Overall not bad. I got the poke bowl but it wasn't what I expected. I should have come here first to check out the photos. It was topped with pineapple and melons and you have to ask for wasabi and chopsticks. The flavor of the rest of the bowl was good but I just separated the fruit to eat at the end. It's inside Deco which means super busy on a weekday lunch. I think my wait was between 15-20 minutes. A lot of people order ahead. I'd recommend doing the same. read more

This place is located inside Delco. You order food and grab it to sit anywhere in the food court. There is no parking lot but street parking is available. Came here during lunch on a weekday since it was convenient to where I was. There was such a long line that I thought that it must be great sushi. To my disappointment, the sushi was okay. I got the shrimp tempura roll and the spicy tuna roll which are usually my go tos. The shrimp tempura only had shrimp and nothing else and the spicy tuna had too much sauce. Overall, I had higher expectations for this place as the food was not cheap (about $10 per roll). Would I return? Maybe if there are no other food options around the area. read more

I've been to Al Chus a few times and for being in a Deco food hall I would say it's a bit pricey. There aren't a bunch of specials that you would find in other sushi restaurants but it's still convenient to where I live. The dumplings were good and came with a dipping sauce. The signature roll was really good- reminded me of a hairy Mexican roll. I like the the spicy tuna had a crunch to it but it wasnt very spicy! The vegetable tempura roll was very asparagus flavor toward. Yes it's a veggie roll but the flavor wasn't exciting. Al Chu's sushi is the best I've ever had. He actually makes his own from scratch wasabi. He also offers the powdered premade stuff. As a matter of fact you have to enjoy and like wasabi and ask for the homemade stuff if you want it. It's out of this world. I'd like to get his sashimi he puts it on a bed of lettuce. Al the owner is the one that many times takes your order and makes your order. You can get anything on your role that you want. They have make your own rolls. I removed the crab from the top and tried alone and it was not a pleasant California roll, very flavorless. Create your own was cucumber avocado cream cheese and jalapeno with spicy mayo. I've only had the Tuna Poke bowl here so this review is specifically for this item and the service level of the restaurant. I asked the counter person what type of tuna and salmon they were serving and she responded with "I think its raw". It is the responsibility of the managers and owners of any place of business to ensure folks are trained properly and know where to get the correct information. Also if you are a part of any sushi operation you need to be able to tell a customer what type of fish you are serving and where it has come from. You are selling raw product. This is not a small detail. After some digging I found out they are using farm raised Atlantic salmon and and possibly big eye tuna. No one was exactly sure. I proceeded to order a Tuna poke bowl. There was no description on the menu of the ingredients but I've eaten many a poke bowl in my life and I figured it would be fine. I shouldve inquired about the ingredients because never in my life have I been faced with eating a poke-fruit bowl. The Tuna poke bowl consisted of large cut under ripe and/or frozen pineapple, tuna, very slimy rotten awful mesclun greens, edamame, cucumber and cantaloupe! Cantaloupe. What on earth is this melon doing being a surprise in my poke bowl. It was hard, cut way too large and also just why?! If this is something the chef really wants people to experience they should absolutely focus on the knife skill of the prep staff and make everything way smaller, put a description or warning that u are eating fruit salad on top of rice, and train folks to know when to toss the greens. It was not a pleasant eating experience in the least. To top it off the saccharine cloyingly sweet sauce in top of everything was just strange. This experience left me just puzzled. read more
