouldn't recommend for the reason that it isn't distributed evenly and also diminishes the *crunchiness* of the plain fried batter. Compared to Papa Chang's, this wins out by all metrics. The fried chicken sandwich - although nothing fancy or special has not upset me at all over the years. (comparing this to other fast food chains which offer chicken sandwiches like Popeyes and KFC). The batter is similar to what you would find at other chains (not the tapioca/sweet potato starch they use for their Taiwanese fried chicken) and the meat is always juicy. This place is within a plaza that has plenty of parking and easy to access overall. The store itself is small, but the decor is so cute and space is always clean when I visit. The cashier has been the same person the couple times I've visited and she's extremely friendly. I also appreciate her efforts on helping customers navigate through their menu! Polite as well. Flavour wise, taiwanese is too salty! Yes i choose salt and pepper, but didn't expect to be that salty. Delicious for few bites though, but have to stop eating since i cant tolerate the saltiness afterward (it's a huge piece). Volcano does not have too many mozarella on it. No wow or gooey / cheesy cheese effect/taste. Overall, the 2 chicken taste about the same. Husband love the taiwanese one. Me love neither. But i still want to try other flavor....figure i ordered the 'wrong' one. 2nd time: ordered the honey chicken seaweed. THIS IS THE ONE! Crispiness and tenderness is still perfect. Heard my friends talking about this restaurant that they couldn't stop from going there. So I wanted to give it a try personally to see if it's really that good. Basically, this restaurant is famous of Taiwanese fried chicken. I ordered items #1 Taiker Honey Crispy Chicken and #4 Volcano Cheese Chicken. After I have chosen my preferences, I was still given an option for the seasoning, I chose salt for item no. 1 and seaweed for item #4. I went to the restaurant at about noon and so it fell on the lunch hour special from 12:00 to 3:00. There would be a can of pop that came with each order without additional charge. Chickens were cooked upon order. I was informed that it would take longer for them to prepare for the Volcano Cheese Chicken and so I waited patiently. The order came out fresh and hot. First bite led me to feel that I was dying in heaven. The batter was well seasoned with flavour. One could hardly stop from biting on it. Besides, the meat was soooo tender. It seems to me the the outer skin of the volcano cheese chicken was more dryer than the regular one and the aroma of cheese did standout when I ate the volcano cheese. Solid all around I would say. Stopped here for lunch on a Sunday and was surprised that the place was rather empty at around peak time. Ordered the crispy chicken burger combo that comes with the burger, soft drink and some choice with sides for an additional charge but I just went with the french fries. Pleased to say that the chicken was huge with very large portions sticking out of the bun. Other than that though, the overall taste was ok with a crispy edge. Nothing really special about it honestly, maybe a bit light on the oil which was good. Fries were pretty good and again portions were solid. All three of them are incredibly delicious. the squid was super tender, crispy battered with aromatic seasoning on top makes you wonna have a huge bowl of rice to go with it. It's nice to finally have a Taiwanese Chicken joint in Vaughan! It's pretty close to my work so I've stopped by a couple times for lunch since they've opened. I've tried the the crispy chicken fillet, popcorn chicken, and squid balls. Everything is moderately seasoned and compliments the chicken well. I also like the crispy chicken is boneless, which makes it easier to eat. Even though everything is deep fried, it isn't overly greasy which is good. With the influx of Asians moving into the Vaughan area along with it comes the Asian restaurants. At the forefront of the Asian invasion comes AiTaker Fried Chicken a small Taiwanese fried chicken takeout place. Selfishly I was extremely happy about the new addition since I won't have to make a trek to Markham or Scarborough for some Taiwanese salt and pepper fried chicken. Absence of competition in the area AiTaker is adequate in satisfying a sudden craving for salt and pepper chicken. There are limited seating in the restaurant but we opted to take out the food to enjoy at home. Our order consisted of the taiker popcorn chicken bento, deep fried squid tentacles and the New Orleans chicken burger. Let's talk about the deep fried stuff first. I'm a fan of the crunch and flavour of the batter and the seasoning. I personally actually like the squid more so than the chicken. The chicken I found that for some of the smaller pieces had either just batter or a high proportion of it. The chicken bento rice came with a few pieces of broccoli and a small heap of corn. Rice was too mushy and an inferior quality of rice was used. Taiwanese restaurants generally use rice that is a hybrid of jasmine rice and Japanese rice. It was clearly not the case here. The sauce applied to the chicken and rice was a tremendous disappointment. It had the colour of a light soya sauce but had absolutely no flavour at all. I suggest that they look into a simple marinated fatty pork sauce that most Taiwanese places offer. The New Orleans burger had a spicy sauce that was appetizing. The bun was ok I suppose but I had no recollection of it so don't expect anything special. The piece of chicken I found too rubbery in texture. It reminds me of the mcwrap grilled chicken. One thing of note is the chicken for this burger is grilled and not deep fried. I'm not sure the picture in the menu speaks to that. This place will be our go to take out Taiwanese place due to ok food and proximity to home. I'm actually surprised that they don't sell bubble tea or at least have a more extensive beverage list aside from the two juices and pop. Maybe they will introduce more items as the business gets on track. read more

I really had high hopes for this place but the spicy crispy chicken sandwich i had was not good at all. The coating was heavy which fine but it tastes like flour, probably needed seasoning. The chicken was not even close to being spicy and the thigh meat in it was very stringy and leathery in texture. I really liked their fry's a lot. Really nice flavour and crispness. Probably would try the volcano chicken before writing this place off. read more
