Wow. This place is so underrated. The inside of the restaurant doesn't reflect the food. The restaurant was a little gloomy inside and small but man was the food good. The chips and salsa was amazing and I ordered the Street Asada Tacos. That was probably the best steak I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant. It was a char boiled steak and was packed with flavor. I'm beyond devastated to have to write this update. We ate here no less than once a week for years when they were 1st opened. They were gone for a while, then reopened. The service stinks. The food is inedible. The place is loud, playing rap in Spanish that skips. You can't talk to your table due to the noise. The 1st time we revisited, I didn't feel well, but blamed it on it being 90+ outside. We decided to try it again a few weeks ago. The beef was greasy and sooooooooooooo salty. I couldn't finish my combo and left everything on the table. About 20min after we left to go to Safeway, I started getting nauseous. Had to run to the restroom and I'm not going to tell you how it ended. I'm very sad. We won't be back. read more

This is a brand new causal Mexican eatery in this area. There was another location of theirs I kept wanting to try but never made it over there. Sadly that other one shut down. I was so excited to see this one as I was in this shopping area for other errands. Parking was a breeze in this huge lot. Walked right in and was greeted and seated immediately. Party of 4, drink orders taken immediately. The chips and salsa brought were delicious, chips were hot and fresh. The food was so good. Prices could be slightly lower. No cocktails this time around. Absolutely wonderful! Our family started to come here about a week ago, and we are back again. They have wonderful service, and the food is amazing. They were also able to accommodate my dietary needs. Obviously this is not a 5 star restaurant esthetically and yes they play Mexican music, but not loud. Highly recommend. read more

A mid day break for lunch found us at Ajuua Mexican. The atmosphere is casual and at lunch time fairly quiet. There is ample parking right near the restaurant as well. The vibe is friendly and our waiter seated us shortly after arrival. The chips and salsa are filling... the salsa was tasty, we asked for more. It was half off apps day and chose their guac dip which comes on a fried tortilla bowl with lettuce and chips. Delicious! Drinks were also half off... but we didnt partake as we were still working. There are about 6 lunch options and ample vegetarian choices. We both chose the crispy chili relleno... mine with vegetarian black beans and my friend chose Colorado Chili. The dishes were typical Mexican style dishes. The only cons... it was clear that the Chili Relleno was refried... It came out darker and harder... but was crispy for sure! Thankfully it did not taste burnt. And, I had asked for vegetarian black beans... my dish came out with their non-veg refried beans. Rather than give me a new dish, the waitress just brought out a small bowl of black beans. It just made it harder to enjoy the whole dish. I ended up taking most of it home. We're lucky in Colorado. For those who love Mexican food, we have all the choices and many fine restaurants. Standing a surprising head and shoulders above the normal fare, though, is Ajuua. Relocated in a hard to see but easy to love location in Centennial, this place just gets better and better. Today I had a cheese quesadilla appetizer, followed by the Carnitas Street Tacos. The quesadilla was hot, well grilled and very cheesy. It had a buttery taste that was enhanced by the lovely house salsa and a splash of Tapatio... trust me... yummy. The street tacos come 4 to an order, you're not able to mix fillings, but, trust me again, once you taste the pork carnitas you won't want to, nor will you ever crave "regular" gringo style tacos ever again! The food is only matched by the service. My new "menu advisor" Aranza, is a superb server, with a great attitude. She has real pride in the food and drinks she serves, and it shows. This place is epic, and as I said, only getting better as they settle in to their new digs! Highly recommended. read more

Haven't been there since they came back. Went to Taco Tuesday. Four other tables seated. Took a good five minutes for someone to come by. We order just two each. Took 15 more minutes before they arrived. My beef taco was so salty I couldn't eat it. I asked for a chicken taco to replace and had it in about 5 minutes. The menu has two separate prices one for cash one for card. Who does that? Probably won't be back for a while. read more

This was our first visit since their relocation to the Saddle Rock location. Arrived shortly after 11:00 for an early lunch, got reacquainted with our favorite hostess/server from the former Iliff Ave location in Aurora. Today was Taco Tuesday, so we enjoyed our favorite taco choices from the past. Crunchy corn tacos with Chile Colorado and Pork with green chili. The wife chose some as soft tacos. They have several other flavor choices as well, and these choices you do not typically find offered for Taco Tuesday's at other establishments. Complimentary chips and salsa included as well. First order includes rice and beans and afterwards just your tacos of choice. Also ordered the Casablanca margarita which is one of my favorites that they make. Everything served was excellent as we remembered in the past. They also have daily Mon. - Fri. specials such as endless Enchiladas on Thursday, see their web site for the listings. This location is somewhat smaller than the previous but the decor was still very good and tables nicely spaced. We will certainly be returning. read more

