Outrageously bad work. Not only did I have to go back after they sewed my medal ribbons on in the wrong order (even though I gave them a photo of the correct order and he took a picture himself) I've also been left with work so bad - look at the 'quality' of the sewing, I couldn't possibly wear my uniform in this state. Sam at London Tailor is excellent!! He even won first prize at a tailor competition in Soeul Korea as a young man. I had several jobs, and he creatively found solutions. Other tailors said my pants couldn't be altered, but Sam found a way. He is putting new piping on my jacket to give it new life, he is repairing my mother's heirloom dress, and he is repairing other items that have needed attention for a long time. I got hired to a new job at the last minute (Thursday evening) and had to travel to Chicago to begin a week long orientation and training on Sunday afternoon (less than 72 hours later). Friday morning I went out and purchased four new pairs of pants that I intended to wear for this training and I needed to get them hemmed. I had called London Tailor and inquired if they would be able to do a same day hem job for four pants. The person who answered the phone quoted me $25 per pair to hem and a 20% same day surcharge, making it $35 per pair. A totally reasonable price in my opinion for same day service. Got to the location at around noon and was finished with the fitting by 1 PM. My pants were ready for pickup by 5 PM that day. At close inspection one would not be able to notice that the pants were hemmed, as the thread matching and hem quality was superb. All in all, a great experience. I highly recommend them and will be utilizing their services again in the future. read more

I have been going to London Tailor for almost 15 years, and i am very picky. I brought custom gowns, winter coats, and tons of pants and shirts - even shoes. If i care about the clothing item i will not take it anywhere else. Other so-called expert tailors do not compare. I have always been happy with the outcome. read more

Very good Tailor. Most people don't seem to know you must work with your tailor no matter how good to insure the proper fit and styling that you are looking for is done to suit your taste. Also you should never expect a miracle especially if you bring a poorly made garment to be altered or "fixed". , granted there are bad doctors, lawyers, dentist, hair stylists, etc they are bad for any profession also what level are they on in their craft? You are not going to get a master tailor work at apprentice prices. Look and examine (if you have learned what to look for) at their work, LEARN! decide what it is you want and if you are willing to pay for it. You are paying for a expert Tailor it takes many years to learn that skill set and it is always growing and changing just like your body. Example a 20 minute job may have taken 30 months to learn and perfect so why do you think it should cost so little? You are paying for their skill and the ability to use it to serve your tailoring needs or wants not just their time. Do not rush a fitting, ask the right question and be prepared for the answer. Is the garment poorly made, is it too big or small or are you too big or small, can what you want done happen, how difficult will it be, how long does it need to be done right. many times you need more than one fitting session and there still can be a issue. This Tailor is one of 3 tailors that I have used for many years granted I have a great deal of knowledge but it didn't just happen to come along. Our personal appearance is sometimes a very important asset so don't look for cheap but learn what to look for in a tailor. After a bunch of "tailors" at cheap dry cleaners ruined a lot of my clothes, I looked for an affordable tailor in the DC area. Failing to find one I could afford in DC proper, I trekked to Bethesda to London Tailor as they are the only ones that could do my complicated alterations at a price just a little more expensive than the dry cleaners. They slimmed down and sized down all my suits. At 50-100 for suit alterations that include shortening sleeves with button holes and slimming down the torso, this is a good deal. Elsewhere in DC charge twice that. However, their work could be hit or miss. Sometimes, my suit would come out perfectly and I would think that London Tailor is such a good deal, other times, I would see loose stitches. Once, I had a critical alteration mistake, but after I pointed it out, they fixed it for free and delivered it to me. For mid-priced off the rack suits, I think their price outweighs the negatives and is overall still a good value. But if I had the money, I would have looked elsewhere for more reliable alterations. As a side note, another reviewer said they their hem was marked crocked. I've never had that problem since they use this device that looks kind of like a free standing yard stick with a chalk sprayer on it so they just adjust the chalk at a certain height and walk around you with the device and it marks exactly the same height all around. read more

Overpriced for fair or average work at best. Paid $110 for a dress to be taken in and it looks awful. Treads showing, uneven straps, and uneven gathers in the draping. Wanted to charge me an additional $120 to HEM the dress! Ended up just taking my mangled dress to another tailor. The new tailor was looking at the chalk marks that the tailor at LT had made ( before he told me it would be $120 and I said forget it) and said they were uneven ! One mark was to the floor the next was 1 inch above the floor, the next was a half inch above the floor. I was fooled by the good reviews, don't be! Now I have to pay ANOTHER tailor and pay more money to fix a dress that should be perfect for the amount of money I already paid LT. read more

Although a little pricey, they do exellent work. I know the clothes that I bring to them to fix, will be perfect when I leave. They also work very fast, I haven't waited longer than a week for my clothes to be ready. When they give you a finish date, its always ready on that date. This is the only place I go to get my clothes fixed. read more

Unbelievable repair job on my favorite suit. Sat down in the airport and the armrest caught on my pocket and ripped-out the seem. Amazing repair for a very small fee - best deal in bethesda. They are not a cleaners, which frequently offer tailoring services, but most cleaners are actually not great at the tailoring piece. Judging by the bolts of fabric on display, they appear to be able to make suits from scratch, so these guys appear to be real deal and a great value. My wife has also taken several garments / items here with great success, though I think they charge a bit more for tailoring on women's items. These folks get my highest recommendation. read more
