We've been with Canine Corral for over 3 years now. We adopted a pup over the pandemic and had issues finding a suitable place for daycare and the occasional boarding. Other places that we tried weren't successful in addressing our pup's anxiety and social issues. I'm so glad that we discovered Canine Corral. The staff there are well trained and they have good processes to keep things running smoothly. Our pup gets excited as we drive into the parking lot and she greets the staff with fast tail wags and licking! Those are positive behaviors that are so apparent and cannot be denied. This review is long overdue. We adopted a 2yo pit bull in February 2020 from a shelter. Then, as you know, Covid hit the very next month. Our boy had been found wondering the streets of SJ. With my wife and I, he was the Biggest love bug. So cute, and funny, and cuddly. But we can only imagine the terrible experiences he had endured. He had a scar atop his head and was very nervous around new people, which led to behavior like growling and snapping at times. His fear was only made worse by social distancing and not being around new people. Once Covid settled a bit we sought out a trainer for him. I'll never forget the first days Dawna and Megan came to the house. Our pup growled and was very displeased that these strangers were in his space, and worse, trying to interact with him. They weren't a bit deterred, which I was impressed by but I remained skeptical. Fast forward something like 2 weeks: Megan was his Absolute best friend. Dawna interacted with him with ease on training days and he loved receiving love and pets from her. We couldn't believe it. He joined the Canine Corral doggy daycare and just blossomed. He Loved his new doggy friends and the daycare staff. Every time we would pick him up Megan would rave about his behavior and his new friends and how much fun he had. And I already knew because I watched him on camera constantly. We flew home for Christmas once and he stayed at Canine Corral. We were able to travel worry free because we knew he was at his happy place. Dawna, Megan, and the staff gave him a place to be goofy and have fun and receive all the loves. Dawna taught us how to train him and he was able to meet all kinds of new people and doggy friends on our outings. We are forever grateful. We only had 2 years with him. Cancer. I knew I would get emotional writing this review, which is why it has taken so long. Dawna and Megan changed our lives. We will be forever thankful for them. We've been bringing our dog Abby, a black lab/Australian shepherd mix, to Canine Corral since she was just a puppy (she's 14 years old now)! Over all these years, we've never once hesitated to trust the team with her care. Abby started out as a very high-energy dog, and even now, as she's mellowed with age, she can still be a little reactive or lunge at other dogs. Despite that, the staff has always handled her with patience, confidence, and genuine kindness. Abby has stayed for many multi-day boarding visits, and we've always felt completely comfortable knowing she's in such capable hands. In fact, whenever we arrive, she runs straight to the door; there's no better sign that she's happy to be there. We've never had a single issue, only positive experiences. Canine Corral is an absolutely phenomenal place! We discovered it 2 years ago when adopting a puppy, and brought her here for the weekend training classes with Dawna. I was amazed at how knowledgeable, skilled, and helpful Dawna was during each class, and gained a lot from those experiences. I was happy to see that they also do daycare and boarding. We have taken our dog a few times to the daycare and boarding, and have always had an excellent experience. Our dog, who is normally shy, wags her tail with excitement when we bring here here and she sees the workers. The workers greet her by name, truly care about her, and have made every experience positive. When we pick her up and ask how she did, they are happy to provide updates. As first-time dog owners, we brought our puppy to Happy Tails to You weekend trainings in 2021 and were extremely satisfied with the experience. The trainer (Dawna) was patient and super knowledgeable, helping us to feel much more confident in our ability to train our puppy. In the time since then, we have brought our dog to Canine Corral for boarding on several occasions and have always been impressed with the care and attention she has received. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and although our dog is shy, she is always happy to see them whenever we drop her off, which is a great sign! Recently, Canine Corral implemented a new policy requiring dogs to attend daycare at least once a month in order to be eligible for boarding. Four big paws up for the crew at Canine Corral! The process of evaluating a dog for boarding might be a bit costly and tedious, but i seriously couldn't imagine any other process to prepare for a long term care for a dog. I was thrilled that they wanted to make sure he was a good fit and a good boy. On top of their general process, our old man was disabled. Due to a spinal degeneration he no longer has use of his back legs and utilizes a wheel chair and sling to help get around. I'm so grateful it all worked out and allowed my husband and I to enjoy an international trip with no worries. My only criticism is the lack of outside space. Our boxer just wasn't used to using concrete to dispose of his waste so i think that threw him off. But i still absolutely feel that they deserve five stars. read more

