I got my hair permed here years ago. I requested and showed photos of Korean wavy perms. Maybe it's because I told her I never had my hair treated, but I think k she processed my hair longer than it needed to be. I ended up with something like a tight 80's perm even after following care instructions. She did cut off bits of hair after the perm to make the perm look better, which ruined my actual haircut. One side ended up being longer than the other. I ended up buying relaxer from Walmart after 2 months because the curls never got looser. She was really nice, but $500 isn't worth not getting the result you wanted. read more

Ruined my hair after getting a perm here. I grew my hair out for 4 months to get a perm wanted curtain bangs and it was cut too short compared to reference photos but the front of my head still looked fine no complaints. Although the cut was ok the perm was not, large parts of my hair also broke off and the back of my head now looks like a mess and the curls are a lot tighter than reference. Ive gotten perms in the past and this is the only time I've had large patches of hair break off. Overall the price is quite expensive for the result that i got. Leaving a mixed review cause for a cut its fine and service was great but knocking it for the quality of the perm and large patches of hair breakage which has never happened to me before read more

Since my usual stylist was all booked up (I've been getting digital perms at Koreana Salon for at least three years), I did some research on Yelp and saw all of the great reviews about Bora. I really liked how she offered so many different styles of perms, and decided to get a Medium Epris perm. It was almost a two month wait and I had never tried her before, but let me tell you it was so worth it!! I love my hair soo much! When I got there, Bora asked me what I'd like, and I said I'd like the Medium Epris perm. She then asked me if I washed my hair in the morning or at night (which no other stylist has ever asked me) - I said at night. She said do you blow dry? I said no (ummm I get these perms so I have style and volume in my hair with no maintenance!). She then said that the Medium Epris perm consists of medium and tight curls, so I'd either have to shower in the morning or blow dry at night, because if I go to sleep with my hair wet on my pillow the curls won't look good in the morning. Or else she'd recommend the Body Wave style. I asked her to show me pictures of the Body Wave, and I liked how they looked like effortless curls and could still give me a glam look with super low maintenance. So Body Wave, here I come! She asked me if I wanted to keep my length and I said yes, but I did understand if she had to cut off my dead ends. She's very gentle, meticulous, organized, and friendly. After she cut my hair, she brought out a mini face shield to tape onto my forehead before she applied the chemicals, and then covered my ears with plastic wrap. I've never had a mini face shield put on my face before or my ears protected, and she said it's to prevent anything from splashing on your face or ears (so considerate!) After two chemical douses and heat, we then went to hair wash (where she puts another face protector over the shield for extra protection). The hair washing was very thorough and relaxing, and felt like twice as long as other salons (love it!). Then my hair got curled and connected to the heat machine. I almost had a heart attack after the curlers were taken out since the curls looked so tight and short, but thank goodness this is all part of the process, so trust her expertise - Bora then used a straightening iron to straighten out the tops of my hair so that the curls will permanently start halfway down, and then she also puts in a liquid afterwards that loosens the curls a lot. Then another hair wash (with a very nice scalp massage!) and then blow dry. She taught me how to take care of my hair (use hair oil after shampooing with no conditioner, and if I'm going to let it air dry then section into four and hand twist each section, or if I'm going to blow dry then blow dry 90% and then section into four hand twist and blow dry each section). The end result is a perm that I love love love love love and my hair looks so healthy without my split ends and I still have length!! Yes, it's $460 (I have long hair) for 3 hours but it's TOTALLY worth it! You'll feel pampered (there's a mini iPad to watch Netflix and she's so gentle and friendly) and she really knows how to make your hair look its best! read more

First time working with Bora and she absolutely did NOT disappoint! This was my first trip to any barber/salon since Covid hit so I was in dire need of a haircut. I opted to get a korean perm up top and then a down perm on the sides/back (total $210 + tip). Total process took about 2 hours from beginning to end. Covid precautions: Bora enforces a number of strict guidelines so I felt extremely safe being in the salon. Customers must wear a mask at all times regardless of vaccination status. She also has you wait in your car and go in only when she texts you so that she is able to disinfect the hair station in between each client. Experience: Bora is the absolute sweetest! She was so easy to talk to and I felt like there was a really good balance of conversation vs silence which I personally appreciate. She was so incredibly patient and helpful in explaining the nuances of the perming process as well as after-care. I was pretty nervous going in but I felt like Bora did an amazing job of easing my concerns and I couldn't imagine a more enjoyable first perm experience! I got my hair permed 9/17/24 and payed around $600 for my previously healthy hair to look frizzy and fried. My hair looked nothing like in the photo I requested and it didn't look like the photos on yelp. On her website it showed the perm price as around $450 but on the day of she rung me up $550. It's been about half a year now since my appointment and I found a hair on my head that was made of 3 strands of hair in total that had melted together. I understand that perming your hair will cause damage, but I expected more from someone that looked at the inspo picture once and said confidently that they could do it and said they had certified training in Korea. Her overall vibe was nice but fake and it was just uncomfortable being there overall. The one good thing I can think of is she offers decent amenities for free. Would never get a perm again based on my experience and would if i would get a perm again it definitely wouldn't be here. read more

Trust me, I've been going to this studio for the last 4 years, ever since it was at the old Sola Salon location till this new location. Growing up, I was told that "First skin, second hair and teeth, third figure/body type" make up your physical appearance. So finding a great hair stylist is really important! I'm so glad I find Bora, the owner of this studio. Totally by luck! First of all, I love the interior decoration of her store. So chic and comfortable. You can hang out while waiting at that welcoming couch like it's your living room or browsing the awesome selection of unique jewelries that are for sale there. And all the cool around-the-world robots collection! Not to mention Bora always keeps her store clean and shiny. The service itself is beyond expectations. I like how Bora only books one customer at a time and dedicates the whole hour for only me. I feel like a royalty when she wraps that silk wrap around me and offers to take my bag and put it away for me. She listens to what I want and offers advice if I ask. Bora takes time and carefully trims my hairs. After the first cut, we move to the hair wash station where she gives me incredibly relaxing wash and massage. I dozed off so many time, especially if my haircut was late in the afternoon after work. That tells you how great her head massage skill is! Then we get back to the haircut station where Bora will fine tune the cut and style it. I like how she always offers me a pillow to hold and a magazine to read. She's considerate to know when to make conversation and when to let me be in my relaxing bubble which I appreciate a lot. It's true that her fee is on a high side. But the superb quality service and skill she provides speak for themselves. That's why I keep coming back for years. *COVID-19 Review* I decided to book an appointment with Bora for the first time after my brother recommended this salon. After 5+ months without a haircut, I was willing to pay extra for a perm as well. I am definitely very satisfied with the results! Thankfully the studio has taken all measures to accommodate for the pandemic. You wait outside in the parking lot until Bora texts you to come inside, and you have to sanitize and get your temperature checked. Masks are on the whole time, and Bora will make you wear a disposable face shield while cutting/treating your hair. Contactless payments like Apple Pay are also accepted.
