You would not think this is a big deal, however it is a deal breaker for me. I have had other groomers who completely ignored my instructions and my dog received a standard poodle cut. Something has changed with K&A. I feel horrible and disturbed by our recent experience. I have used and loved them for many years, but I feel very sad and angry by what happened during the last two sessions. On 9/30 I emailed asking for an appointment with the groomer we ALWAYS request (I used her name in the subject line and body of the email). They responded only with a date/time (no mention of the groomer). We took him, expecting our groomer. After that session (10/7) we noticed he was groomed poorly, but said nothing because we love our groomer and thought she just had a bad day. When we emailed the next time, and asked again for her, they responded with a date and time (NO mention of her not working there any more). I emailed back and asked to make sure it was indeed our requested person, since the last time did not seem like it was her. That's when I realized I had been blatantly deceived: They told me she had left back in September, and that someone else groomed him last time. They said who it was and that they had let him go. I told them I was upset by their lack of transparency--their deception-- in two different session requests, but that I would give them another try. Bad decision. Today (12/30) I took my frail, old, deaf pup in. His groomer told me she was running a "tad bit behind". Exact quote. I reminded her of all his physical and emotional issues and let her take him. Usually the sessions take 90-120 minutes. At 140 minutes, I called to get an estimated time for pick up. She said she was WAY behind and had not even started him yet. My anxious old dude had be sitting there for 2 hours, waiting! I said, "Never mind, don't do anything with him, I'll be there in 5 minutes to get him, I'm done with you all". When I got there, I could not get anyone's attention to bring him to me, so I started into the back room. I was yelled at to stay out of there. I said: "bring me my dog right now please". They said "he is being bathed". I raised my voice a little, "You told me 5 minutes ago that you hadn't started with him. I told you not to start. Bring him to me now. I do not trust you with him. I told you to leave him be". They said they had to "dry him first". I said "bring him to me wet". They would not, and we went back and forth. They kept refusing. I tried to go in to get him. I was called a trespasser and told I was very rude and to leave the building. I stepped outside, held the door open and continued to say over and over---"bring me my poor old dog or I will ask the police for help". "He is wet", they continued to respond. Desperate and worried, I called 911--they heard me do so. They finally brought me the dog. He was so shook up and so was I. It was terrible. If there was a camera in there (which they say there was), all of this can be verified. Also, I have copies of the emails in which they chose not to disclose that the groomer I asked for was no longer there. read more

Glad I found this place and they do have mobile services. As a smaller business, they do charge a fee for using a credit card which I was unaware of until I review my last emailed receipt in detail. I had read the reviews and was hesitant to take my Pom here. I had a terrible experience with her previous groomer and asked for advice where to take her online. K&A came highly recommended. I called and discussed with them what happened that she I was told she was matted and the only way to groom her was to shave it. She is a Pom and you can't shave a Pom without causing long term damage to the hair. When I took her in I talked with the lady that would groom her, she agreed the hair was compacted and not matted, and that Poms shouldn't be shaved. To say my pup is a challenge to groomers is an understatement. Fortunately I moved right around the corner from K&A and am happy this comes with the benefit of the neighborhood. I said "shave off the mats" and the groomer took it as "shave the dog completely"...my dog was shaved to his skin, it was bare in some parts and he had burns/rashes all over him. It's so hard to find a good dog groomer around here, this is the third place I've tried. ****UPDATE in response to owner's response. He was shaved BALD. Obviously if I asked to shave off the mats, I understand that it's the most humane option. I didn't ask for a dematting. But do I want my dog completely bald? You shaved his ears, his eyelashes, his tail. To the skin. That I deem unnecessary. Pretty sure eyelashes don't get matted. I took Willie once and it was great! The price was less than where we usually go and the ladies were so nice! I will say our dog was traumatized and wouldn't let anyone with a short haircut to go near him for a month but that's not the techs fault, I'm sure it is a near impossible job using shears on these scared and wild pets. All night I was saying I had to take my dog in gl for his appointment today at noon. Well, I've got 3 kids, no patience and no brain so a call at 12:15 was too late for me to make it in with Willie. Generally, my fur baby is extremely anxious and likes to hide whenever she's in a new environment, especially around new people and loud noises. Now, my fur baby seems rejuvenated, happy, and excited after her grooming appointment from this establishment. My fur-baby had her first visit with K & A Grooming around early Fall 2020. From what I observed and experienced with my fur-baby, these K & A Grooming personnel would not lock up my fur-child the whole day in a kennel like space until they have time to get to her. Rather than operating like a grooming mill, they operate and provide one-on-one personal grooming appointments, like most individual human consumers would get a salon or spa establishment. Typically, at other grooming establishments, those groomers would require their clients to drop off their pets by 8:30 am and would only allow pick up at 4:30 pm. Unfortunately, in the past, my fur-baby's eyes exhibited great sadness and seemed overly stressed out whenever I pick her up from those other grooming establishments (like I just rescued her from a U.S. sanctioned black-site where she was condemned into solitary confinement and tortured for 7+ hours). I couldn't bare to take her back to those types of grooming establishments. As such, regardless the distance, I will continue to drive over an hour in ATX traffic to ensure my fur-baby enjoys her grooming session. read more

Indeed they are great and fast for a chihuahua. The place is great and didn't smell like pets at all. They kept it very clean. They even have a play area for your pets. I'm giving this establishment a star for cleanliness and another star for being one of the very few groomers I've been to that doesn't hold your fur baby for hours on end. I moved to Austin at the beginning of Covid which meant finding a new groomer for my Pomeranian/corgi mix, Lenny. Lenny is a rescue and has a fair amount of past trauma/current anxiety from a previous owner so I was a bit worried about starting over the process again of getting him comfortable and trusting his groomer. Also frankly his breed is just overly posh anyways, so seeking out a groomer who wouldn't just shave him was on my radar too we did the full service package plus added on a teeth cleaning and when I picked him up he was soft, beautiful, and while still nervous seemed fairly happy and excited. It was roughly around $65 ish, plus $10 for the teeth cleaning. He's a bit larger (~18 lbs) than most poms because of his mixed breed! I don't have any complaints and the process took a bit over an hour. Will be back! read more
