The only place my dogs will ever go we love AKM Kennels! The owner is so nice anytime we need anything! He gets to you so fast to!

I am really sad that this was our experience with AKM Kennels. This is NOT how you are supposed to pick up your dogs from boarding. I picked up my senior pug with this severe wound two days ago. I paid for the upgraded boarding that had the camera monitoring option and asked that our dog only be with his companion and no other dogs. I had no missed calls, voice mails or emails that my dog was injured under their care. I picked him up like this a day early which is when i found out, right before pick up. They put a stop bleed powder on him to stop the bleeding while I was there. They said they don't know what happened and the incident was not recorded on camera. I took him to the vet here in town and they confirmed it is a puncture wound with significant bruising all around. I chose them because they had amazing reviews online, everywhere. But, this has just been really horrific for us. I'm sure this type of injury hurt my dog. I now have vet bills and meds for my senior pug because of this. I only got an automated email the day after thanking me for choosing them. They have yet to even reach out to ask how he was when we left. I wish I never took my pug here. This was our 2nd time using AKM and was a disaster. We were going out of town for 7 days, so we booked 2 days before our trip, 1 day after to give leeway. We brought their food, bowls, treats & blanket. Our babies were there a total of 10 days & during that time we never received a single update ( apparently you have to pay EXTRA to be given a "all is well" or cute photo ) Our MAIN CONCERN - our dogs were not FED!?!? more about that in a second. When we arrived, a young lady frantically told us our dogs had been split up because they attacked each other ( wow - stressful from the get go ) they've only ever play fought & we were told this was vicious. We listened to the owner explain & asked where to go pay, get their belongings. Everything was brought out & we asked if they got their baths? He said no, who did you ask - we explained the young lady the day we dropped off. He apologized as we showed him the paperwork requested with a bath request. This was the 2nd time we asked for baths before pickup & not done. Ok, more frustrating but whatever - our babies - we're back!! So he comes back out as we are getting our dogs out of a holding pen and in to the car and points his finger at me, so mad he is SHAKING. "You're a LIAR. You are lying to me! You called me on Friday & asked for another day?!?" etc. etc... I was sitting on a beach in Mexico on Friday. I explain that he must be mistaken, that I have never met or talked to him in person, only over email. He continues to call me a liar. I tell him how I don't appreciate being called a liar, that mixups happen, we're just frustrated after being charged $550, they didn't get their baths, no updates etc. & maybe I was mistaken & booked standard not deluxe. He then yells at us to "take our business elsewhere" and walks along side our vehicle while were trying to leave to intimidate us. I did yell back - I did curse at him which I regret. But once we got in the car, then home five minutes later & saw a email in my inbox pointing out that we got a standard, non deluxe which = no updates, I responded kindly and calmly & voiced our concerns & explained how stressful it was picking them up. Food. We were asked to bring their food, bowls, treats. We brought a 8 lb bag of dry, 20 cans of wet and a 8 pack of treats. The dry food was nearly full, so I weighed it - just under 7lbs. 16 cans of wet returned... So what did they feed them??? I asked in my email and voiced my concern that not eating their normal diet can cause digestion issues, if they are hungry = grumpy & more agitated. No response. I also asked why we were charged the $550 if we clearly ( since he emailed a reminder we booked standard ) instead of $350?? Our dogs were NOTICEABLY THIN even to our co-workers who see them everyday.... we will never go back and suggest if you want animal lovers or just responsible people to watch your babies - who would send photos and updates ( included in their fee ) or feed them properly, then don't go to AKM Kennels... read more

We have used AKM kennels for several years now for our senior pup and love them! We drive about 30 mins to use this kennel because they take such great care of our dog. Our dog gets excited when we pull into their driveway! Clean and well designed facility and great value. Thank you Monte! read more

Horrible customer service. the grooming was nice but the customer service is just awful. not sure if it was the owner or some one that works there but this man was just awful to my 70 year old mom. She was told her dog would be done at 11:30 and at 12:30 my mom called asked when she'd be ready because she's not used to being in a kennel that long and the man verbal abused her on the phone. Then when she got there he was waiting and verbally attacked her again not even letting her say a word! I would not recommend this place. For our small town needing these services this is just a shame! read more

I love this place! You can tell the owner takes pride in caring for your pets. The property was immaculate and the kennels were so clean and pet friendly. They had a supervised dog yard to play in and security cameras to monitor them 24/7. I researched other kennels and this one seemed to be the right fit for our pets. Their price was affordable as well. I live in Cedar Park, and YES! The drive was worth it! I would highly recommend all my friends and family to this Kennel. read more

We've been looking for a kennel that would allow our 2 dogs, Aly and Ripley, to sleep together and have space to run and play. We finally found our permanent boarder. Extremely nice staff. Large yard to play. Indoor kennel with outdoor access. And when I asked late for baths and nail clip they accommodated with no hesitation. Lovely place. The staff at AKM Kennels are wonderful! I've brought both of my dogs to stay numerous times. My dogs are challenging to work with, one with extreme energy and one with extreme anxiety. I'm very particular about the people I allow to take care of them. For that reason and I wouldn't take then anywhere else! Beyond their patience and experience working with dogs, the staff are very flexible. I travel frequently and my timelines change. They have always been willing to flex pick/up drop off times, which I sincerely appreciate! They also incredibly affordable! Superior service at low rates. Couldn't be more pleased! read more

I took my Border Collies to AKM Kennels last weekend and I was very pleased. The owner and staff were very professional. My dogs had a great time and came home tired after lots of exercise. The kennels are clean and they are able to play inside and outside. The price is very reasonable compared to the Austin boarding places. We put both dogs in one kennel and they did great. This was the first time I've ever boarded my dog, I must have looked at seven kennels before deciding on AKM. The kennel is not massive so your dog gets more one on one attention, the kennels are air conditioned and offer inside/outside doggie doors so your dog can go in and out of their own enclosure. The outside kennel area is shaded and so is the recreational area, which is nice given the summer heat. My dog came with a lot of baggage so to speak, he takes meds and has his own food routine which the owners did not mind following. I was also able to text the owners each day for an update on how my dog was doing. They offer a nice bath before your dog returns home for a small fee. Overall a great experience! read more

I have taken my bulldog to AKM kennels several times in the last 2 months. We have been very pleased with Monte, he is nice and knowledgeable about my pet and her specific needs. AKM has been there for us even at the last minute. Lola loves her visits and enjoys the playtime. Thanks AKM, we have found our home. read more
