Was told wait was 25 mins, ended up being almost an hour. We got buzzed in only to find out that we were buzzed in too early so we just stood up front awkwardly for about another 15 mins before actually being seated. Front area is very congested due to space. It was Friday so I figured it would be busy which is why I remained patient although a bit annoyed. We ordered an appetizer sampler which came with three selections and we chose crab rangoon, calamari, and gyoza but I was disappointed with the amount which was two samples of each item. We ordered some sushi and and then two other entrees. For the price range of the entree dishes I thought it was a bit steep. Only good thing of the night for us was the waitress Ashley. She was very friendly, attentive and kept checking on us to make sure we were good even when it was a full night. read more

This sushi bar is located in a small shopping plaza. Which is quite a busy area in town. But plenty of parking. We had amazing service. They were super busy and the food took a little longer to come out. But everything was delicious. Appetizer: Pick 3 plate we chose were 2 small crab cakes, 2 jalapeño blossoms(Jalapeño popper) cut in half, some calamari sticks. It wasn't worth the price. But it was enough to feed 5 people if you want to taste test a bite. I say it's more for 2 people. Also got the seaweed salad. It was so good and flavorful. Entrees: We got 2 steak meals. One was teriyaki and omg!! The flavor of that dish isn't too sweet or overwhelming. The steaks are nice sized thickness, cook perfectly to our taste buds. My steak had the lemon pepper seasoning and it was delicious. I opted for steamed veggies and brown rice.(More like fried rice) Tempura combo: This dish was huge with lots of food. My sister is a huge fan of tempura and this one won her heart. Crunchy roll: it was so creamy from the cream cheese and crunchy. Udon noodle: took too long to come out. Flavors were a bit lacking. Had carrots, chicken, udon noodles. Came with a thin ginger sake tasting sauce. My sister ate it with the teriyaki sauce that was included on the steak. She said it tasted better that way. So try that instead. Dessert: Fried tempura cheesecake. The waiter said it was small. But when we received it, it was pretty big! Lol! It was decorated so pretty and tasted so amazing. Evidently, from the patrons that packed the place during lunch hour suggests that the food is great. It is! I like their Molly Rolls secondary to the Living Water Rolls. Although this place doesn't compare to the sushi restaurants I've been to in different parts of the world, this Oklahoma sushi joint come very close to the most authentic sushi offered elsewhere. This place gets 4 stars. However, on the other hand, their location at Mother Road Market in Tulsa is not worth talking about. I was at the Market with friends and was pleased to see their stall in the building. Understandably so, their variety was slim given that they operate in a very limited space. I ordered a roll and was very disappointed from the dried out sushi rice. Instead of complaining about it, I decided to order from another stall that offered better and fresher food. Recently ate lunch here with a friend and it was my first trip in. (We usually go to Happa.) I love this place! It is serene and relaxing. Upon seating, you are given a lovely scented warm damp towel to wipe your hands with. The lunch special is great---I picked two: the seaweed salad and the Ram Roll. Both were fantastic and the perfect lunch combination. Service was great, too. Before the check, we received chilled orange halves, sectioned and top with a maraschino cherry. May be my favorite sushi place in Owasso (which says a lot because we LOVE Happa. Will definitely have to do a comparison. Maybe it will be a tie.) read more

This is a convenient date place for my husband and I since it's less than 10 minutes away from home. This is our sushi go to place in Owasso. The service is good! The food is good! And we enjoy the large booths when the kids are with us. We have yet to eat anything that we don't like. Even our kids enjoy the place and the food every time! We heard about this place for awhile and I am glad to finally make the trip to give it a visit and it has not disappointed. I think many will agree that this is the only sushi place that's worthy for any serious sushi lover. This sushi place has a decent size and most of them are booths. The walls are graced with Japanese style painting. The ambient is nice and quiet. Our server is attentive and when we want to order some specific items, she would go to the back to ask the chef for availability, which is nice. I must say, their sashimi are all very fresh and in good quality. You know sometimes when you eat a piece of sashimi that looks good but it doesn't have much favor in it. This is not the case here. I am pleasantly surprised such quality is offered in a small town like Owasso. I have a very hard time finding similar quality of sashimi in Tulsa so far. Their Uni Sushi isn't the biggest portion but has a nice taste to it. I say it's average. Their Uni Shooter is a very interesting menu item, it is a bit sour and salty for me. Their huge Spiked Green Tea is on sale that day and it's pretty good as well. So overall, it's a pretty nice experience and I think J will be back when I have another craving for sushi. read more

This is a great place to go if you are looking for good Japanese food and a great service. The first nice surprise here is the illustrated menu that comes with the menu as a non Japanese you may have some difficulty to figure out what each plate really means but with some pictures it makes everything easier. I started with a Philadelphia roll (smoked salmon, avocado and cream cheese) it was amazing and delicious. For my entree I ordered a Chicken Udon Soup that was very good and tasty. Chicken, carrot, mushrooms, broccoli and noodle... yummy! I had no room left for dessert, unfortunately. But with my check the waitress brought me some cold orange slices! Akira Sushi Bar has everything a good sushi place should have. Not only that, they go beyond that to offer even more than what you consider acceptable. I took my mom here since we had been craving sushi for a while. We were greeted by a nice hostess and seated promptly. She gave us menus and the waiter was soon at our table. Akira has certain Japanese traditions not everyone might be familiar with. First of all, the waiter brings hot/wet towels or "oshibori" for you to wipe your hands. It was obvious that this was our first time there and the waiter did a wonderful job filling us in on the happenings here. He explained everything to us and even pointed out his own favorite dishes on the menu. We had green tea, edamame as an appetizer, miso soups, the caterpillar roll and the avocado and philadelphia cheese roll. The food was excellent. All of it. The other tradition Akira partakes in is bringing you cut oranges and cherries after your meal. This was an absolute perfect way to end our meal. Love this place. Out of all the sushi places in Owasso, i would say this one is on the more expensive side. Not that much more expensive but you can definitely tell in the bill. However, i think this place provides the best service. What i like to start off every meal here is with their sake sampler. If i remember correctly, it's $6 for 3 different flavor. You get a good amount for each sample also. There is also nothing better than washing back the sake with an ice cold Sapporo. They have all the rolls, sushi, sashimi, salads, soup and sides that other places have. But what they have here that i have not seen at other sushi places is Blue Fin Tuna. By far, the best sashimi I've had. I think it costs like $10-12 for 3 pieces, but definitely worth it. Everything else that i've tried here has been great. Highly recommend this place. read more
