I have to update my review. I used to go there quite a bit and dealt directly with Jeff and the staff who worked for him a couple years ago. Unfortunately, Jeff is now a politician and is never there. He has put in place a group of highly disrespectful folks whose main purpose is not to sell you firearms, ammo and accessories but instead mock you, treat you like garbage while looking down on you. One dude in particular spends his entire day surfing the web and would not get off his chair and walk 3 feet to assist me with buying a replacement battery for one of my optic. I bought several firearms there as well as x amount of ammo. I am 100% not going back to this place until I hear that a personnel overhaul took place. read more

Most of the guys who work there are super cool especially the tall thin guy with the blonde beard. Good selection especially during this time where everybody is out of stock. The one huge complaint I have is that short chick with the green eyes. Ridiculously rude and impatient for no reason at all. Went in there to pick up my gun and told me to fill out wrong forms then got mad and gave me attitude when I did. I went in there happy to pick up my new gun and pissed when I left because of her. Shame she still has a job there. I literally made a yelp just because of how much she pissed me off. AJI is "ok" - It is really the only place of its kind in this area, so I do go there once in a great while to look around. I have purchased a couple of small items, but that is about it - Although the selection is huge, the prices are on the high end. It is almost always busy, so be prepared for a wait if you have a question or need assistance. They have few employees for such a large shop, and most of them are in a seated position the times that I have been there..... The last time I was there they had an older gentleman at the cash register - He was very slow, to the point that people were leaving their purchase & walking out. Kind of surprising that a business of this magnatude is unable/unwilling to get more help and more efficient help. Parking behing their shop is a bit of a pain, especially on the weekend - If you are driving a large vehicle, you might be in for a challenge! Lastly, there is a TON of stuff within reach of little hands, so it really is NOT a kid-friendly place. Kind of a shame in this day and age - Seems like firearm-related businesses would be catering to "families", etc. YES, parents SHOULD supervise their children appropriately, but the way this place is laid out, it is just a disaster/lawsuit in the making. I like old guns and I liked the large pistol and rifle inventory prices were okay as well. However I was not acknowledged or greeted or even asked if I'm looking for something. To me I find it retarded to not be the least friendly. I seen them talking to others I have money and a huge firearm enthusiast They almost had a purchase from me but nah. Also I seen some politics stuff hanging. It doesn't bother me but from a business stand point religious and political jesters or slogans can be bad for business. Bought a Glock 19 use and based on all the reviews I did not see or have any problems with the staff. Everyone was very helpful and it was great having some dogs around to pet . I have purchased at least two guns at AJI. The 1st one was a pistol as a Xmas gift for my son. Taylor, the cute girl that works there, bent over backwards to not only find the gun we wanted but to hold it for me and give me a really good price. The 2nd purchase was a mint-cond subgun that was about 1/2 price what it normally is. Yes, I was very happy. Ammo prices are reasonable and the staff is not "in your face" (I hate that) but available upon request. They also have plenty of accessories and other goodies and even throw in free sodas for the kids. Yes, I stop there whenever I'm in the area to see what's up on the wall or just say "hi". 90% of their stock are used firearms. If you want some historic weapons that need some tlc this is a good place. Most are in rough shape, maybe missing parts, or rusty and really not priced competitively. Maybe the AJ market is for used firearms and this is a good option. For how large the place is, very little ammo to pick from. All of it is old too which is fine, just odd. You think a gun store would cycle through ammo quickly and only have new boxes. A strong political angle is common at these establishments, which is to be expected. But, they had a "fake news" t-shirt using the same logo as fox news. I don't think they got the joke. That was my favorite part of the store. read more

