My Venezuelan friends had been here a couple of times and recommended it for Venezuelan empanadas. So I met them here to try it out. The restaurant has a nice beachy vibe. Casual but with table service. My friends already had their favorites and knew what they wanted. Fabi, the owner, waited on us with a beautiful smile and great energy. I ordered the Criollo: empanada with ground beef, cheese, black beans, and sweet plantains in a crispy, flaky empanada dough. I was planning to eat half, but it was so delicious that I finished the whole thing. We also dipped it into their fabulous garlic aïoli. The empanadas are all made to order so you can customize fillings if you like. It's also super fresh when they bring it to the table. I tried some of the chicha drink. It was delicious. It was like rice pudding in a drink. My friends loved their empanadas as well. This review is specifically for the churros - OMG!! a friend brought churros to our bookclub and they were outstanding. She got them take out an hour before our meeting and they still tasted fresh! Absolutely loved my experience here! They have a cafe-like ambiance but it is slightly toasty in there so leave your jacket in the car lol. As someone who knows minimal Spanish they have some bilingual staff and are super patient. My wife loves empanadas and we wanted to try something new today. This place popped up on her Instagram, so away I went to place an order. Very busy on an early Saturday afternoon, about a 25-minute wait for my to-go order, but it was well worth it and everything is made to order. The packaging is excellent! They have a system wherein each different type of empanada has corresponding dots on the edge and they draw a little picture of it on the inside of the to-go container so you know what each one is before you bite into it. We ordered four different types of empanadas and a golfeado. The empanadas are fried with delightfully crispy edges, absolutely jam-packed full of cheese and other fillings. Both the shredded beef and the ground beef are very flavorful and go nicely with the cheese. The ham and cheese had large slices of salty ham suspended within the cheese. Slightly greasy, but that comes with the territory for fried foods. The golfeado (first time I've tried one) was large and comes with a slice of soft cheese on top and a small container of muscovado sugar syrup - very earthy. My wife wanted me to try this place and when we went, I was pleasantly surprised. The food was very flavorful and the empanadas were perfectly fried. I did not taste any form of oil as an aftertaste. The empanadas have black beans, plantains, and the meat of your choice. We had one with seafood and the other one with shredded beef. I do not like sweet plantains, but I don't know how they did their plantains, but I was a fan. We also had arepa with chicken and avocado, and that was so freshly made. Our server was really nice and knowledgeable about the menu and she just provided really great service. She even recommended getting the lemonade with cane sugar, and I am such a fan of natural juice as well that it hit the spot. I visited Parguito Gourmet and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. I have come here many times. I ordered one item but was brought something completely different. When I pointed it out, the server initially said I would be charged anyway -- even though it wasn't what I ordered. I had to refuse all drinks because the one I originally ordered never came, and I wasn't even offered water. After I pushed back, they didn't charge me for the wrong items, but the service overall was careless and dismissive. To top it off, an 18% gratuity was added to the bill even though we were not a party of 4 or more, and no one mentioned it in advance. On top of that, it was hotter inside the restaurant than it was outside. There was clearly no working A/C, which made the whole visit uncomfortable. Disappointing experience all around. I hope this was just an off day, but I won't be rushing back. read more

Looking for the taste of authentic Venezuelan food I found Parguito which more than a restaurant is an experience. Since you arrive, Fabianna makes you feel at home, you enter the route of memories and nostalgia. Since I left Venezuela I hadn't tried the real empanadas margariteñas, the golfeado del junquito and a güayoyo that you have to smell with your eyes closed before drinking it... anyway, I ate with a wrinkled heart of nostalgia but with the joy of seeing my son eat real food, tasty and with a Venezuelan flavor. I see why they have dubbed themeselves for having "The World's Best Empanadas!" If they don't have the worlds best empanadas, they definitely have the best at YGFM. The empanadas are made to order, so if you love fresh hot food you would not be disappointed. The breading on the empanada is crispy and delicious. The combination of cheese, plantains, black beans and crispy crust had my taste buds dancing! I'v already stopped by two times times since my initial visit. This is a food truck at a permanent location in West Hollywood. The location has 4 other food trucks/trailers, ice cream stand and a paintball court. The location has a lot of outdoor seating under tiki huts. You can definitely social distance. The staff is friendly and outgoing. The vibe here is like being at a Caribbean food kiosk. I thought the food was excellent, the fish was fresh and believe me I fish, the coleslaw was absolutely divine and the fried giant empanadas were amazing. The staff was friendly and courteous and the service relatively quick. Why did I give it 3 stars, I'll tell you. Flies, big nasty giant flies literally everywhere. They were all over the food the tables, the counters, it was extremely noticeable and annoying. Also, it's incredibly hot, there are a couple of fans but other than that it's very muggy and humid. Also the tables were not clean, we cleaned our table and I saw other guest cleaning their tables as well.
