Overall, we had a very good experience at this Big 5 today at 11am. It didn't start off good as my husband asked the guy behind the gun counter about registering his guns from California and he didn't know anything about that. We proceeded back to the shoe area and ran into Connor. He was so knowledgeable about shoes and very friendly and helpful. He really elevated our experience! We walked out with two pairs of shoes. Went in search of a baseball to get signed and not only did ai get the ball but it came with a display case so that's like an2-for-1 deal in itself! It was pricey but it didn't matter to me since I really needed a ball. This store is well stocked and the employees were very friendly and helpful,'always smiling as they interacted with me and other customers. This location is on my way home from work, not in the best part of town but still easily accessible and on my way home, so when I need any sports-related items, I know where to shop! read more

I will start by saying I have never been treated so poorly in a store. The manager LEVI was absolutely horrible. We hunted everywhere for football cleats and the only pair we could find had a bad shoe lace which we didnt notice until we got home. We went into the store thinking we could just swap laces with another pair but nope. Then I asked if they would discount them since they were damaged and then we would just buy new laces but nope. He rudely told me I could drive across town to the only other store that had our size or we coudl return them. He was rude the entire time and was unwilling to remedy at all. My son was in the store as well and he commented that he never wanted to work at a Big 5 because the people who worked their were mean. And now 1 hr til game time and we have no cleats. read more

Big 5 is really close to my house, so it is a go-to for camping, fishing, sports, hot and cold gear, and even shoes and boots. It's a hodge-podge, really. The store is on the eastern end of the Basha's retail strip. There is ample parking. Exterior cleanliness is so/so. Inside the store is small, but jam-packed. Aisles can be difficult to maneuver, and it is hard to stop and look at things, since someone may need to get by. The clothing racks in the center are cluttered as well. The store is pretty clean. The selections are pretty good. There are sport and hiking shoes and boots, as well as work boots. The prices are comparatively pretty good. I always find something neat or a good priced item for our survival kit. On this visit, I got a few on sale items: A camping cook kit and a multi-use camping shovel. I also got some exercise equipment, some much-needed citronella coils, and a pair of comfy capris from the clearance rack. Check out can be slow and arduous. I have never been in with more than one cashier. The gal is very friendly, but the service area can be inefficient, especially if the person in front of you is purchasing a Tonto Pass or licensing. Overall, Big 5 is worth a look! Get in their email list for coupons and sales. read more

Came in today, because online they had a special going for their Sundolphin Bali 10SS kayak. The sign on the wall stated the kayak description I was looking for, but when I asked them about it they told me the kayak next to the displayed sign was a different one. They checked all the other stores to see if the Sundolphin one was available at any locations but it wasn't and they weren't getting anymore in. I politely asked if they'd honor the displayed price they listed incorrectly next to the kayak in the store and they declined. I felt the least the could do was honor the price. I came in wanting to buy a kayak, was willing to pay an extra $100 for the other one they had in store because they didn't carry the one I wanted and they still refused. My daughter and I went to Big 5 today to get her another softball bat. There were two employees in the store and three customers. Initially the employee was nice and pointed us towards the bat area. My daughter wanted to swing three or four bats to see what she liked. We looked for a safe place in the store to swing, but the store has a lot of products and thus no bat swinging area. I asked the initially nice employee if we could step outside in the front of the store to swing the bats. The employee acted like I was going to steal a bat. I returned the bats to the bat rack and left the store to never return to that store. The other employee that was back near the shoe area completely ignored us when we asked him for help. I will save money and purchase from Amazon and stay out of Big 5. read more

Went to this location to quickly pick up new dumbbells and a sports bra. Had my husband with our 5 month old in the stroller. Older gentleman employee, possibly manager followed us around the store like he we were teenagers wearing oversized hoodies and backpacks looking to steal something. Asked if we needed help finding anything specific and when we said no (I had already grabbed what I wanted and was actually headed to the register) he made a comment about how "it was good that looking was free" The girl working the register was super sweet and nice thus improving my mood about the experience but the older manager-type man has turned me off from this location. Went there to buy a knife and it was on display for 29$ . Turned out the store manager had the wrong price on it and he wouldn't honor it . Kinda sucks since I usually buy all my sons sporting stuff from there . Really disappointed in the customer service read more

A few weeks ago I was in town. My future roommate needed a pair of shoes for walking and some socks. Upon arrival we were greeted by one of the store associates. He asked if we were finding all the products accordingly. My roommate was lost as usual. I went to help her. Then we proceeded to the back of the store. To the footwear department. Everyone was very HELPFUL with finding shoe sizes for us. Great service. The best part of our trip was the cashier! She was warm and friendly. She asked how our day was in a genuine manner. My roommatss some what strange. The cashier totally understood that (got the drift) and remaind professional. She was VERY knowledgeable and had service WITH a smile. My roommate and I are very impressed with the service! Also the PRICES! The management team needs to recognize the cashier. It was on a Sunday afternoon and she had dark hair.
