We just moved here from Michigan and in order for my husband to give me a piece of mind he agreed to at least get a quote for a home standby generator. My husband done the research on what brand would be best . He came up with Generac and Kohler. He called Generac and they set him up 2 appointments with 2 different Generac dealers. He went online and tried to set up an appointment with Kohler since no one would return his calls, that too was to no avail. The same day AJ's Generators called and set up an appointment with my husband and I for the following day. Adam showed up a little early, which we didn't mind. Upon his arrival we seen multiple stickers on his truck, one of which was a Kohler one, when we inquired about it , he said he used to be an authorized dealer for them as well. My husband asked if he would give us a quote for Generac and Kohler, which he said he would. We were thoroughly impressed with Adam. He answered all of our questions and even ones we didn't think of. He explained why the places we wanted to put the generate would exceed the budget we planned for the job. He gave us 2 quotes that even by mail. We called the other company and asked for them to come out. They agreed. Bad thing is, within a week they canceled twice. No thank you. Adam called us 6 days later to see if we received the quote and if we had any questions ? We were so pleased with him and his follow up that we asked when can we start the job ? He said immediately since he had the generator in stock. He came over the next day for a deposit of 5500 for the generator ats and permits. From beginning to end the job took 2 weeks, even though he said inspection may take up to 2 weeks. Adam asked if we were happy with his services, and we said we were. My business partner and I, met Adam Johnson when he was managing rental Properties for investors like ourselves about 6 years ago. He always had good communication with us and weather he was repairing something for one of our rentals or restaurants he was always professional and performed great work. Within the last 2 years AJ's Generators has installed 6 generators for us, this last one, was at my primary residence. I am completely satisfied with the work performed and the price. I recently read the other Yelp reviews, and I asked Adam about the 2 negative reviews he has, and he told me that they were partially true. Les, he said he had him write over 15 different quotes and after they agreed to the right one, les got mad and wanted out of the contract that he signed and wanted his deposit back. Adam said he agreed to give him his money back but he wanted compensated for all the research and time he put into all the quotes the guy wanted, and for John he said that was 99 % true except he did pay the electrician and that electrician was trying to get double paid. As a business owner myself I know customers and their happiness are vital to a growing business, but the majority of customers are a better voice for a business review than just a couple of negative voices. Listen to the majority who have expressed their satisfaction with any company. We've spent more than a hundred thousand with this company and would recommend them to anyone who is looking to have a home standby generator installed or just maintenance on their current unit. Once again, AJ's Generators came through in a pinch. The coldest night of the year (so far), our power goes out and the generator turns on as it should, but for some reason, it didn't transfer power into our house. I could hear the generator running, but no power. Its 12:30 am, and I'm hesitant to call Adam, but he said "It don't matter what time of day, if you have a problem, call me, we'll get someone out to you." So, I call him and explain the situation. He said give me an hour, I'm heading your way. 40 Minutes later, Adam shows up, and says I think I know what the problem is. He goes to the Automatic Transfer Switch pulls out a fuse and tests it. He says, nope, that's not it. Mind you, its freezing out, he tells me to give him 15 minutes, go inside so I can stay warm, and he'll get with me when he has it figured out. 10 Minutes later, the power comes on inside the house. Another 10 minutes pass and Adam is still outside. I go to check on him, and now he is inside the generator. I ask if everything is ok ? After a little joke, he said yea, everything is fine, I just wanted to check everything while I'm here. After hours billing applied this time, but we were more than pleased to pay it. My Generac went out 24 hours after losing power as a result of hurricane Matthew. I looked at it and found that oil had been blown everywhere, so I called the two local companies that I know do service on these units around 9:00am, Saturday. Both said I would be called as soon as they could get in touch with a tech. I then (thank God) found AJ's listing and placed a call. Due to cell service being sporadic, at best, we played phone tag. I then left a message and asked AJ's to text me, as that was the best way to communicate. The GREAT tech at AJ's gave me a couple of things to look for and I found the problem. A trip to the auto parts store and an hour later I had the thing working. My family, including my 94 year old mother-in-law we're very happy. I can't say enough good things about AJ's!!! Everyone in our area was impacted by this hurricane and for AJ's to take the time to assist a total stranger says a great deal about the company and the people who own it and work there. The same day with his phone ringing off the hook, delivered a brand new unit to my home. He also provided an electrician to work with my general contractor to get it installed the DAY OF THE STORM.
