Sake
Nancy A W.

Aji Izakaya is the place to be at if you want some great sake and sushi. We tried the summer roll, shaggy dog roll and avocado roll. They were all delicious! We also ordered a chicken and beef skewers with gyoza. The skewers were small but full of flavor. The Thai milk tea was watered down. I think it was all the ice added in but still delicious. The waiter gave me a great recommendation on the sweet sake called Kikusui Perfect Snow plus it was happy hour so this was great timing. The atmosphere was perfect with ramekins to eat your sushi in and they had chopsticks, spices and ginger available for you at the table. The service was fantastic where they tended to us and the food was served to us so quickly. Plus the seating felt comfortable and relaxing. This place is 10 out 10 here.

Garlic Pepper Albacore Sushi, Yellowtail Sushi, Madai Sushi, chutoro (2), otoro (2)
Brittany B.

So I'm back from Japan, and the food just isn't the same, especially on the Northside. Missing the Izakaya life, I was happy to see Aji Izakaya pop up on my quest for otoro. It's supposedly offered for a limited time only, and $22 for two pieces but you know me, I clicked the order button anyways. Luckily, I have 0 regrets. Even after enduring the unfortunate time delay from a takeout order journey home, the otoro was remarkably comforting, and hit all of the marks of quality otoro. Ofcourse sushi is about the fish and the rice, but honestly, this fish on poorly executed rice would still win hearts. Ofcourse I ordered more than otoro. I also nabbed some chutoro (which was delightful), salmon that fit the bill, and a few cuts that fell a bit short in either texture, cut, or flavor (garlic pepper albacore tuna, yellowtail and my beloved Madai). Excited to see influences from other cultures I grabbed the spicy kimchi cucumbers and enoki chips as makeshift sushi sides. I also grabbed an order of Brussels sprouts for good measure. I'd personally reorder the kimchi cucumbers and enoki chips. Both a bit lackluster on their own, each proves itself to make the perfect pairing with various sushi bites and other dishes. I'm a first timer to enoki in chip form and found it pairs beautifully with your extra pickled ginger, and would be amazing dipped in a spicy chili sauce. Although there were a few misses in this meal, I'm a sucker for a restaurant that introduces me to new food pairings, and takes care in packaging their to-go orders. Aji did both. So will I be back? Ofcourse,l will! They've certainly earned a dine in experience from this foodie. It's great to see this level of execution in Cypress.

Came here on my birthday, food was good quality for the price. Their sushi tasted fresh and was well made. We had pretty good customer service. The waiters were attentive but it also was that packed. It's a nice place with lots of seating, decorated very nice as well it's a nice ambiance. My friend who is on the carnivore diet was very impressed with their meat choices and prices.

Kimchi fries.

My bff and I visited this spot two nights in a row because it's just that great. Service is so friendly. The food is top notch. I ordered the kimchi fries. I have never had that before but they were delicious. I also ordered the Tokyo and 911 rolls. So yummy. I wish I had gotten a skillet plate because it looked delicious in real life. We went on a Monday and Tuesday evening and it was getting packed around 7. But it wasn't noisy. There were a good number of families there. It was so sweet! Everyone was lovely!

I got the 'Shrimp Tempura Curry Ramen' which was absolutely delicious. The employees were very quick and super kind. I loved all the decorations that they had on the food. The ambience is spacious.

Came here for dinner and it did not disappoint. The staff was friendly, the service was good and the ambiance was nice. We ordered several small dishes. The sushi pizza came and It was very saucy. I am.not usually a fan of sauced up stuff but this was really good. The flavors were well balanced and it had a nice crunchy to it. The skewers are small but tasty. When we got there is has happy hour so the wine and sake was 50% off! It was a win win meal!

Rock N Roll (Plain)
Leah W.

