Ali Baba's good reviews don't lie- the food was excellent, homemade, and catered with care. They set up our party's table for us when they arrived right on time. Salad and dressing are very refreshing, garlic sauce and hummus were impeccable, pita bread nice and soft, meats perfectly cooked. No complaints whatsoever. Such a good deal! We got the mixed grill, and for about $50 you get a pretty substantial meal that could likely feed 4-5 people for dinner. If getting takeout, as we did, they package it well and it's just about ready to put on the table and dig in! As for the food - I really have no complaints. I checked this place out with my best friend yesterday and we were both pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. The establishment is next to a gas station and, from what I understood, only does to-go orders. The gentleman who helped me mentioned he also does catering events. I bought the jumbo chicken schwarma wrap and my friend got the chicken schwarma plate. Food portions are big and definitely surprising given the reasonable prices. The gentleman who took my order was polite and friendly. He gave me two free small pieces of baklava to try. I've been to a different Mediterranean restaurant in Pomona where the prices are much more expensive so it's nice to know of a different location I can go to when I'm craving Mediterranean food with a less expensive price point. read more

After reading all the 5 star reviews on this place, I was super excited to visit this place for the first time. Food was decent, unfortunately the service was a big let down. I arrived for lunch shortly after 1:00 pm and it didn't seem like anyone was working there. My kids and I were standing by the door which seemed like for 5 min. I saw a man walk to the back and he although he saw me and my family, he didn't even acknowledge me until I went to him and asked him if the restaurant was open. I saw there was a family eating inside, so this place doesn't follow covid protocols. The man told me we could sit anywhere, so I said we would eat on the patio. He handed me menus, walked away, and left me with the pleasure to move the tables together myself. After about 15 min, he came back to take our orders and I ordered a bunch of things to try: *Spicy Potato (good, not too spicy...spiciness level is 3/5) *Falafel (really tasty, but found a chunk of aluminum foil/metal in my mouth from eating this. Manager comped this dish and gave us dessert) *Spinach Fatayer (tasty) *Cheese Burke (kids loved this) *Mixed Grill (includes Shish Kabob (meh), Kafta Kabob (good), chicken kabob (tender and tasty)) *Chicken Shawarma Gyro (we all sampled this and we all liked it) I had to ask for the pita and garlic sauce as the server didn't automatically bring it out. I did appreciate that they gave us individually wrapped disposable utensils and bottled water (after waiting about 10-15 min). The food didn't take too long once we placed our order. I also ordered kafta kabob and chicken shawarma plates to go so my husband could try it too for dinner. It took forever for us to get our check. Then I showed him my 20% coupon for Yelp check-in, but then that took forever because the server didn't know how to calculate the discount, so I had to show him how to subtract 20% off the bill. This lunch took us about 2 hours... most of those 2 hours was waiting around for the server. We left around 3:00. Thank goodness I didn't have anything else to do today! Not sure why everything took so long as there were only us and 1 other family there, and 2 guys with hookahs. Rarely do I enjoy a meal at a restaurant so much that I end up ordering it again the next day. This is one of those restaurants! I ordered takeout using Yelp's GrubHub interface - we got 2 Chicken Shawarma Plates. The order was ready when I arrived and the pick up was easy. When I arrived, the restaurant had several orders that nobody picked up, so I was offered an extra Kafta Kabob plate! What a treat. The food was sooo good. Chicken Shawarma was wonderfully seasoned, rice was so good, and I especially liked the grilled peppers - everything went well with the toum sauce, of course. The hummus was some of the best hummus I've ever had. The Kafta was also very flavorful and it was so nice to get an extra meal. I was really impressed by the overall quality and service. The next night we ordered the lamb shank. It smelled so good, we started eating it immediately and forgot to take a photo of it. After the meal, I received a very kind phone call from the restaurant thanking us for coming back a second time in 2 days. He remembered me! But genuinely, a GREAT Lebanese place, and right in Pomona. Highly recommend! First of all, this place has great customer service, as other reviews have said. They are very polite and helpful on the phone. They were willing to take my restaurant.com certificate, even though it is usually for dine-in only (but these are covid times we're living in) PLUS apply a Happy Hour deal. Everything was delicious! LOCATION : There's a huge parking lot for the plaza. This place is one of the fewer places open late. FOOD : We got the Lamb Kebob and Chicken Shawarma plates. Honestly it was all super delicious. I've had stale, hard to chew meat at other places but this was the opposite - the kebob is huge and chicken tasted fresh and aromatic. The quality is great so it's a fair $$ place. Not only is he soooo kind and soooo genuine and caring but such a great human. He had a baby shower for 150 people to cater to and I was in a hurry and he still made time to make my food and get it out on time. I need to add that I am middle eastern and I only eat my moms homemade food and so I am very picky, and this food was just as authentic and clean and tasty as my mothers! Loved this place! We ordered the duet kabob plate, the hot appetizer combo, and arayes. My favorites were the kibbeh, falafel, and arayes; they were super crispy and flavorful, tasted amazing! The rice was also super good and just the right amount of oily. Ali baba has one of the best Mediterranean cuisines I've had at a hookah lounge! I had the labneh panini sandwich and it was so good! The proprietor of this business is the sweetest man, and he pretty much singlehandedly makes all the food from his personal family recipes. Very generous portions (unlike some other local Mediterranean restaurants) and everything is delicious and lovingly made. Doesn't look like much when you walk past as they are closed for dine-in, so the storefront is pretty much his kitchen. Don't miss it! Our DoorDash driver wrongfully cancelled an order and the owner called to tell us he had our food ready, even offered to drive it down to me; I came to pick it up and he was so apologetic, honored the DoorDash promotional price, and threw in some baklava (a must-have). We ordered from here for my dad's 70th birthday dinner and everything we ordered was good! My dad is a chef and it's hard to please him with restaurant food but this was one of the exceptions. Ali (the owner) was great! Was going to place an order via the website but saw that they may get charged a fee for it so I called instead (~4:30pm Saturday). Ali had just taken 6 other orders before mine and said it would take a little while for the food to be ready. It's pretty much a one-man operation with a couple of employees. Ultimately took around 45-60 minutes for the order to be finished, so plan accordingly! We ordered nearly every protein on the menu and were pleased with what we got. -ground beef kebab (koobideh?): this was a favorite of everyone's. Perfectly seasoned and wishing we ordered more of this one. -chicken kebab, salmon filet: seasoned just enough and wasn't overcooked/dry. -lamb shank: very tender and flavorful -shrimp kebab: was not what we were expecting but was pleasantly surprised with the flavor. We were hesitant to get seafood to go because overcooked seafood will end up dry, but the tomato based sauce that the shrimp was cooked in was really good and paired well with the rice. -beef kebab: the men in my family enjoyed this but the women did not (because they felt it was too tough). Mother-in-law said it was overcooked but I think it was actually because there was tendon that was hard for them to chew. -the side salad that went with the meals were very appetizing and was a great palate cleanser. -hummus was excellent -baklava was one of the best ones I've had - not drenched in syrup. All the layers were still flaky crispy, and even though baklava is always too sweet for my Asian taste buds this one was on the less sweet side, especially if you had one of the center pieces with whole pistachios in the middle. -rice was seasoned well, and the grilled veggies were perfect since we didn't have to waste much of it from it being too burnt (as in many cases when you order grilled veggies). -quail was a little too over-seasoned for our liking, and took away from the texture of the meat.
