Searching for a hibachi restaurant in Tulsa or the surrounding area for my son's birthday, I decided to try Ichiban based on the higher Yelp reviews, hoping to have a memorable experience. The hostess and waitress were warm and attentive that set a positive tone, however, it seemed as if the chef rushed through a tired routine that made the experience feel a little awkward for us. The food was more on the bland side which I believe was due to throwing ingredients together and simply mixing versus cooking with a more deliberate technique to allow the flavors to meld (especially with fried rice). They added a nice touch by giving my son an inflatable birthday hat to wear, but that was unfortunately the highlight of the evening. read more

We love the hibachi tables here but that can take some time & had limited time this evening so we sat in the regular dining area. Dane was our server & we will DEFINITELY request to be seated in his area again. He is so helpful & attentive. He checked in on us throughout to make certain we had everything needed. I ordered the scallop hibachi dinner and WOW how much quicker it is than sitting at the hibachi tables (even though it is fun to sit at them). Just stopped by here because someone bought us a nice gift card. It wasn't that busy, either. We requested to get the hibachi service, and though no one was waiting, they told us that we couldn't get in until 6:30 (that's an hour and a half wait). When my wife said, "that wasn't on your website," they basically gave us a run-around about how "yeah, it is not required to have a reservation, but if there are lots of reservations, we don't take walk ins for the hibachi." So...5pm on Saturday is not early enough to walk in to Ichiban. Anyone want to buy a 50 dollar ichiban gift card? We likely won't be using it. read more

We decided last night that we didn't want to cook, didn't want to drive into Tulsa and didn't want to go to a chain restaurant. That doesn't leave you a huge selection in Owasso, but after looking at our choices, we decided to give Ichiban another try! We both ordered the steak hibachi dinner and, after receiving our food, realized next time we should just add an extra salad and split one entree. They give you so much food! The highlights for me were the ginger salad, hibachi vegetables and the hibachi noodles. The salad was crisp and the ginger dressing was even better than most hibachi restaurants. The vegetables had excellent flavor and the noodles were just a surprise to receive with everything else! My husband liked the fried rice a lot as well. We have gotten sushi from Ichiban in the past and while it was good, I think the hibachi is the absolute standout. The last positive of the night was how quickly our food came out. First thing I noticed the door was super hard to open, not sure if it was due to the windy weather. There was a wait for Hibachi, 20 mins not too bad compared to 2 hrs down the street. There was no seating available to wait so hubs and I waited in the car. We went back after 15 mins and the hostess sat us down right away. The server took our drink orders then came back and took down our apps and entrees if we were ready. It was pretty busy for a Weds but Im thinking it was due to the holiday. He brought out the soup and salads and mentioned that the apps were a bit delayed due to the amount of orders from dine in. We didnt mind at all. When the cook came he got to it right away, double checking round the table what everyone ordered and then continued on with the normal show like the tossing of the eggs, the flames, you get it lol. At this point Im just waiting for my food to be cooked so I can eat. Overall the food was good and they had a good menu selection along with sushi options. Food was very good on the hibachi side. My husband had Hibachi Chicken. I had the NY Strip & Scallop Hibachi combo. No complaints & the chef was very skillful. At similar restaurants, the sauces are typically ginger and mustard sauces. They have ginger and something they called Yum Yum sauce. Neither of us liked that but the ginger is great. Overall, the meals were very good. We each had a Long Island Tea. Very well made & quite a strong drink. A+ to the bartender. Later, the hot Saki was very nice. Now, for the negative ... When we arrived, we were seated at a Hibachi table & moments later, we were asked to move and taken to another table in another room apparently simply to fill 2 empty spots. That table had SIX kids & FOUR adults. I was NOT pleased & tried to refuse. We considered leaving but ended up staying. Most of the kids were well-behaved & the youngest "only" SCREAMED for a couple of minutes before the parents shut that down. Next time, we will leave the premises. We don't have kids & when attempting to enjoy a Saturday night out, screaming kids are absolutely never on our wish list. Very disappointing & we won't tolerate it a 2nd time. read more

Rolls anywhere from 6-40 bucks! I love sitting on the sushi side preferably and having a delicious roll with the hubs. The wait staff is great and the vibes are good here!! Tried the sushi for lunch today. It was OK but really not great - we do love sushi so maybe we are just being too picky! I had the regular sushi plate but asked for just tuna and salmon and was informed it would be $5.00 more since I picked the fish I like. We agreed. My husband had the deluxe sushi plate with no restrictions. Well it didn't come out right but the waitress said nothing so I accepted and ate what I could. The rice was undercooked - hard and grainy. All in all I would not go back. There are better sushi restaurants in Owasso for sure. The only place to eat with an open grill and entertainment. The food is your typical selection. And typical taste. They didn't serve salad with the food, which I do like the salad at other places. It's the usual that comes on a California Roll but with lobster & a few other elements added, which makes your regular everyday roll better. Their scallops are incredible. The chef was entertaining & dude must've been in a good mood because he was giving out shots of sake. The prices are very reasonable (especially their lunch menu). Came here with a friend for lunch on Tuesday. I got the sushi lunch special, which was 2 rolls on a specific list for $10(??) or 3 rolls for $13. The special also comes with salad or miso soup. I chose the crunchy roll, the eel roll, and the yellowtail roll. The miso soup was okay. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't amazing. The rolls were also okay. There was a decent fish to rice ratio, which is always good. What I didn't like, though, was how the menu didn't really tell you what was in the rolls. You had to ask the waitress or gamble. On the positive side, the presentation was REALLY pretty. Service was good. Our waitress continually checked on our waters.