I was craving sushi and decided to give this spot a try! I kept it simple and ordered a plain Rock n Roll with only shrimp tempura and snow crab inside. Among picking up my order I was worried because the seaweed had a strong odor that I could smell before opening the box but I believe it was because the shrimp were fresh and warm enhancing the smell of the seaweed. Or it could've possibly been the sesame seeds blend on top, I could be wrong but it somewhat looks like Nori Furikake which I know has dried seaweed in it. However, once I tasted my food all my worries went away. I didn't even taste anything too fishy, everything tasted fresh and for the first time ever I didn't need any soy sauce with my sushi!! This roll came with eel sauce, spicy mayo and sweet soy sauce that I put on the side. The sweet soy sauce was amazing with this roll. While picking up my order I saw other customers dining and their food looked and smelled delicious. I will definitely be back, also the interior design is so cozy and nice inside!

Gyoza; Houston Roll; Chicken

We love going to Aji. The service is always good and fast, and the food is fresh. It really is a great experience. This time we have gyozas, Houston Roll and Chicken.

Crunchy!!!

Holy mother of all that is Holy and sushi sacred. New "Go-to" spot for sushi? Target acquired. First time visiting any sushi-ya always try the basics before diving into house specialties. Just a pro-tip. The egg rolls were our starter. Delicious. Light, airy, crispy dough stuffed with filling (You listening Soporro?!?) and a dipping sauce that looked home made instead of store bought neon orange sludge. Delicious. The Chicken Bao. Wife had never had one and could not believe how light and fluffy the bun was!!! Chicken was tender and pickled veggies were crunchy little flavor bombs. Spicy mayo had just the right kick to wake you up. Loved these. Chicken Karrage...winner winner...well. You know the song. Crispy breading and sauce was patiently applied apparently to every piece. No dunking in sauce to ruin that great crust and juicy chicken. California roll with crunch and Unagi sauce added. Spicy ponzu on side. Just. Yes. That's an accurate description. Shaggy dog with extra crunch added. No ponzu needed for this one. The spicy mayo and unagi sauce were perfect (although I did add some of the house chili oil. Sweet, salty, and spicy all at one time. They should bottle and sell this.) Dessert...unagi...just...unagi. Everything was amazingly fresh, no smells at all. Not enough people respect the sushi rice, but this was an excellent preparation with just enough sticky and vinegar sweet. Almost had the texture of traditional air-fanned rice. Restaurant was super clean and operated efficiently. Shout out to Leon!! Excellent service and staff. Y'all did an amazing job!!! Going out for sushi in the Bridgeland area and not making this your go-to is like playing whack a mole with a pasta noodle. It just makes no sense. So. Great food? Fantastic service? Clean? Efficient? Close to home? Yep. All check marks. A well deserved rock solid 5 stars. Take my wallet or just run me as credit, I'd don't care. Will. Be. Back!!!!

Spicy Edamame

We went again because we liked it so much the first time. This time we ordered Ramen and again it was very delicious. However-the restaurant was extremely loud. There were many families with small children and several were screaming/crying. This is not the restaurant's fault-and I still think it's great. Not sure if there is anything that can be done about the noise as it has definitely become a popular place for families.

Red Dragon Roll

Line out the door and 20 minute wait was a surprise for this suburban location but, boy, totally worth it. By far the best sushi I have had in the burbs. Incredibly fresh- every bite. Large rolls at a great price. The servers prompt and pleasant. And the decor is darling. The only problem is now we HAVE to drive 20 minutes - or we will feel stupid. This place was so much better than the rest.

Chicken skewer
Tiffany S.

Walked on based of yelp reviews. Had a taste for some ramen, they had a bar in the back where they placed to go orders. Restaurant was cute, vibes were chill and decorative. The young lady in the back, wasn't attentive at all. Didn't say hi, and when ordering she was very distracted by everything else going on but me in front of her. Ordered the chicken skewer ramen and spicy edamame. Took about 15 minutes to get my food and there was no thank you. Went home and VERY disappoint in the portion size of skewer for 15 bucks. Overall, flavor was okay, I was disappoint in the attentiveness that was displayed.

