Chicken doner Create Your Own Bowl Meal
Shanel S.

Gaaahhh!! Go and get the best meal. The freshest ingredients and dry witted staff. If they not family by blood, they are by choice. Chicken Doran was amazing and I chose platter because I greedy and want the most toppings you can get! The bread was ok, fries are better and big portions. I'll have to edit later about the Baklava because we were too full to try. This is within a strip mall/shopping center and busy. Wifey got the bowl with less toppings but still just as filling. She has plenty to eat next day, unlike my greed with full round belly and nap immediately following. I'd come back again and again!

I got the beef & lamb shawarma along with the chicken in a salad bowl

Haven't been here in a while and it's still a really great spot. Both the guys working were very friendly and the food was super delicious. I got a wrap with half chicken and half beef/lamb, the meat was so full of flavor and fresh off the spit. Got a side of waffle fries which were cooked fresh to perfection and super soft yet crispy. I love coming here and they deserve the praise

Çok Güzel! Highly recommend, great location, great service. Definitely going back soon! Teşekkürler!

Rice Pudding

My friend and I stopped by for dessert and Akivva had several options in their fridge area. We got the rice pudding to share (I think 5.95 for a sizable amount) which was perfect. It was a bit too sweet for me, but the creaminess was perfect and so was the texture of the rice. I love the generous amount of cinnamon sprinkled on top. They're known for their Mediterranean rice bowls and sandwiches, so I'd have to give this a try when I'm in the area.

Chicken Donner , Beef & Lamb Doner Bowl !!

I don't want to turn this review to Shawarma/Doner/Yeero 101 but the first thing I love about this place is how their Döner is amazing and close to - but not- Shawarma!! Take it from the Egyptian who has been searching on the east coast for the best Döner , Shawarma and Yeero!! This is BY FAR!!! THE BEST!!! EVER !! Döner / Shawarma joint!! The best and only real Turkish fast joint!! They bake everything in house including their bread!! If you know what Lahmaçun " Lahmajun" is they also make it fresh at the restaurant not like the other places!! The Döner is tasty and juicy!! Yummy! You can buy by the pound if you want and take it home!! I eat a pound at the restaurant by myself!! Lol The chicken Döner is the best I've ever tasted in my whole 33 years life!!! They make it very juicy!! You have endless choices!! Platter? Bowl? The only difference is the amount of toppings . Platter is 7 Bowl is 4 Wrap? Yes! Pides ( better than pizza!) Want to try their secret menu?? Yes !! Order Lahmaçun with Adana ( spicy ground ground beef kebab) it rounds about $20 but it's a bomb!! Watch out tho! You have tens of toppings but not all of them go well together or fit with the protein you chose .. it's up to your taste but if you take the Wrap for Döner my strict advice is to be very conservative on your toppings.. I would go with only onions maybe tomato with (beef &lamb), choice of pickles or sauce . Go with Tahini for beef &lamb doner and garlic for chicken doner! For Adana Wrap take only Chopani Salad , onions and Tahini sauce! And you will thank me later ;) For platters & bowls you can do anything with your limited toppings ! I love anything with Eggplant they have on the toppings bar specially the Eggplant Shakshuka! Hear it from me! Wait and you will see this place going so big and have branches everywhere! I already know that they will soon be in Alexandria near Old Town! I only hope they stay family business and don't start to Franchise ! The owners and all workers are very kind and friendly! I love them and love talking to them! I also love saying thank you to them in Turkish " Tashakor-lir" !! Go try them and don't forget to pray for me ;) and vote for my review! Oh I almost forgot! Follow them on Instagram!!

