I really wanted Fuego to hit, but it was pretty underwhelming The Veggie Monster wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't anything to write home about. I was expecting big flavor, some richness, a little pop--something. Instead, it was pretty flat and honestly gave me slightly elevated toast energy. The salad was kind of the same story. Not terrible, just not hitting. The cilantro and jalapeño mixed with the sweet dressing somehow made the whole thing way sweeter than hubs expected. He kept waiting for something tangy, savory, or spicy to come through and balance it out, but it never really happened. On the bright side, the sweet tea was really good, so they definitely get points for that. Overall, nothing was bad enough to hate, but nothing really wowed me either. I've been coming to this Fuegos since it opened years ago when traveling through BCS. Sadly, it has changed and not for the good. The chicken in my taco was super dry, my queso tasted soapy, the green salsa on the salsa bar had no substance to it and tasted like spicy water, the cucumber/onion mix that usually has a nice vinegar base was salty and watered down, and to top it all off, half my husbands tortilla to his taco was missing! . It was a disappointment all around. I get every restaurant can have an "off" day, but this experience felt like a noticeable decline in quality all around. This is one of my favorite restaurants for breakfast tacos but lately they have consistently gotten my order wrong. I'm at a point now where I believe they are deliberately getting my order wrong whenever I place an online order. The manager will no longer send surveys to my email it's more than likely been flagged. So now I'm turning to Yelp to make sure that the manager of this restaurant is held accountable. For example I was told that they sell barbacoa only on Fridays through Monday yet you can order it through the app and be charged on any other day which in my opinion is fraud. This is absolute mismanagement. I'm going to continue to eat here and if they continue getting my order wrong I will continue to post negative reviews until they get their s*** together. The food here has been amazing since my college days at A&M, it has been consistent and always will be. Service is excellent, very nice and relaxing atmosphere during the weekdays when its not packed. fuego is a quintessential spot in the college station area. i've been here more times than i can count in my years at tamu! they have great tacos at great prices and are open all hours of the night (literally) to serve even the most red-eyed college students after a long night of studying (or whatever they're up to). the menu remains mostly consistent with new additions added here and there-- my personal favorites being the guisada and angus beef tacos along with the campeche fish taco. personally, i find the chips and queso to be better tasting down the street at torchy's, but in comparing the tacos, while torchy's has a standardized menu with consistent and bold flavors i love, what fuego lacks in boldness they certainly bring in size and uniqueness. one taco can definitely be a meal for someone with a smaller appetite, and even as a fan of torchy's diablo sauce, i find myself not needing it with how filled and flavorful the tacos are here. always a full house with a bit of a line to get your food, can be quite long depending on the hour you come in, but seating is generally plentiful and they keep the place clean! i thoroughly enjoy coming here and it's definitely been a highlight of my experience in cstat being able to get quality tex-mex style tacos right near by during basically all-hours all-days of the week! overall: 9/10 taste: 8.5/10 price: 10/10 (4.5/5 but rounding up to 5 stars because they truly are a cstat staple worth trying and going back to!) read more

Fuego is simply a College Station staple. I'm assuming if you're reading this review it's likely because you've never been- otherwise you'd already be inside devouring a taco. Can't really go wrong with anything on the menu here. Some of my favorites are the Dodge City Mac n Cheese, and the Southern Comfort. This trip into town I was craving breakfast, so I went with a simple potato and egg, and their new "Fist Pump" which was incredible. Highly recommend Fuego forever and always. I found this place when I was studying at Sam Houston State back in 2014. I'll always travel for amazing food! And this place stole my heart. My absolute favorite is the El Presidente. It comes with a fried avocado. Need I say more? I drove from Houston to Cstat on a Saturday morning. Arrived around 1pm. The place was packed but we were still able to find a table. The line was long but moved quickly. The Fist Pump is a new item and was ok. Of course the El Presidente was just as amazing as I'd remembered. The Dr Pepper Cowboy was good, and the Buffalo Bill has a kick of tobasco sauce but was still good. The service was super quick. We didn't wait long before our food was brought to us. The bussers were super diligent about grabbing the taco trays and cleaning tables. Shouts to them! (P.s. a lot of people left trays and trash on their tables, which isn't necessary since there's trashcans and places to put your empty trays. All that to say, please clean up after yourselves!!)