Our Tessa is a rescue with a history of abuse, so she can get very nervous and stressed around unfamiliar situations. However, she has a blast at Canine Corral! We did training here before we started using them for daycare/boarding, which really helped with both her familiarity with the location and the staff getting to know her ahead of time. She does gaslight us by acting sad and miserable when we drop her off, but we know it's an act: we love watching her on the webcams sucking up to the employees, getting lavished with attention, and romping around with her dog-friends. A year ago our family adopted a 10 year old chihuahua with anxiety, leash aggression and food guarding tendencies. We take her to Canine Corral occasionally for doggie daycare, and we've boarded her three times here for family trips. She whimpers when she sees we are at the vet, but she is fine with Canine Corral. With this dog, that is high praise. The staff is great with the dogs and they are nice to people too. We particularly love that Canine Corral posts videos from play time and has live web cams so we can see our girl getting along with the other guests. My wife tells me that Canine Corral's capacity tops out at 74 dogs. Their pricing is generally reasonable but the cost does add up, as one would expect in this area. The facility is on the older side, a bit smelly and not exactly luxurious, but I don't think our chi cares- at least she hasn't said anything about it. read more

They have provided daycare (and boarding when needed) to help get our rescues more socialized with other dogs and people. I am presently representing a dog that has some issues and Canine Corral has been working with him on a once/weekly basis until he is adopted. While it is clear on the website that the dogs are created some of the time for cleaning purposes, it was not clear until we got there that our dogs would literally be crated for the first two hours and would be crated for a good chunk of the day. Now if we're going to just leave our dogs in a cage somewhere we might as well just leave them at home. The gentleman who was taking us in was definitely friendly but didn't seem to have any kind of connection to dogs whatsoever. He didn't greet the dogs or pet them and he really did not seem to know how to handle a nervous dog. However he was very gentle with her. This was a great place for daycare and weekend boarding but probably not good for lengthy ones. We had to leave our girl there for two weeks while we were out of the country. She came back home with painful, tightly matted fur under her ears and behind her legs. She should have received one or two baths within those two weeks that she stayed there, so I was very sad to see her silky feathery coat in this condition. I know that they aren't groomers, but with the care that they claim to have on their site, I'm surprised that they didn't at least notice or tell us about it when we picked her up. She had to visit her groomer (she just saw him two weeks prior to her stay) to have the matted fur chopped off. The report cards are also useless. They pretty much just photocopy the same sheet noting who ever was in her group with the same "manners" photocopied. Only thing that is personalized is "potty". Not much of a "report" at all. I'm not sure if the quality of care has just gone down hill since. We have used Canine Corral for short term boarding (weekend to a week) which we had no problems with last year. But after this past experience, we've moved on elsewhere for boarding (Rover). With the price hike that they imposed (and now holiday surcharges) at a similar or even cheaper price, a more personable dog sitter would be better. read more

The staff at canine corral were awesome in helping me rescue a 10 month old black lab from the streets. Jet was found not neutered and very thin but after getting vet care , he became a normal puppy - a pup with no training and tons of energy. The only reason we could foster him was because he loved going to daycare here and responded to the training they do while he was there He stayed overnight for 2 nights and attended daycare for about 12 sessions. He is a great dog but like all pups would chew on everything and he did absolutely hate my cats I can't say enough good things about this awesome facility and staff. We have used Canine Corral for over 8 years and are extremely happy with their boarding and training of Becka. Even though we went through puppy training with Becka we didn't continue with training as Becka grew to a healthy 80 lbs. She developed an unhealthy obsession with work and delivery trucks. Her behavior was bad enough we could not take her for walks or a ride in the truck. Just seeing the trucks would result in her going ballistic. Donna worked with us and Becka for over 6 months to get her behavior to the point where walks and rides are enjoyable again. Donna was our last resort. If we had not been successful with the training, we would have had to give Becka up. We understand a new client of Canine Corral saw an employee taking Becka for a walk, or trying to. Becka dug in her heels, layed down and needed to be pulled along. This is not abnormal for us with Becka. We have spoiled her and she can be obstinate. She digs in her paws and lets you know that she doesn't want to go for a walk. At 80 lbs you don't have many options, you have to convince her. We adopted Becka knowing the previous owners said she was untrainable. She is a very strong willed and intelligent dog. She is also a very loyal and loving dog. We love Dawna and her staff. We've been talking our pitbull, King, to Canine Corral for boarding since he was 14 weeks. He is now 1 year old and 100 lbs. He's a rambunctious big boy, but the staff is great with him and give him breaks if he gets out of line. After coming for boarding, we finally decided to invest in training classes. I'm so happy we did. I was really nervous to see how he'd do, but it was well worth the time and investment. I learned so much about my own temperament and behavior I was encouraging without realizing it. King was super anxious his first class (and so was I), but Dawna did a great job of making us feel comfortable. Just recently took my dog, Oreo to doggy daycare for the first time and I have to say, I was really nervous. Oreo is a very shy dog and struggles with making friends, kind of lazy too! Lol He is not aggressive and in fact, very patient but a little skiddish with others dogs. I brought him to daycare in order to help socialize him in a better and safer environment than a dog park. After filling out my survey online with descriptions of the type of dog Oreo was, health etc... I got a call and we scheduled his first visit. I was very well informed about their policies and was completely comfortable leaving him under their supervision. I was kept informed the whole day and was told he did great. I got back a week ago from a ten day vacation. My regular pet sitter had surgery the day I left and wasn't able to stay at our house, so I had to find places for all of my pets to go. I managed to farm out everyone except my naughty puppy, aptly named Bedlam. My older dog had done training here as a pup so I decided to take my puppy here for boarding and playtime. It was neat to get to watch her on webcam while I was gone and see her getting more confident with the other dogs. She came home happy, clean, nice smelling, and TIRED, but for me the best part was that she also came home better trained than when she went in. Before my vacation, I had to put her into the crate and she would sometimes cry or bark. Now, I tell her to kennel up and she gets right in and settles down! She's also somehow magically better housetrained than she was when I dropped her off! I'm hoping my regular pet sitter will be available next time I travel, but if he isn't I know where my puppy will be staying! read more

