I normally order from Yamashiro for sushi delivery as it's our local favorite for dining in. I saw that Musashi had 5 stars and 2.2k reviews on Seamless/Grubhub, so I decided to give them a try instead. Before I dive into my food, I do want to note that I appreciated the expansive menu and affordability. For 3 special rolls, it was $44 plus delivery and tip. Pretty spot-on for what one would pay in-person. Delivery was quick at about only 25-30 minutes, and everything was packed well. While I typically favor nigiri, I was in the mood for some fun rolls for a good ol' girl dinner. Wanting variety in my fish, I ordered the Grand Street Roll (salmon, avocado, tuna, yellowtail, jalapeno, tobiko), Spicy Lover Roll (black pepper tuna, avocado, spicy salmon, wasabi sauce, special sauce) and Spicy Girl Roll (spicy tuna, fresh salmon, mango). Altogether each roll was pretty... bland. Or flavorless in regards to the fish. The Spicy Girl had so much mango, it kept falling off and very much overpowered the salmon and tuna. I took the mango off, but still couldn't really taste either? The Spicy Lover had no taste of black pepper tuna. The wasabi sauce overpowered the black pepper in a really disappointing way. The Grand Street Roll was definitely the best and the most fresh-tasting. I'd order this one again, but only if I go back... and I'm not sure I will. One last comment - the pickled ginger tasted very odd. It looked like your standard yellow ginger, but the spicyness of the ginger wasn't there whatsoever. I don't know if it was old, or soaked in water or something to reduce the flavor? I really don't know. It was odd. I usually ask for extra ginger, but I couldn't even enjoy theirs. All in all, I'm not sure why this place is rated so highly. For a Friday evening dinner order, I'd expect their best quality and freshest seafood. Sea scallop sushi ($3.75) - this only came with one piece, so it was quite pricy but worth it. But the scallop was super fresh and just melts in your mouth. Flying fish roe ($3.75) - this was also the price for one piece but less worth it than the sea scallop. It's your standard sushi, nothing too special. This place really had the best sushi in Williamsburg. Better than Ako by a lot. I usually get the salmon sushi dinner. You can tell it's good because of the fat distribution in the salmon. You can tell they use really high quality fresh fish whereas other sushi places in the area have more convenient locations but worse quality sushi. 1 star atmosphere but 3.5 star sushi and service. Musashi was a great find in the Williamsburg area, literally steps away from the Metropolitan stop on the G train. It was very quiet since it was Monday night but there was no lacking of service, quality and presentation of the sushi. We got things started with a dry/light cold sake. It was crisp and delicious and offered plenty of servings in the cutest mini champagne-like glasses. A Yelp check in perk was the Edamame appetizer. Standard and identical to all Japanese restaurants, but nevertheless, a nice accompaniment to nibble on and include with the meal. Shrimp Shumai was the additional app we ordered. Again, similar to those served at other restaurants. For main, we shared the Chirashi. This was served unlike others I've had in the past which was usually arranged in a deep bowl, rice on the bottom and layered with the variety of seafood on top. Theirs was served on the same dish as the Shrimp Tempura roll. The Chirashi included 15 slices of seafood, radish and egg garnished with spiraled radish and a small serving of seasoned rice. The fish was fresh and although it was presented aesthetically appealing with flowers and leaves, I prefer my chirashi served in the traditional manner. The Shrimp Tempura roll was good but not unlike other ones I've tried elsewhere. The roll was cut into 5 pieces and drizzled with the brown sauce most tempura rolls have. Very good. Musashi is a solid restaurant to try if in the area. With the menu being lengthy, we played it quick and safe but I'd return to explore other dishes and rolls. read more

