I'm writing this review absolutely devastated after having to put my 6-year-old Doberman down. From about 8 months old, we dealt with ongoing health issues--severe skin problems and hair loss despite a raw diet and trying every supplement possible. After spending thousands of dollars on tests, bloodwork, medications, and vet visits, we finally learned he had hypothyroidism--something that absolutely should be screened for in Dobermans, as it is hereditary. Even after diagnosis, the medications came with their own side effects, and we were constantly trying to manage and minimize those while keeping him comfortable. Our family went through so much emotionally, on top of watching him struggle physically, and we spent roughly $10,000 in vet bills just trying to help him. A month ago, his hypothyroidism led to a grand mal seizure. Our strong 86-pound dog was reduced to a panicked, shaking, terrified puppy. His medications stopped being effective, and we endured several sleepless nights as his condition worsened. His final night was heartbreaking. He had multiple grand mal seizures--falling, becoming bloodied, foaming at the mouth, urinating uncontrollably, and paddling his feet. We were bent over him, crying, trying to comfort him and tell him he was safe. I am angry and heartbroken over a life cut far too short--something that could have been prevented with more responsible breeding practices. He was the best boy: incredibly smart, loving, and deeply cherished. I only wish I had looked more closely at the negative reviews from other heartbroken owners who also had to say goodbye to their dogs far too early due to negligent breeding. read more

Truly love all his dogs and they are part of the family.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We breed our female that we bought from him 3 years ago and had a very challenging deliver that ended up being a C-section with 11 puppies. Anthony met us at the vet and took mama and all the pups home with him after the C-section. Trouble didn't end there as mama didn't have milk until after the 3rd week. Anthony hand fed 11 puppies 5 times a day and stayed with them 24-7. He offered to just keep them all there until they were ready to go home with other families. He knows the business so well! What the dogs need at all times. Antibiotics? He has it all. He checked the pups several time daily and if they were dehydrated he would give them fluids via shot. I can't say enough about this guy. We did lose one pup at day 3 with a neurological problem but the other 10 strong and healthy. Without his efforts I'm pretty confident we would have lost more. He taught mama how to be a mother so next time we breed she will be ready! Great looking European Dobermans, great facility. I was able to choose from two liters of dobermans and I was lucky to get the exact look I was looking for a dobbie, black and rust color but with darker mask. I have had my doberman for 5 years now and over the 5 years I have had nothing but health issues. From skin issues , to stomach issues , and now cancer in his mouth which is causing him to die a slow death. Over the years I have run into 4 people who have bought a doberman from the doberman ranch and sadly they all had the same story as me. 2 of them had heart issues and died at 5 and 6. 1 person said there dogs heart grew too big and died at 6. And finally a woman who bought her dog from the doberman ranch as a 1 year old and then died a year later. Yes the doberman ranch has the most beautiful dogs in the bay area but it's not worth the heartbreak of loosing your dog at such a young age. All these 5 star reviews are from people who just left with there new puppy but take it from someone who's going through the heart break of loosing a piece of my family avoid this place at all costs. read more

We adopted two puppies from Tony in October. Head and shoulders above other breeders. The ranch is located right in my neighborhood. The entire place pristinely clean. There is a 24 hour on site caretaker there constantly cleaning/feeding etc. It doesn't even smell like dogs live there. The Dogs here seem happy and are VERY well taken care of. Tony is always available even after you bring your puppy home. He answers his phone night and day, and truly cares about the well being of his dogs as well as the puppies he sells. He's very knowledgeable about the breed and along with giving very detailed instructions for puppies he follows up regularly. One of the puppies I bought was born blind. Tony always communicated and kept us up to date about litters we were interested in. We had a couple of FaceTime calls to see the puppies until we chose a puppy with an all black coat. His name is Cain and he's the sweetest boy with an amazing temperament. Tony gave us all the information we needed in order to take our puppy home. My sweet dog, Snoop, died of DCM a month prior to turning 4 years old. DOB 11/21/2018. Sire: ERDAN VITAL SCREEN WS58071901 (01-18) Dam: FILIPOWICZ'S CHLOE WS43451006 (01-16) I called and informed Tony about the cause of death but I doubt he contacted the other buyers of the litter to relay the information. He instead indirectly blamed me for feeding my dog the food he recommended when my dog was purchased (Taste of the Wild). He informed me that shortly after, he learned that feeding non grain food was no longer recommended. Did Tony contact the buyers to provide a feeding update? He did not. He offered to give me a discount if I decided to purchase another dog but I requested a full refund instead. Tony responded with the following: "I'm sorry for your loss . I know it not good for sure . But I don't give a life Loñg guarantee. We have a one year congenital coverage .,Not even written. Just on word . I do not know anyone that does .I have been at this for almost 15 years now . The percentages are very low on deaths like this but they do happen, Nothing any breeder can do it's in the Dobermans genetics. We would never ever go to another breeder! Tony and his dogs are the best. We had never had a family dog before, and after doing extensive research we settled on a Doberman. My husband wanted to get a feel of the breeder before committing so we drove to San Jose from San Luis Obispo and Tony was more than happy to accommodate us. We picked up or 9 week old Doberman puppy yesterday and I am blessed to say our experience was a great one. Tony was very informative and now that we are home he doesn't mind the occasional question. We had a good time being around all his dogs who were very well behaved and awesome to be around. His kennel also shows how much he cares for his dogs as its very clean and organized.