Today I purchased a Ruger 9mm from AJI. This was my first time I been here and the store was full of people purchasing guns and ammo. The staff was very on it, all customers were served and they handled the crowd very well! I'd like to thank the owners daughter I believe her name is Taylor but forgive me if I'm wrong she helped me find a holster for my gun. It was a very pleasant experience for sure and I'm very appreciative for them dealing with their customers with respect and not stressing out with those crowds I would be stressing. I have to disagree with previous reviews stating that the staff isn't rude, because I had a different experience. First off, they had a decent selection (though a bit over priced) and I found the item I needed. But that's where my "ok" experience went south. He asked where I was from, an innocent question that usually doesn't prompt hostility. But he took it to a nasty place, insulting my home, my state, and even suggesting that I "don't live in America." I'm very aware that a gun shop is traditionally a conservative environment, but c'mon you guys! You're at your JOB, and that is not the place to push your political beliefs to the point where you make customers feel unwelcome. Today I bought a handgun from A J I and it was a great experience. Why? Because yesterday I called about a gun not in stock, and Chlorisa (forgive an old man if I messed up the name) took my call and checked with their distributors for availability, AND called me back promptly. Great service- plus she put me down on a short 'wish list' and will check for stock occasionally. So I bought the handgun in stock I also wanted, which she had set aside for me yesterday when I called. She was waiting with my purchase when I arrived at 9 AM. Nice. Worst gun shop I've ever been in!! I have walked into AJI roughly 6 times in the past 10 years. Every time has been a terrible experience.I have never been greeted or asked if I can be helped. Once I was ignored for 10 minutes, then an older gentleman walked in and they greeted him and bent over backwards to help him. This has happened more than once. Now you may be thinking , what was I wearing to make them ignore me? Just a polo shirt and cargo pants and yes I am very clean cut. I am also a deputy sheriff for a local law enforcement agency so you can imagine how respectable I looked. Anyway, today was the last straw. It was 3:54pm and they close at $pm. All I needed was a box of ammo and basic Smith & Wesson knife. As soon as I walked in, they told me that they are closed because they close at 4pm . Once I went in there with $2000 in my pocket and was ready to buy an AR-15 and a Glock-22 and was willing to pay a little more for the local convenience. I was ignored for about 15 minutes until I gave up and waited to take a trip to Scottsdale Gun Club. Now thats a fantastic place to buy guns. And I get a discount. The drive is long but I'm done trying to deal with AJI. They think they can treat people any way they want cause there's not much competition in Apache Junction. I will drive to Caswells or SGC or even Glendale before I ever set foot in AJI again. Keep shooting yourself in the foot AJI. read more

I stopped by today looking for a cheap used 22 pistol. They had one. I asked if it had any kind of warranty that it would shoot. The rude Manager said no, upon pressuring him he sent a rude associate to test the gun. You guest it, it didn't work. Had I not put on the pressure they would have sold me a useless gun with no warranty. Oh ya, don't even try to talk to the guy at the counter on the computer. Only 1 nice guy I talked to, the rest were rude or just to busy to even say hi. The Mayor was the rudest, I know I'm only one but you lost my vote. read more

This is by far my favorite gun shop in AZ. For years they have taken trade-ins and provided better prices then anyone in the south west. They have a large selection of new and used guns at very reasonable prices. Like most small business these days they are having a ruff time. Very competitive pricing, highly knowledgeable staff, low pressure and great trade-in values. They've recently expanded and have a huge selection of weapons, accessories, survival items and hard-to-find ammo. I'm a bit surprised by a couple of the reviews here...granted, some of the people at AJI might not exude personality, but I never found anyone to be "un-friendly." I originally went here for an FFL transfer. Although, there was at least 5 people working here at the time not a single one of them bothered to look up, say hello or welcome and they continued to act like I wasn't even there for over 10 minutes. I had to corner one of the employees just to get them to take my money so I could get my gun and leave. Being military I usually do my firearm purchases here when I'm in town. Transfers, ammo, guns and anything else you'd want are all there and reasonably priced enough that I don't really bother shopping around anymore. I've never had any if the problems than some reviewers have had and actually really enjoy the folks that work there, even the stores cattle dog. Sometimes they do have a LOT of customers which may explain some of the service complaints but they get five stars from me. read more

First I want to address the customer service complaints. They all sound about the same, nobody was rude, just nobody was a big help. I sort of observed this as well. I attribute it more to disorganization. I was asked several times if I needed help, unfortunately when I did, another customer would grab the person or a coworker would need something. I think they'd benefit from more clearly defined roles. The selection is insanely good. Everything from old military surplus to the most modern hotness. Prices on guns are fair, used guns I found priced very reasonably. Ammo and accessories are a little high. I imagine it's because they carry SO MUCH product, that they basically have to charge rent for it. You just can't move that much stuff that fast. That being said, I'll pay 10% more to actually be able to buy something now vs. trying to locate an item online. If they were a little more organized and a couple of the staff members had as much energy as the young lady that helped me, it would be 5 stars. read more