I ordered the 3 Maki Roll Lunch Special and chose the Tuna Avocado Roll, Alaska Roll, Salmon Avocado Roll with a salad (you can choose soup instead if you wanted) for pickup at 11:30AM. Went there around 11:32AM and said I was there for pickup ... it seemed like they hadn't even started to make my order and the lady said they were finishing the order. I waited inside for 25 minutes...I understand if it was during the busy time, but they had just opened and shouldn't they have prepared my order before 11:30 when I was supposed to pick up? Used to be my go to delivery Sushi spot... fish quality has gone down recently, tasting less fresh that usual. Last order for delivery said it was done at 6pm and then "new delivery guy" marked it as delivered but it never showed. I tried to cancel on seamless and ordered again. Food came then and it was the original order.. but this was an hour late and was warm and had been obviously sitting out all that time. I then canceled the new order and Musashi called me about 5 times arranging for someone to come pick up that original order from me to tak it back... at which point it had now been about two hours (I put it in the fridge at least). This sushi spot is very spacey. Looks about standard in terms of decor. However, when I walked in, first thing I noticed was it was sweltering hot. Like really uncomfortable. It got better while I was there though so maybe they lowered the heat. The sushi was okay. Nothing to write home about. The service was slow which wasn't really acceptable considering we were the only people in the restaurant. Overall, it was fine. Am I rushing to come back? Probably not. My boyfriend and I went to Musashi on Valentine's day. Being that it's a holiday we were hoping it wouldn't be super busy and thankfully it wasn't. We were seated and brought menus. The staff was nice and we enjoyed the calm ambiance and music that was playing. We ordered miso soup, shrimp shumai, and sushi. California rolls, salmon avocado, and shrimp tempura rolls. It was all fresh and delicious. Our waitress checked on us and brought us sweet oranges after. She also gave me a chocolate rose in honor of the holiday that was sweet! They're not charging me for this order, but I tipped the poor guy. Will update w more food details tomorrow cause I ordered Mexican from another place during this process. Ugh! But I just checked and they threw in extra food - another roll and some pineapple slices. Ordered delivery for a dinner bento box at 8pm via Yelp. Was told 45-55 min eta. It's now 10:25 and I'm on a chat with a grub hub customer service rep who told me they're on hold with the vendor. I called the restaurant and they said they just received my order due to internet issues and are only making my food now -_- wtf. They offered me 20% discount and 10% discount next time I call in but honestly I'm just so mad (w both grubhub and the restaurant). Give me a 50% discount for making me wait 2 hrs and offer me 10-20% next time. My parents own and operate several restaurants and this is just such a poor reflection of customer service in the food industry. Solid place for delivery sushi in the area. Food arrives quickly and comes fresh. The rolls themselves are well made and not too rice heavy so you get full off the actual filling vs simple carbs. My recommendations: The salmon avocado, tuna avocado and California roll maki combo is filling and delicious. Unlike most, the side salad that comes with it is quite good with a sweet ginger dressing. The Musashi roll is a lot going on but in a good way. The multiple fillings make for an interesting savory flavor combo and the slight crisp is a nice touch. The Tom Yum soup has a nice kick but isn't too spicy and you can really taste the lemongrass flavor The only roll I didn't love was the golden dragon roll because I found the sliced eel on top a little fatty. Hands down--I've found my new go to sushi. I wish they did dine in so much that I actually showed up to the location a week after my first order but they're takeout only unfortunately. I usually opt for roll combos, but I didn't like that theirs mostly had California rolls or vegan rolls snuck into the 3-roll combos. I ordered the salmon avocado and spicy girl rolls instead, both with amazingly fresh and flavorful fish for the price. I'm not the biggest fan of spicy tuna so I took a chance on the spicy girl roll, and found myself preferring the perfection that was the simplistic salmon avocado roll. When I asked restaurant to add spicy mayo to tuna hand roll they added like 3 tablespoons and it was pouring out and the tuna was all cut up slimy end pieces, and both the salmon and scallop rolls had no flavor. Musashi is the bomb dot com. I had a big sushi craving and found Musashi