Tonkatsu Ramen
Auzannette H.

The place was pretty busy, so we sat at the bar. However, we were approached right away with menus. Once we ordered and waited, the sushi chef offered us free squid samples while we waited. It was my first time having it and it was so good. The entire experience was great and the decor/vibe was awesome with hints of One Piece all around. The pickled veggies on the table was awesome as well. I'm definitely going back with my anime loving son.

I'm proud that they have servers of this caliber at Asian restaurants in Houston, TX. Usually you see professional servers at upscale restaurants. There was a busboy there towards the end, and even he was super professional. Whoever the manager is at this location, you guys are doing an outstanding job training the staff here. Keep up the good work! 2. Price - about $15/bowl. 3. Ambiance - The decor here is beautiful. There are natural lighting from the front, with wood panels everywhere, lanterns hung high. They did a nice job decorating the place and you definitely feel as if you're in Japan somewhere. 4. Food - This is where this place shines compare to all the ramen places in Houston. They have the option of low sodium broth. I took one sip, and it felt like home cooked Ramen. I'm not talking about instant ramen that you buy from the store, but the ramen made from scratch. I often go to ramen places in Houston and I dread going because I know how salty they taste. There are 2 other locations I have in mind in Houston that are also my favorites. But I would say this is not bad compared to the bowl of ramen I had in Narita, Japan. If you're wondering what I've ordered, it was the CHICKEN RICH RAMEN and make sure to request for low sodium. 5. Cleanliness - Dining area is well kept, clean, and the busboy is on top of things. The restroom is questionable. The personal restroom doors are hard to close and lock. For management, have a look at the restrooms and see if you can improve things. SUMMARY: I would definitely come back. It is just THAT GOOD!

I was so hungry I forgot to get a photo of the initial presentation, but the noodles were perfect and the broth was tasty. Other than that, it was pretty lackluster: the soft-boiled egg was hard and one of the grossest eggs I've had, and the chashu was cold. We also ordered some chicken karaage, but that never showed, and our waiter was too busy to stop by so I could tell him. I'm not familiar with the ramen scene in Houston, but Kizuki was a huge letdown, especially with their roots to Japan. ご馳走様でした

I really loved the vibe of the restaurant too, it's small but has a homey vibe that would be great for either a small group hangout or a date. There's a lot of bars to visit nearby too. The bibimbap and bulgogi roll could not hold up to the first two, so we opted to take them to go. The selection is a bit more limited for lunch, but the price is lower than dinner as well. Being AYCE, I wouldn't expect the highest quality, type, and cut of fish, but what they had was pretty solid, tasted fresh, and was delicious. A minor complaint would be they had no sashimi option, even for the tamago which I personally believe is eaten best without rice, but that's just minor stuff considering the good value here. As much as I try to find a reason not to give this place an outstanding rating, if I compare it to the AYCE category of restaurants, it did everything right. They do have a regular a la carte menu, with a selection that looks like a treat in itself. As for me, I highly enjoyed their jalapeno bomb to start. I highly doubt they used snow crab, tasted like imitation crab, but I enjoyed it nevertheless and got another order at the end. I tried a few nigiri while I was here, with eel being my favorite (and thank goodness for no bones, which was lucky because it's eel). Their tacos were an unexpected standout and is worth a bite or two. Using sheets of nori and frying it to it holds up like a shell is pretty genius and more places need to do this. I had a good time with their Burning Alaska signature maki, which has salmon as the main star. The smokiness from torching was a killer! Their curry reminded me of S&B, which might very well be the mix they used. I was a bit disappointed to not see fish katsu as an option considered it's a sushi place, but I can see the katsu curry selection being a good option as a comfort dish. I wish I had the stomach space to try out new stuff, but maybe next time. Wish someone would post a photo of the salmon skin salad, because I'm a bit curious about that!
