The place locks the door at 4:50 even though online and on the door, it says open till 5:30. I've tried to come here to eat the last two days after work and the same thing happens to me where they have closed the doors almost 40 minutes before they say they close. The last couple of times I've come in the food seemed to be previously cooked. I felt like my food was heated up in the microwave. Not to mention, I had to get up and go ask for whatever I needed while they were sitting down on the phone. The restaurant frustrated me to the point where I have downloaded yelp and made my first review ever. I'm done trying with this restaurant. I just placed an order, foolishly thinking that the Ajiaco would be their specialty, I was wrong, it's just a chicken soup with tons of potatoes, the broth is just liquid, not much flavor, and for those of us that are Colombian, believe me, that's not ajiaco! Came ti this place with my office partners, did see the reviews and for that we came... first impression was it was completely empty... we did give it a try again for the reviews. For me, average, service might be a notch above average but again, 1 table only.... Food, I had the rib soup for which Colombia is also famous and it was ok... for me, missing flavor and balance.... also had some fried plantains and these were reheated.... my partner had an arepa with cheese and this was ok. Imagine how a strip club in the former Soviet Bloc would look...that's how I'd describe the décor of Ajiacos, all cement and chipped mirrors. Unless you count the 10 Botero knock-offs, which the Salvadorian server assured me were authentic. Considering that some douche just paid $1.7 million dollars for an original Rafael Botero, I have some advice for the owner. Take the $17 mil you have hanging on your sexploitation prison movie walls, and invest in an oceanfront penthouse with a matching Porsche Panamera S-Hybrid. Take the leftovers and pour it down your throat or up your nose with as many "actresses", "dancers" and "models" as you can find. Until then you're going to have to sell a lot of the following -- Aguila: Here I thought Corona was a worthless beer. The Barranquillan brew boasts 4% alcohol and tastes like you mixed a Michelob-Ultra with Perrier. If someone offers you this, do them a favor and buy them a beer...they've obviously never had one. Panela con Limón: watered down molasses, flavored with lime juice. I know that description sucks, how about...limeade heavily sweetened with brown sugar. Empanadas: you want the good news or the bad news first? Fine optimist, the beef/potato version was the finest example of an empanadita I've ever had. Chicharron (pork rind) was crispy skin up top and melty fat on the bottom. Complaints: steak was underseasoned and overcooked and the chorizo was exceptionally fatty. Plus there was so much rice being thrown around, I thought I was at a wedding. All for $25, including tax + tip. Not too shabby, but the ambiance can be distracting. They were showing the Copa America Soccer Tournament at ear drum bursting volume for the middle-aged male fans during breakfast. If I wanted to watch grown men running around being theatrical, I'd go watch a musical at the Adrienne Arsht Center. I certainly wouldn't watch "the game" at a restaurant. I had pounding headache and just couldn't relax in that atmosphere. Just as my meal arrived, so did a walk of shame fashion show. Apparently the surgeons in South America make their implants feel so lifelike by using fat donated from your own brain. Had I walked over to their table I would've have been standing in the area of the most breast implants per capita in the world.....! Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, since I don't believe there is such a thing as "fake" breasts. Yes it's barren and can attract some sketchy clientele, but I don't go to Colombian restaurants to be impressed by crisp white linens and chit-chat with the patrons. I was greeted as I came in and I was told to seat on any empty table, a few minutes later my order was taken and it was simple a classic dish.. o ok me of my favorites "bandeja paisa" and a Colombiana soda to drink.... 25 minutes later no drink no food, I'm like this must be a joke since the server just kept walking around trying to get everyone a little service but not me for some reason, then 5 minutes later I see a customer that came almost 10 minutes after me and in front of him , there's a bandeja paisa and he's soda that he's been enjoying after 2 minutes that he sat down, I simply got up and told them to cancel my order .... read more

Arepa is good but thicker than I am used to the ones I have eaten in Rhode Island. Great cup of local authentic coffee. Empanadas are moist and fresh as well as flavors of seasons. read more

Congrats to Ajiacos on creating the most unseasoned and driest pollo a la plancha in all of South Florida. Nothing about this experience was great, not even good. I am korean but had a fair share of visits to colombian restaurants. My favorite dishes are tamales. I am not too into bandeja paisa. I saw a picture of sancocho on the menu and oredered it. It is a bowl of beef soup. It is a good hangover dish. It had two good size bones with beef. I enjoyed it. I had their coffee with milk. It wad also very good. Come and try. read more

Ajiacos is a little hole in the wall Colombian restaurant that has pretty bomb pan de bono. I come here every morning just to get their breakfast special that includes eggs any style, tostadas and a cafe con leche all for just $3.50. I've also tried their Colombian empanadas (corn tortilla dough, potato and carne,) which are delicious as well. The guy that works there is really nice and always has my order ready when I get there. I've never had any of their main dishes, but I'm sure everything is pretty good. read more

We came for lunch. The chicken soup (sancocho de gallina) was huge and the best I've had in a long time. It is a nice atmosphere, family oriented. Prices are reasonable, the only thing to be aware is that they already include a 15% service charge in the check. read more

The place was not nice. The ajiaco was not an ajiaco. It tasted like a potato soup with over cooked chicken on it and there were bones inside of the soup. The churrasco was served poorly and it did not taste like a churrasco. Everything was badly presented. It was over priced and the tip was mandatory. The place shouldn't be named Ajiacos at all.
