It was a dark dreary night and I was playing "Dodge the Orange Construction Barrels" when all of the sudden BLAM! I smacked my left front tire into one of Lauderdale's notoriously unmarked median curbs and hit it hard enough to blow the tire. What to do? It's dark, no street lights, I'm in an unsavory section of the city and of course sexually vulnerable....which I am most of the time anyway. Feeling bad about the whole thing I decided to hobble away on my flat to a safer location. But to my delight as I was pulling away another car hit the same damn curb not only blowing a tire but breaking a tie rod. Yes, I know I'm not supposed to take delight in the suffering of another, but it really did make me happy to know that I wasn't the only one to hit that damnable curb. So with tire flopping I made it to the parking lot of a Home Depot where I gave AAA a phone call. They told me they'd have a wrecker out to me within 45 minutes. However, within 15 minutes this nice looking sparking white wrecker arrived with the nicest most helpful guy ever behind the wheel. Though he was initially going to change my tire, we both soon discovered that my car didn't come with a spare. But no problem, we front end lifted it for towing by the wrecker which I hopped into for the ride. I mentioned to the driver that as my tires were well worn I was going to get four new ones. That being the case, he very helpfully took my car directly to Tire Choice where we left it off and then drove me to my home. The driver of this tow truck just couldn't have been more helpful, friendly and polite or more knowledgeable about what he was doing. The services I received were not only exceptional but totally outstanding.

The company involved is Affordable Battery Inc. in Fort Lauderdale. I was charged approximately $245 for a battery, then another $70 for installation. Now I am being told I need to pay another $100 to reset my BMW's computer after the battery installation. My total cost is now approaching $500, and I'm also dealing with electrical problems that appeared after the battery was replaced, including issues with my lights and other electrical functions. What concerns me most is that I don't know whether my original battery actually needed to be replaced in the first place. I relied on the technician's assessment because I expected professional and trustworthy service through AAA. If a battery replacement causes problems that weren't there before the service, why should the customer have to keep paying additional charges to correct them? I am requesting an itemized explanation of every charge, documentation of the battery testing that justified the replacement, and an explanation of what was done to my BMW during installation. I'm sharing my experience because AAA members deserve transparency about who is being dispatched to their vehicles and what additional charges they may be asked to pay. AAA -- I need you to address this. Affordable Battery Inc. -- I need an explanation and resolution. I'm keeping all receipts, payment records, communications, and documentation of the vehicle's condition before and after the service. One interesting thing I found: public reviews for this business include other complaints about battery pricing, disputed battery testing/replacement, and post-installation issues, although there are also many positive reviews. So your strongest approach is to document exactly what happened to your car and exactly what you were charged, rather than making a blanket accusation.

I'm also not one to typically leave a bad review but I'm hoping my situation can inform others of what they could experience when dealing with Nexcar. I purchased a vehicle from Nexcar and was able to pick it up on April 1st. I received a call the day before informing that the rear door sensor was faulty and that they wanted to fix it before I picked up. I had no issue with that and thought that was great customer service and appreciated the transparency. The seatbelt buckle was also missing the plastic casing. I was told that would be fixed as well. When I went to pick up the vehicle the seatbelt buckle was not fixed and was told I could call back and schedule a day to get it fixed (again no problem). When I was almost home (I'm about 45 mins away) the rear door sensor came back on, the one they said they fixed. I reached out to the sales person who I had dealt with from the start and he said to bring it by but I explained I wanted to come back when the belt buckle came in so my commute was more efficient. He said no problem and he would let me know when the part comes in. About a week later, no follow up was returned from Nexcar. I reached back out and the same story of "let me follow up" was made. Another week went by....no update from Nexcar. Followed up once more and again nothing. A few more days go by and he informed by the sales person that he was out of the country and that he was sorry for the delay and that he no longer works at Nexcar. He gave me the number to the mechanic and I reached out to him. No answer, so I texted him my situation and got no response. I then reach out to Nexcar's general number to see if someone else can assist. I finally get a hold of someone and he told me that before I bring the vehicle in that he would gather some information from his peers, look over the schedule, and would get back to me in a few hours. 2 days went by and nothing. So, again, I'm reaching back out to Nexcar and got a hold of someone completely new. Had to explain to them basically everything I mentioned above only for him to tell me to reach out to the mechanic ( yea, the one I mentioned early who never responded to me). I called the mechanic, left a voicemail, to then get a return text asking for a picture of the VIN. I sent a picture and got no response. Today's date is May 10th. Over a month of Nexcar just ghosting me. Extremely poor customer service on their end and in my opinion, they are purposefully not getting back to me. There is no way a business "just forgets" to get back to someone. No follow up from anyone. This makes me wonder what else is wrong with the vehicle. Super sketchy. Don't buy from them.

I found this shop via a facebook ad -- and read the reviews on Yelp which were mostly 4-5 stars. I…read morebrought in my SUV for a possible throttle body problem that another shop couldn't repair. (Vehicle wouldn't drive over 10mph due to its' engine design) I also chose them because they offered free towing. I explained my problem on the phone and they said they'd do a diagnosis of their own. So had them come pick up my SUV. It took them a few days to figure it out, and they eventually they discovered it was the transmission not being able to go into 4th gear and confirmed that it was not my throttle body. Now, I needed my transmission rebuilt!! Since they had me up on the rack already and the car wouldn't drive, I didn't want to be without a vehicle for emergency reasons, so I agreed to their repair quote. (Seemingly way over priced @$99/hr labor charges). That took about a week to fix, and to their credit they even discovered that in the process of fixing it another transmission problem happened while they were repairing it and fixed that under their warranty. Much appreciated. While they had the vehicle I inquired about fixing a clicking noise from behind my dash dealing with the air flow actuators. They said they could fix it. They figured out what was wrong and got me a price -- a few hundred, but not bad considering, so I approved the additional costs. Here's how they lost 4 stars and any future business. When I came to pickup my SUV -- I noticed that the dash was damaged and had a long crack in it and a piece was chipped off. This was obviously from their attempts to diagnose and fix the air flow issue. The dash had clear signs of recent damage due to being forced or something stressing the plastic such as pressure from trying to pry off the trim, leaning or dropping something on it. When I asked them about it (Mike, owner or manager, not sure) - they said that they didn't break it and tried to explain where they actually did the work, which was in the driver's leg area. I assured them that it was not broken when the took possession of the vehicle. They refused to take ANY responsibility!!! When I pushed if they could get a replacement part they refused. Mike said they'll install the part for me for free if I found the part. They wouldn't even consider reimbursing me for the part. WTF sort of Bull Sh*t is that? So, if they accidentally punctured my gas tank would that would be my problem too??? NO! I bet they would fix it on their own and chalk that up to cost of doing business. Subsequently -- when I got home and researched how to remove this trim part - found out that it's a very easy process to remove it. It was obvious that they had NO CLUE on how to remove the trim to access behind the dash, and probably didn't even attempt to look it up online. I also discovered that a 2nd piece of trim was also damaged in attempting to make the quested repair. The worst and most insulting unprofessional part of all this is that they didn't even have the balls to let me know this happened in advance. What did they think - I wouldn't see a crack on my dash that I drive daily?? So Mike -- what do you have to say about this? It will be a cold day in hell before I use them again. I suggest you stay away too.
