I don't know how this woman received so many top ratings. I went to her for color and highlights. I told her multiple times that I DID NOT want to end up with ORANGE hair. This is such a common mistake made by people called "stylists"! I told her I wanted very fine highlights that blended in well. I EVEN brought multiple pictures for her to see. I ended up with orange tinted thick "highlights". Most noticeable was a thick highlight the looked like a band of orange going down both sides of my head! When I told her about this terrible hair color she said she was sorry. but she was too busy to fix it. Then several hours later she called me and told me that I could come back after 8 p.m. (I live 45-60 minutes away) and she would fix it after cooking dinner for her husband! This person does not understand English! She also does not understand how to highlight hair! I showed many pictures of what I wanted and she said she could do it. First time here. Located inside Sola Salon. Really interesting concept! Ako is nice and made me feel very comfy. Really enjoyed her head massage while she was washing my hair. She put in a delicious cream before blowdrying and cutting my hair more. We cut over 6 inches off but my hair feels so healthy. She made it shine and gave me a little curl as well. I decided to visit the salon since my mom had pretty good experiences here and so had her friends. Graduation was coming up, so I wanted to finally get a nice haircut after 2 years of being stuck at home due to the pandemic. The salon itself is a bit hard to find because you need to enter a large salon complex in the plaza called Sola Salon. Ako Salon itself is further down the hall, in a nice quiet place. The salon is pretty small but very clean. The lighting was very gray-ish white and quite gloomy. It looked very different from images that showed the salon to have nice warm lighting. Ako gave me some suggestions for the haircut, chopped off about 6 inches of hair since my hair was getting too long, and proceeded to do a hair wash. The hair wash was very relaxing and Ako consistently checked to make sure the temperature and pressure were good. Afterwards, was the actual haircut. The final product was good with a decent amount of layers and Ako even showed me ways of curling my hair. In the end, the haircut was $65 without tip. If you decide to not do the hair wash it's $5 off. Honestly I would still do the hair wash since it left my hair feeling softer and it's only a minor $5 difference. However, less than a month after my initial haircut, my hair started looking really really choppy and not very well cut at all. Not sure if that's a problem with my hair growth or the cut itself, but it was quite disappointing considering the price of the cut. My mom who also got her hair cut here again was disappointed by her haircut this time around. Overall, Ako was very nice and gave good recommendations, but I'm not sure if I'd come back. I'll probably try out some other hair salons first. read more

I loved my experience with Ako! This was my first time. I was awkwardly driving around the lot trying to find her place, then realized that you have to go inside of the sola salon to find Ako! I came prepared with a picture of what I wanted (chest length, thinned out a bit with see through bangs). I haven't really chopped my hair in a while...but I ended up cutting around 6-7 inches!!! Ako shampooed my hair and thinned it out, just like I asked. She was so sweet and always made sure that I was comfortable. Ako has been my go to for maybe 10 years now. My sister introduced me to her back when she was still working at another salon. Then followed her when she opened her own salon in Cupertino! Im not one to go to salons and get haircuts regularly, which i probably should do to keep my hair healthy. Heheh but Ako has been great ever since! She is super nice, very sweet, and listens to what I like. Sometimes i let her just decide for me, do whatever she thinks look nice on me with the length we agreed on. I especially love the head massage during the wash and her head spa is great! She makes sure that you are comfortable! She plays nice relaxing music, dims the lights, gives you a blanket, and just gives your space while your hair gets treated during the head spa. Which i very much enjoy! I desperately wanted a haircut as my hair was getting so long. My aunt usually cuts my hair, but she's busy now so she hasn't gotten a chance. I usually don't trust strangers with my hair, but I decided to take a chance on Ako. It was a same-day cut, so I wasn't sure if she had any openings. I decided to text her anyway. To my surprise, she was able to squeeze me in! She even told me that people wait months to get a haircut from her. I came in, showed her what I wanted and she started to chop off my hair.