Every time I go into AJI looking for some random, hard-to-find item that none of the other shops have, they have it. Staff is responsive to answering questions, and usually quite knowledgeable. The guns are priced fairly, the accessories are CHEAP, and the ammo is priced fair for the market they are selling it in. They always have ammo available; because they charge a little more. If you're not wanting to buy 30,000 rounds for SHTF, you won't have a problem with an extra $0.50/box so that you can take your kids shooting every now and again without lining up at walmart at 4am to get ammo. It does get a little busy, but that's the price you pay for going to the best shop in the area. In short: Great service. Good prices on most things, fair prices on everything else. Lines can get a bit long, but it's worth the wait. read more

As the first time going on are I was really impressed with how Dave Warren responded when I told him I knew nothing about guns. This store has an incredible stock in inventory of merchandise. It seems that every employee here is happy to work here because they're helpful to everybody as you can hear their so kind to all the other customers. The selection and prices are phenomenal after we shopped other gun stores we kept coming back here they even do trade ins that are very reasonable and benefit the customer. I was referred to AJI's gunsmith by a friend. Never have done any business with AJI or their gunsmith so I read the reviews on Yelp. AJI had good reviews and poor reviews. I always check reviews before I decide whether or not I want to do business. I was thinking of using AJI's gunsmith so he could look at my Rossi Ranch Hand I just purchased. I wrote their gunsmith an E-mail asking his price just to look at the gun in order to see if any additional work was needed. To Date, I have not received an E-mail back. From reading the reviews where customers have mentioned poor customer service, not E-Mailing me back I would consider poor customer service as well. Guess AJI has so much business, at the moment they're not concern obtaining any additional business. read more

I stopped in to browse around. They have a really cool setup. Its a gun shop with a lot of "stuff". It is setup like shops i remember going into with my dad when i was young. Has a really cool old school feel to it. Shop dog and all. Prices seemed normal compared to everyone else. M855 5.56mm was $400 for 1,000 rnds...seems steep. Experience will be a toss up, but when it's bad its really bad. You'll either get someone friendly and helpful or someone really off putting. Had a couple great interactions in there, and I've done about 6 transfers from them (ordered things online after I called and asked and they don't ever get/don't carry what I was looking for in) but recently behind the counter was this stocky guy with a big beard that was really rude and condescending, like anything I asked him he was bothering and about as unfriendly as can be (I wasn't even tire kicking, I knew what I was talking about and I bought a gun in store and picked up another from a transfer!). Really rubbed me the wrong way because it's happened on different days and couple that with jumping their their transfers from $20 to $30 I'm just going to find a new FFL. Dealing with that nonsense just isn't worth it when there are a myriad of firearms dealers around. Don't need treated like garbage when I'm spending thousands at your business. read more

A friend and I went to AJI's yesterday. It was a very busy day at the store. We found the store to be well stocked with guns and accessories. I was patient because of the large amount of customers but when it was my turn the salesperson was very attentive, respectful, knowledgable and courteous. Even though they had the handgun I was looking for, the price (although fair) exceeded what I was prepared to pay. The salesperson thanked me for my interest and I was on my way. On my second trip to AJI I made my purchase. The first time I went they were packed and I was a bit uncomfortable. The second trip however was very informative and the staff was very helpful. I told them I did not know what I was really looking for but I knew I needed something for protection. Having an injury they helped me find the weapon that was easy to use that did not cause any pain. I have yet to use it due to circumstances beyond my control but I am confident that if there is an issue I will be able to take it back to AJI. The volume of inventory is good. Prices are a bit high. I have purchased many guns and accessories from them. The staff is extremely rude and pompous. I have asked others about their experiences with AJI and I have gotten the exact response prior to letting them know my opinion. I will not be going back. I have found True Guns in Apache Junction. I was looking for a Christmas gift. I called AJI and they seemed like it was a hassle to even answer the phone. I asked if they had the gun I was looking for, His exact words or should I say word was, no and hung up. They did not offer to order it. They basically just hung up on me. This store runs hot and cold in terms of customer service and employee attitude. It takes a lot for me to get butthurt by some arrogant counter guy so at the end of the day it doesn't bother me much. I mostly have used them for transfers over the past 8 years but, I always ask if they have the firearm I want and/or will they match the price. The only reason I did not give the 4th star was during a recient transfer of a very expensive over/under shotgun they presented me with the leather and canvas case but NOT the box it was shipped in. The box that many high end shotguns are shipped in are of a unique size and shape so they are needed should you need to ship the firearm back for warranty work.....Long story short, they would not give me the box, however they would SELL me the box. I paid for the shipping of the shogtun which includes the weight of the box. Basically, they ripped me off on the box. So, after many years of purchasing items from them, alas, I will take my business elseware. read more