This place was walking distance from our stay in Washington D.C. so we stopped by for lunch after checking out. Akivva is a Mediterranean and Turkish spot that serves bowls (Chipotle style) and pide (pronounced pea-day) which is a Turkish flatbread pizza. I had never had pide before so I was curious to see what I was walking into! We ordered the custom bowl ($12.50) and the meat lovers pide ($13.50). For the bowl you choose your base, protein, and toppings. The bowl was super flavorful and the ingredients were fresh. The garlic cream was super garlicky like others have mentioned here. It was so garlicky I still tasted it in my mouth hours later. The hummus was really good and had a lot of cumin flavor. Our favorite was definitely the pide though. The bread and crust were soft unlike American pizza with a hard crust and bottom. There was a variety of meats like their sujuk smoked sausage and was loaded with cheese. It was very oily and was seeping out onto the tray but it was fantastic and the flavors were delicious. Along with the two dishes we also got complimentary fresh bread. It was so warm and soft and we loved dipping it into the hummus. What we walked into was something delicious. I was thoroughly surprised with everything we ate and the service was great as well. I wish they had more locations around the country and some closer to me. My tip: get the pide!

Akivva Grill in Arlington serves up fresh Mediterranean Turkish food that's delicious and healthy. I got the Signature Falafel Bowl, and it was the best falafel I've ever eaten. My son got a Build Your Own Bowl with Chicken Doner, and he really enjoyed it. We finished our lunch with Turkish Rice Pudding and Trileche. At only $5 each, they're such a steal considering the quality and generous portions. Highly recommend!

Akivva grill is such a hidden gem for Middle Eastern food in the area! It's similar to cava where you can create your own sandwich or bowl, but they also have entrées you can order from. I love how there is such a variety of toppings you can choose from and sauces. I ordered a bowl with spicy lamb kofte, which was super flavorful. The bowl also comes with a piece of bread (which is not your usual pita bread but it's really fluffy!) The staff so friendly as well! If you're overwhelmed by the number of options, you can choose from feel free to ask them for recommendations! It's a fast casual place and there are some tables inside, but they also deliver on DoorDash. I've ordered from here multiple times, and I will continue to come!

Came back for lunch yesterday with a couple of friends. I had the Musakka a la Turk, one friend…read morehad the Vegetable Musakka and the other had the Turkish Omelet. The Musakka dishes are served with a side of rice pilaf and the Omelete with a side of fries. Bottom line - all three of us found the entrees to be bland. In fairness, I have only had Greek Musakka before, but I expected more seasoning and flavor, and my friend (the vegetarian) noted that they didn't get a hint of Bechamel - only mozzarella. I tend to agree the entree was heavy on the mozzarella and light on other flavors. We agreed that the rice was very good, both in texture and mild flavor. The french fries also were very good. The service here continues to be beyond excellent. Really good service. If I could give 3.5 as a score, I would, because the service was exceptional. But this is the second time I was here and both times found the entree to be bland. Maybe that's how Turkish food is - if so, please let me know, but I doubt it. The restaurant, which is very attractive and comfortable inside, has been around for 45 years and has an average Yelp score of 4.2. So obviously, a lot of people like it. I just call it like I see it.

We came across Kazan when searching Turkish restaurants. What we saw on their menu had us wanting…read moreto give them a try. Plus they have a great track record---they've been around for 44 years. They open for dinner on Saturdays at 5 p.m. That's when we arrived and were greeted and seated immediately. We liked their two top tables as they were wide and able to accommodate several items at once without feeling cramped. Our server was prompt getting to us. To drink, we both had ginger ale. For dinner, I had Filet Mignon Shish which consisted of: "charcoal grilled tender chunks of filet mignon skewered with fresh tomatoes, green peppers and onions. Served with rice pilaf and vegetable du jour". My husband had "Lamb Chops Karaman" which consists of: "Mediterranean cut tender lamb chops grilled to your perfection. Served with vegetable du jour and rice pilaf". Meals come with a side salad which is simply prepared. Our server offered to grind some pepper over them and we agreed. Plus two warm pitas along with butter were served. We found the food to be delicious. My filet mignon was served medium rare and was very tender, moist and flavorful. The grilled veggies were tender crisp. The vegetables du jour were nicely flavored and tender. The pilaf was wonderful---moist and flavorful. My husband really enjoyed his lamb chops. There were four on the plate cooked medium. He found them to be tender and flavorful. He, too, enjoyed the vegetables du jour and the pilaf. We saved room for dessert and ordered the "Mixed dessert tray for two". The selection varies each day so if you want to order this, ask your server what is on the plate that day. When we ordered it, there were 2 small pieces of each item. There was Turkish rice pudding, which was quite good and quite different from what one expects. Also, there was some pumpkin that was sweetened and tender. Creme caramel custard was also on the platter. The baklava was the star of the plate. Kazan makes their own which is orange flavored and awesome! The phyllo dough was crispy and light plus drizzled with honey and the orange flavoring came through clearly. My husband also had a Turkish coffee which he ordered medium sweet. I had Turkish tea which came with 5 sugar cubes on the side. The restaurant was very tastefully decorated with Turkish items. Service from start to finish was excellent. We left feeling like we had enough to eat but not so much that we were stuffed. And, yes, we intend to return!

