Reasonably priced sushi for good quality. I got a combo deal of salmon, tuna, California rolls and my friend got a hand roll and scallop roll and we both enjoyed. The appetizer was a highlight. There's a back patio space. Walked in on a Saturday evening with no wait!

This place has always been solid, consistent and convenient (right off the L). And after many many years, that's never changes. Something I love is that they do the specifics well. So the ikura and uni are fantastic without overcharging. The staff is attentive, and the vibe of the place is casual, welcoming, perfect for a solo meal, friend meetup, or date night. With Lu. J I get the pot of green tea. With dinner- the hot sake. It's not high end but it certainly scratches that sushi itch!

The restaurant is really cute! We came around 6:30pm on a weekday and were seated instantly. There is lots of indoor seating and patio seating (with a ceiling) and the ambiance is great! The bathroom is also clean. The sushi came out pretty quickly and tasted delicious! Prices are fairly reasonable.

We stopped by Ako for a quick lunch and had: - Sushi Lunch: $16; $17.42 with tax - Toro Dynasty Roll: $20; $21.78 with tax Both dishes were underwhelming. The Toro Dynasty Roll only had sriracha mayo to add a dimension of flavor. Suggested tips are based on pre-tax subtotals and start at 20%, which is a bit high since there wasn't complementary tea. Overall, it feels like better options are available elsewhere.

What great service that they have here. Every time our water was low, it was filled to the top. Pretty good. The waiters came by frequently to attend to whatever it might be. However, I doubt that you need to make reservations as there's plenty of seating in the back space or in the main dining area. Food wise, I ordered the spicy seafood soup, which was alright. It's only for one person, as it's not a huge serving.the Golden Dragon roll was pretty good as the mango taste stood out. The classic roll combo was all of the items that sushi places all have. The matcha tiramisu tasted great as it's a combination of both desserts that I enjoy.

No frills, but solid sushi spot. Service was quick and friendly, and they never miss out on the details. Had some sushi pieces a la carte as well as some rolls. Also tried an order of the rock shrimp appetizer which came with a creamy spicy mayo sauce. Only thing is their outdoor seating smelled a bit funky.. granted we are outdoors but maybe it should be a little bit more well kept?

Ako is a great spot for inexpensive sushi and lunch sets slap bang in the middle of Bedford Avenue not far from the subway. I first came here by default when the restaurant I was planning on going to was closed and I've now been back many times. The room is pleasant with well spaced tables and there's a great seating area out back in the garden. The servers are friendly. The lunch sets are great value, they have a few types to choose from, not just the standard bentos and the portions are generous. There's a good variety of fish available and it's well prepared, rice is good too. Love it for a quick lunch!

We came here one rainy Sunday afternoon, thankfully their backyard area is covered with a transparent roof and we were able to hear and see the raindrops, we found it whimsical! Since I have not had a bento box in months, I ordered it to see what is their take on it. I selected salmon teriyaki bento. They first served a veggie salad with ginger dressing followed by miso soup. The bento box came with 4 pieces of California roll, 2 pieces of fried siomai, white rice, and salmon teriyaki on a bed of mixed greens. I thought the serving was generous for $13, and it didn't compromise the quality nor the taste. On our way out, I told our server that we will come back next weekend. With great customer service and price points, who wouldn't?!

I've only ordered delivery from Ako so I can't speak to their dine-in experience, but the sushi here is really solid and not too expensive. I've gotten the spicy roll combo a couple times now and it's a great variety at a good value, as you get 6 pieces of spicy tuna, spicy yellowtail, crunchy spicy salmon all in one. The crunchy spicy salmon is by far the best one in the combo though!!

If you are Asian or eat quality sushi, this place sucks. Fushimi quality is better (but still not great). Both Ako and Fushimi are Chinese-run. Two stars because of nice ambiance and outdoor seating. Sushi on par with Sakura 6 and Wasabi in Greenpoint. I really feel like everyone saying the sushi is good has never eaten decent sushi before. read more

