Rich was great to work with over almost a year of training. He was always gentle with our dog but also extremely precise in what was expected of him. Our dog (and mostly us!) learned to communicate in a clear way, with no ambiguity. Our relationship with our dog has improved greatly because we now understand how to "parent" him and that most of the failures are actually ours, not his. Rich was very patient despite us being very slow learners, and just consistently reinforced his techniques over and over until we finally started to get it. He even worked with my oldest kids so they could be consistent with our dog too. His technique seems so simple and apparent now but it's not initially intuitive because it's so foreign to most dog owners. Once my girlfriend and I realized how intensely leash-reactive (lunging, barking at other dogs while on leash) our Border Collie/Shepherd/Husky mix was after we took him home from the rescue, we quickly realized that we needed to find a professional trainer in the area. It's hard to put into words how grateful we are to have found Rich. My dad adopted Alfie from a rescue and we fell in love with him instantly.