I can go to McDonalds and feed family of 15 less than how much they charged for 2 people.... Went today for lunch as our neighborhood reviews were excellent. So disappointing. The food was honestly some of the worst Mexican food I've ever had (and I've had a lot!) My order came out wrong (beef vs chicken) but I could not tell because it had no flavor. The chimichanga was drenched in green liquid, no cheese and the chicken (I got a replacement chimichanga) had no flavor. The salsa was tasteless and watered down. The food didn't make us super happy, didn't leave us sad either, Ah-okay kind. They serve complimentary chips and salsa. We ordered veggie fajitas and a burrito (veggie fajitas, smothered in vegetarian green chili) The portions were quite huge. The fajitas come with a plate of rice, beans, guacamole and sour cream. Would love more depth of flavor in fajitas and the vegetarian green chili though. For dessert, we had flan which was quite good. We went in for lunch on a Saturday and they were quite busy. Most of the tables were taken by the time we left the place but the service was still good. There were just 2-3 servers but they were quite efficient in taking care of everyone. My family has gone to Ajuua a couple of times now and will never go back. Server was not good, she spent most of her time taking our order looking out the window. When our food came out, of course it was not correct. Salsa was nothing but water and had no flavor. My taco had only meat no cheese and the cheese in my enchilada was cold. Ajuua is a great authentic Mexican restaurant w/o all the yuppie flare that many Denverites expect from pseudo-Mexican places like Hacienda Colorado. "Mexican food with altitude." Give me a break. This is a local chain, which I always appreciate, and they have a HUGE menu, which they regularly update. There really is something for everyone here. Their regular size margarita is 18 oz. - plenty for me. While this location is much smaller than others in the Denver area, it's usually not too hard to get a seat. Service in generally good, however, sometimes speed and communication are a little lacking. The chips and salsa are consistently good (always a good gauge of a Mexican restaurant), and the rice is yummy. For something a little closer to authentic, give this one a try. read more

I used to eat at their location that used to be on Hampden and Tamarac 10 years ago. My first order in recent time came through delivery. The food was tasty, and the shrimp tacos really fit the bill. I will say, they are far enough from us, that the food was not piping hot. This was find given the fact that I ordered shrimp tacos. While looking at schools for our toddler, my husband and I were near by at dinner time. We decided to stop in and get some food. The prices are pretty fair. My husband got a beef burrito, my son a bean and cheese, and I got enchiladas. All enjoyed their piping hot meal. It was all well seasoned. The chips and salsa were abundant, and the salsa was addicting. The staff was very nice and personable. The location had typical decor. This was our first visit to this restaurant and will be the last. Our server was just rude and didn't appear to even be trying to be pleasant. We went on a quiet and rainy Tuesday afternoon. There were 2 other tables and 1 person at the bar. When my husband asked if there were any happy hour specials we got an "uhh...no." weird. I was not offered a refill on my iced tea and had to ask for ice in it to begin with. My husband got a refill on his soda, though. It was 14.00 for a chicken chimichanga that didn't have much chicken. My husband's combo plate was "okay ," he said. The food wasn't really bad, but not really good either. Our server's poor attitude and lack of attention were a deal breaker. The other couple dining there were trying to be really friendly and she wasn't having it! It was depressing! We heard them talking about the poor service when they were leaving. For a casual Mexican restaurant the prices are just too high as well. Go to Casa Vallarta or Casa Gutierrez if you are in Aurora and skip Ajuua. read more

First time at this restaurant. POSITIVES: Chips and Salsa were great. Food was flavorful. Prices were adequate. Portions we good size. NEGATIVES: The host had no personality and when we asked if they had any toothpicks, his response was "Nah". They weren't great about keeping the drinks filled and the place is a little too dark inside. Just a few things they could fix and they would be packed out, especially on a Friday night. I am definitely a fan of Ajuua! The menu is extensive and the selections are more authentic than your chain Mexican restaurants (i.e. On the Border). The wait staff is friendly, the prices are reasonable and the food is delicious. I love the Tacos Del Carbon - they are my faves. The 4 corn tortillas with steak, cilantro, onions and a green chile salsa is a simple dish with some heat! It is sort of their version of street tacos. Even my husband, who tends to get the same thing everywhere he goes (ground beef burrito with green chile), is a fan! Big portions and yummy food make it a place we keep going back too! read more

Was pleasantly surprised by this little hole in the wall. It is a bit pricier than The Rock or On The Border, but in my opinion the food is better, more authentic, and the Staff is 10X better. I finally checked this place, and I will not be returning! First off the service is S...L...O...W!!! We were there for a total of a hour and a half. Our server kept walking by our table avoiding eye contact with us. I thought maybe it was just our server, but then realized the table by us that had been sitting there before we were seated had not been waited on yet either. When our server brought out our drinks I noticed that my glass was not clean. I had to ask for another one, and when our appetizer came out the plates he sat down were also dirty. SERIOUSLY?!?! The food was bland and nothing special. I have had better food from taco bell. Their prices are over priced for what you get. Definitely not worth the bill.