We started with the spicy mango salad, and it was everything an appetizer should be. It was delicious, light, and made my mouth water for more. It had just the right amount of sweetness and spiciness from the sweet chili sauce, with the creamy deliciousness of the peanut, and the crunch of the jicama and vermicelli. And then the mango in every bite of all that? Yes yes yes yes yes yes. Rolls I tried: Tuna Salmon Twister - Spicy Cheery Aioli crunchy spicy salmon, sweet peanut roll topped with japanese spice crusted tuna & avocado. Lobster Rock 'N Roll shrimp, avocado, cucumber roll with lobster salad mango & tobiko on the top. Christmas - Green Tea-Sea Salt sun dried tomato, avocado roll with tuna & super white tuna on the top. Pink Lady Tempura - Spicy Strawberry Cream shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, jicama, avocado wrapped in soy bean sauce. They went to the trouble of presenting these rolls to us in style, drawing little hearts and kind words in sauce. My friend pointed out that the two of us look like such assholes with this in front of us, especially when two of our rolls are basically a Christmas and a Valentine's Day roll and its July and we're not in a relationship. Anyhow, I appreciated it. And Jesus it was so good. I'm still not sure what a "cheery aioli is" or even whether it mightn't be one of those typical Asian menu misspellings, but the roll was delicious and did indeed make me cheery. The lobster roll was also soooo goood. The Christmas roll was nice, but my least favorite of the four (that being said, still some of the better sushi I've had). The Pink Lady roll rocked. Man, oh man. And then I used a $25 coupon, so that, after tax and tip, my friend and I only paid $23 each for this feast. If you're not using Restaurant.com, you're missing out! read more

This evening I was getting couple of roll from this place I find disgusting about this restaurant the waitress with the glass keep talking to the sushi guy when they making the rolls " OH MY GOD " can you care about you saliva is on my roll . This really unbelievable how can sushi chef keep talking when they are working your saliva is everywhere???? It take me couple of minutes to think whether I gonna eat the saliva roll or not at last I when to Macdonald thanks for your saliva roll I never eat sushi again At last I have another question before I end ????? The staff treated me and my wife with utter contempt when we asked a question about the menu. My wife asked how many pieces of sashimi came in one order. The waitress got angry and said one, of course, and left. Another waitress came to take our order and clarified each order came with two. I love this place. Been there many times in the past, always great sushi and great lunch specials. The problem is tonight I went there and there was a cockroach crawling across the table while I was eating. I caught the bug under the soy sauce container and showed it to the waiter. He continues to give me the full bill. I asked what can they do for this, they gave me $11 off. I spend a lot more than that there all the time. We didn't make a scene, kept it on whispers that this happened. Again, great place, been going there for years , but just a bad resolution to the situation. I get roaches pop up, but in a sushi, with raw fish, that's a major concern. read more

Ako is the best sushi place in the area! Their gyoza had perfectly steamed with the crispy fried bottom, the dough is thin and delicious. The edamame was amazing. Ordered 7 rolls and sake for a table of 5. Every one was unique and incredible. After having eaten at numerous delicious sushi places around NYC, Ako sushi is definitely one of the best!!! The wait is short even on a Friday night and they have free desert if you take a picture of their delicious food! What a great deal!!! read more

+4 Stars for the Food -2 Star for the Service I come here quite frequently when I want an average, casual sushi meal as AKO is the best "neighborhood" sushi place that delivers. Usually order the Toro Dynasty Roll, Spicy Tuna Crunch Roll and some Yellowtail sushi/sashimi. The food is solid, nothing special but good. Yesterday, I stopped in after a workout to grab a quick bite. I ordered the above and was brought tuna sushi instead of yellowtail. When I informed the waitress (above average height, thin asian girl with black plastic glasses) she told me rudely that I had ordered tuna sushi. I politely told her "No I ordered yellowtail" (I never order tuna sushi as I dont like the taste of tuna on its own). She jerked the plate and made an "ughh" noise. I responded, "nevermind I'll just keep it" Mind you, I am not difficult to please and understand mistakes happen- however, don't blame me for your mistake and then give attitude. If Ako management reads this, they need to tell their staff, especially this waitress the importance of guest service. Not acceptable. read more

OK.... so I came into this place with my husband one day and we were extremely disappointed with the service we had. We came in one day after work for some sushi and we were upset to overhear the waitresses speak under their breathe and in Chinese to charge us service charge because they wanted FORCED tips. They think we dont understand what they are saying, like i learned and studied different languages in college so i know what you are saying. Like no sweetie, I give tip for good service and when we tried to call one of the girls after viewing the check and ask them why we were being charged the service if it was only two people being served, they tried to be slick and ignore us but then one of the girls said "Oh no you don't need to pay the amount that is in BOLD, you can pay the amount that is printed in SMALL" I wonder how many other customers they robbed by having them pay for the service. I have lived in Billyburg for almost 5 years. I have seen Sushi places come and go. Ako actually opened just about 2 months ago - i have been to this places many time and find it to be the best in Williamsburg. the food is fresh and Delicious (not only the sushi, but the sauces they have are yum yum!) The food decoration is a little wild, but it add much charter to the place - people who say "pay more attention to the food" are a little clueless - food presentation IS important, especially when the food is good. The staff is extremely friendly and does a good job making you think you are the only on that matter in their restaurant. I would highly recommend this place to others.