Conflicted on writing this review, we weren't sure about a lot of factors. Our dog is a handful, very young and energetic and loves to play. We took him here for training and thought it would be an excellent idea to board him here as well so he could continue learning proper doggie etiquette. The first few times seemed...iffy. He acted a little timid or something when he came home but we thought it was just normal. But then he'd be scared to even go inside at drop off. This was a red flag. The last time, he got very sick after staying overnight and we saw his personality was not happy go lucky anymore. He growled at us and was very food protective which we never saw him do previous to coming here. We think something happened with his food/treats and maybe other factors since he was too scared to go inside. We now take him to a new location and he runs right in and is very excited every time we drop him off. He also comes home exhausted which he never did when we boarded him here... I really like the employees. It's like we didn't want to believe our dog may be mistreated because they are really nice. But the contrast between this place and his new day care is night and day. I think maybe for older dogs this place might be okay. But he is still really young and it just wasn't a good fit. I still feel bad that we will never know what happened...now he is back to being happy go lucky with no more food/treat aggression either. read more

Our dog has been coming to Canine Corral and Happy Tails training and absolutely LOVES it!! Dawna, Megan and the team are experts with all things dog. Our girl was shy with other dogs and had a tendency to tug on her leash during walks before attending classes and regular day care play sessions. Our friends recommended Canine Corral when we adopted our dog two years ago and needed a place for him to stay during an upcoming vacation we had planned. Right off the bat, the staff was very friendly and helpful since we are first time dog owners and all of this was new to us. Goku had such a great time during his boarding stay that we now take him at least once a week for daycare. When we drop him off, we always know he's in good hands. We've had some negative experiences at dog parks so we're happy Canine Corral provides a safe and comfortable place to play. He always comes home tired and happy! I was going to give two stars but gave three because most of the staff are friendly , and the owner is very helpful and kind. Plus the hours are great. Now if you wanna know why I stopped using their services keep reading. They crate for half the day. (Which was not good for my newly adopted dog who has separation anxiety.) At the end of our days there she DID NOT want to go. They had to drag her or pick her up to go with them :( With newly adopted dogs they may also experience diarrhea. Which my dog did. She still does sometimes, she has a sensitive tummy. They have a policy that your dog is not allowed there if they have runny poop. I didn't know about this policy. I didn't sign anything and was not told until after the fact. I dropped her off one morning to a staff member with a lil tude. I'm happy to comply with policies, but I have to know them to comply!!!!!!!! FYI I volunteer at the Humane Society...I clean up diarrhea all the time, you get used to it. Difference is they are getting paid! Man up! Second incident, last straw. I was waiting outside to get my dog, while someone was inside picking up hers. My lil Petunia was whining, she has a very unique sound. The customer in a bitchy tone asked the staff member " what is that sound?" Staff member said "It's one of the dogs, she does it all day." Customer "All day? Oh my god." Staff member " Yes, all day. She sounds like a bird haha" Like I said before my dog has anxiety issues so when crated she vocalizes A LOT. I know it is hard to deal with, but hey it's your job. Maybe I'm sensitive, but Petunia is my baby and she was a stray who was probably abandoned. Don't talk ish about my dog, I spent hundreds of dollars there. Hoping to find a place to keep my dog with people who were compassionate bout her special needs with transitioning into a new home. I asked the same staff member if she was showing any improvement with her vocalizing. She said, "No." That was it, she had no positive things to say or tips to give. When I would ask the other staff members they would also say no, but would back it up with positives that happened that day and/or tips. I would recommend this place if your dog is crate trained and doesn't get diarrhea. Also maybe for training with the owner. Like I said most of the staff were ok, and the owner is awesome. I found a place that doesn't crate at all, staff members are always happy to see my dog and have positive feedback about her day. I will never use Canine Corral again, I'm sorry to say. read more

