I had a really mixed experience here with the two different dresses I had altered. The first dress…read moreturned out wonderfully. I was initially impressed that she did not try to upsell me for alterations I didn't need. I will note, however, that i had to come back multiple times before getting everything done properly. For example, the first time she forgot to hem the under layer of my dress, so then I had to drive all the way back to Bethesda to pick it up again once she had done that. She also forgot to cut my veil to length. The second dress I had altered here was admittedly at the last minute. At first, I was just glad she could get to it with my wedding just a few weeks away. However, in hindsight, I wish she would have simply said she couldn't get it done in time. I had asked for the dress to be taken in, but somehow she totally altered the shape of the dress. She removed detailing around the bodice (I think to remove a weird lump, but she wound up changing the whole shilloutte). Then she somehow made the skirt far more voluminous. When I took the dress to a second seamstress for alterations, she was shocked at how bad of a job was done and told me I had to go back to elegant alterations and bridal and demand they fix it, as it was such a hack job I shouldn't have to pay someone else to fix it. Of course, Elegant Alterations and Bridal refused. She said because I didn't complain at the time of receiving the dress, it was too late and she did nothing wrong. At the time of the service, I did note the change, but she told me nothing could be done, and I had initially accepted it. But then once I got home and had more time to really look, I wondered why she had to change the shape and sought a second opinion. And that's when I realized she ruined my dress because she rushed. TLDR: She can do a wonderful job given enough time, and won't try to upsell you (although you may have to come back multiple times). However, don't trust her with a last minute job.

The alterations I paid for: hem so the length fits me and add a bustle. The alterations I received: ___. To be fair, she did add a bustle, it just didn't actually hook and/or work. I had people constantly attempting to re-bustle me until we finally gave up and safety pinned the dress. As for the hemming...maybe she forgot? Regardless, the dress was so long I couldn't walk without stepping on the front (a terrible situation for a strapless dress - please use your imagination and pray the photographer deleted the evidence). For what it's worth, I love dogs. However, if I knew she had a dog in the shop with her frolicking around while she's (allegedly) altering clothes, I never would have come here. I have a child with severe allergies (lots of allergies - not just dogs, but also hypoallergenic dogs due to dander and other sensitivities), and wholeheartedly regret exposing him by using this tailor. My wedding was 99% perfect. The only thing I would change would be the tailor so my dress would actually have a chance at fitting. I said fine since I had faith it would be done right. She only fixed half the problems and when I asked her if she said could fix it she said no and wouldn't give me a partial refund. I said I don't really want to because they did this in the first place. She said take it to Nordstrom. I said they are better tailors than you? She said, I can't fix, and then started to walk away. Meanwhile, she still had never really even looked at it. Totally insane. How can you have a tailoring business that just says no. It is exactly what happened to my friend when she took some pants to be tailored. Just a super weird no to a normal tailoring job. Meanwhile, not a soul in the store and tons of suits and jackets and shirts. I would assume she would at least be nice to people as a way to draw in business. I was going to ask her if they had a man's tuxedo shirt (I need one for the same event as this dress is for), I wanted to get him a really nice quality one. But after that treatment. They provided all the suits for everyone in my…read morewedding, totaling 10 suits with 3 different combinations for people in 5 different states, including a suit for a woman. We were worried about fittings given that nobody could come into the shop itself, but besides a few small adjustments day-of, everything fit perfectly. Their suits are definitely of high quality, and the people working there are kind, responsive, and overall and top-knotch to work with. Zero regrets, would rent from them again.