on Yelp. I was staying down the street, so I walked on over on a Sunday night and luckily snagged a table right away. Food-wise, I decided to try the mango shrimp hand roll and the neptune roll (shrimp tempura, snow crab, eel, avocado, tobiko, tempura flakes, wrapped in marble seaweed). Both of these rolls were DELISH and so, so filling. The hand roll was stuffed to the brim and didn't skimp out on any of the shrimp, mango, and sauce. The neptune roll was large and filled with flavor. I thought maybe the shrimp tempura, snow crab and eel would be too much seafood in one roll, but it actually all complimented each other really well. I'm a sucker for salmon and mango and spicy tuna and this roll was definitely made for me! Also had the sashimi app which couldn't have been better! Tried King Salmon and Matai (Japanese Red Snapper) for the 1st time...sooooo good!! Said they have baby yellowtail and I'm looking forward to trying that next time! This is absolutely the hidden gem of Grand street. Never busy, always the fastest and most wonderful service. The attention to detail in the food is absolutely stellar, and subtle. From the micro cubes of soft tofu in the miso, teeny tiny mushrooms, the great handmade cups for the bottomless hot green tea, the free sliced orange desert, and usually a small free chef special at the beginning of each meal- the presentation is fun without being ridiculous, the fish, eel, and roe are all very fresh. Clean and unpretentious, the tunes are usually from the 90s era but not too loud- whimsical and a little dorky. Not sure why this place doesn't have many customers because every time I've gotten to-go/delivery from here, it's been nothing but solid to me. I won't say it's the best sushi I've had in my life, but for what's around the area & what it's worth, it's been pretty consistent. I pretty much always get the same two things: Chirashi Bowl & the Spicy Maki Combo with the miso soup. BUT, I was not at all disappointed. My friend and I ordered the spicy kani roll, 495 roll, and a spicy lover roll to share (the names always crack me up). So my friend and I ordered takeout through seamless which arrived on time, hot and fresh. We ordered, Veggie Yaki Udon, Salmon Asparagus, Kani Salad, Edamame, Vegetable Dumplings, Sesame Tuna Tataki. All of which were so amazing I couldn't stop raving about it. Firstly, it was my first time trying something on the menu that you don't find at regular sushi restaurants, i.e. the salmon asparagus. It is a very perfectly cooked asparagus wrapped with salmon. Tasty is an understatement. The sauces went so well, I just wanted more and more. That night, I told my husband we must go to the restaurant and try it. Knowing how much he loves sushi and is a die hard BONDST fan, I figured this place could almost live up to those expectations. So Friday night, we decided to have dinner there. They're only open a month so when we walked in they were empty but were doing lots of take out orders. I think with a little more marketing you'll eventually need to reserve in advance (yeah, it's that good). (Note it's a BYOB spot for now) We did bring our own bottle of wine which they graciously opened without charging a corking fee. And immediately sat us down with water, salad, and menus. This time we ordered the Edamame, Yellowtail Jalapeno, Salmon Asparagus, Black Cod, Musashi Roll & Spicy Lover Roll. The sushi rolls were absolutely incredibly fresh and tasty with the perfect amount of sauce to match the flavours. Simply heavenly. The black cod was pure butter. It just melted on my tongue. The only other place I've had such great cod was at Morimoto, so you can understand how amazing the quality of food is here. The Yellowtail Jalapeno had the perfect amount of spice and crunch going. What can I say, you really should try this place before they become world class. For dessert they actually gave us mochi ice cream, (my first time trying it -- I adore it) green tea and vanilla. Pretty much the perfect end to a phenomenal meal. To top it off all of this was so reasonably priced it just makes me want to be a regular customer here. Came here for dinner. It's really like 2* for the sushi and 4* for the apps. We got a ton of appetizers - calamari, fried chicken and veggie tempura. They were all very well cooked and crispy which is awesome. The sauces that came with each dish were great. You can't really go too wrong with it.