I hate to burst the bubble but I was really disappointed. When I first brought my pit mix here, I got an odd call from the owner on the first day who went at length about the risks with pits. First and foremost, my dog is the sweetest kindest dog. And secondly, my puppy went through training AT THIS FACILITY. So yeah I was offended. I was late picking up my puppy once and they watched her past 6:00 PM which I really appreciate...however, they do charge you $1.00/minute just for them to stay in the crate. The webcam is a nice feature but it's rarely on. I maybe saw my puppy on the webcam for two hours the whole day. Also each time I brought her home, she was covered in drool! I could not for the life of me figure out what she was doing and the staff never really gave me a clear answer. I don't know what I was expecting since this is the first daycare we've tried but this was definitely not what I was looking for. read more

Canine corral is fantastic! We started taking our dog when he was about a year old; he had no social skills and didn't know how to interact with other dogs. They worked with him and built up his confidence and within a month or so he was a social butterfly! He went from scared and anxious when pulling up to the daycare to excited and happy. He's friendly and playful towards other dogs, and we can take him to the park or beach without having to be on edge when other dogs are around. The staff are friendly, professional, and very accommodating. They recently launched their upgraded website where you can do everything online now, super easy! Five stars for the webcam! My dog was POOPED when he came back home -- I usually go running with him and I've never seen him this exhausted from just playing. It's basically a big room and they rotate big and small dogs between the floor and crate. Seems kinda boring to me but I guess this is party-time for dogs. There's always someone supervising the dogs playing. It was my first time taking my dog today and the manager called me within the first hour of dropping him off to let me know he's doing okay -- which was great because I was a really nervous at first. I recommend it -- only because the more dogs there, the more my dog gets to socialize and play. --- edit -- this daycare was telling me that my dog was starting to growl and snap at people. I took him to a trainer to check him out and my trainer says that my dog only does that when he's being threatened or physically abused and recommended I go to another daycare. If i could put no stars i would. YOUR DOG WILL GET SICK! I used to take my dog here all the time, just for daycare. But I had to leave and had no other choice but to use overnight boarding at their place. I left for 4 days and my 80 lb puppy was full of energy and healthy. The day she was supposed to get picked up I get a call and she's sick as "she did not want to eat in the morning" which is unlike her. so they took her to the vet for me and she died the next day!!!! I was so confused and angry and did not want to point fingers as my baby was already gone.....Especially as a vet tech I can understand sometimes things are just unlucky. So i waited till the Necropsy was done. My baby had not only PARVO but BORDETELLA! She was bleeding eternally EVERYWHERE and was oozing out liquid for days!! She was fully vaccinated as i was the one to give her the vaccines, i did my part. I Hope no other dog have gotten sick, but the negligence has shown!!! sadly it was us who had to pay the price. My very high energy bulldog puppy has participated in both day training and group classes with Dawna and her staff. She also attends daycare four to five times weekly and has done a multiple night boarding stay while we were out of town. We could not be happier with the care and training she has received. She was behind with her socialization skills when we brought her home but at Canine Corral she is placed in appropriate play groups and able to continue to improve her social skills under the close watch of employees. In between play time she is very comfortable being crated for needed down time. The webcams allow me to enjoy watching her interact with the other dogs and staff. I can also conveniently add-on a bath or nail trim when needed. My puppy loves going to daycare and happily greets staff at the door and heads right in. She is definitely still a work in progress at just 10 months old, but she is much better behaved at home and listens and responds to commands that she once ignored. She also interacts much more appropriately with her senior Yorkie brother and her cat brothers.