My Little Chamomile has been on our list to try together since it opened last year, and we made a…read morereservation for last Wednesday. Our server recommended some good options for us and was very thorough in making sure there was no cross-contamination with my friend's allergens. TEKMIL FAVA - 14 Incredibly delicious dip that's incredibly dill-forward. The bread that came with it was just OK, but the citrusy and herb combination was addictive. We would definitely recommend it! ZEYTİNYAĞLI ENGİNAR - 24 Not the biggest artichoke fan, but my artichoke-loving friend really enjoyed this. It was soft with the perfect texture, but not my favorite. MERCIMEK ÇORBASI - 14 This red lentil soup had a runnier consistency which was perfect. It came out hot, and topped with buttery bread crumbs that was crunchy and tasty. I love soup and would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good lentil soup. ÇÖP ŞIŞ - 23 The tomato paste/sauce was so fresh and sweet, topped with fresh herbs and lavash (type of flatbread) as the base. Definitely eat this as fresh as possible. Underneath the flatbread were five lamb skewers, which was smoky and flavorful. The combination of the savory lamb and fresh tomatoes was phenomenal. MANTI - 24 These are delicate and small beef dumplings mixed with a creamy yogurt sauce and spices. The dumpling skin was perfectly thin, and the beef was well-seasoned. The sauce was a bit much, but it complements the dumplings well in moderation. KEŞKÜL - 13 The almond pudding was addictive -- not too sweet and slightly nutty, making you want more and more of it. This was definitely our favorite dessert of the night and they were incredibly generous with the amount of almonds they give you! REVANI - 15 A bit dense, sweeter than I'd like -- this is a corn flour cake with some whipped cream and rhubarb jam on the side. Our server said this was one of the "less sweet" dessert options, so the ones we didn't order are probably a lot sweeter. Food was good, and we had a great experience! Nice ambiance, and they were quite packed on a Wednesday evening. They're also on inKind, so we were able to pay with the app and save on our meal.

We had great service from getting seated at our reservation time to getting the check in a timely manner. Our server took the time to walk us through the menu, offering recommendations and answering our questions. We shared several small plates mezze style with fresh pide (bread), all of which were delicious: Enginar Dolmasi: The blossoms were perfectly cooked, the lemon provided great acidity, the onion crunch, and the rice creaminess. Girit Ezmesi: The star dish-rich, creamy, the right amount of salt, tons of delicious cheese, amazing with the pide. Manti: Well-cooked beef dumplings, perfect dough texture, and a delicious yogurt sauce. Taze Bakla: I loved the unique texture of the fava beans, the dill provided great freshness, and the yogurt creaminess. Közlenmiş Patlıcan Salatası: The eggplant was nicely cooked and smoky, with good added flavor from the peppers and garlic. We shared the Tel Kadayif for dessert, which had great crunch, sweetness, and texture. I would highly recommend My Little Chamomile for your next date night or celebratory occasion!
