We stopped at al-Hamawi after lunch at Haifa nearby. We've been to the Bridgeview location a few times, which is really nice, but that location is small and cramped (unless they expanded recently). This location is much bigger inside and there is more natural lighting. It was packed when we went and pretty loud. Getting into and out of this parking lot is a pain, though. They have all of their classic nuts, candies, and other al-Hamawi goodies. The drink menu seems bigger than the Bridgeview location. They also have more baked desserts at this location. We ordered a cappuccino, a hot caramel macchiato, and a sugar cookie for my son. The cappuccino was excellent and they did a good job foaming the milk. The foam was also great on the macchiato, and my wife seemed to enjoy that drink. The sugar cookie looked amazing, but was very hard and seemed overpriced at $6.95. The drinks were reasonably priced. Service was decent. Please note that they have a lot of taxes: state tax, county tax, city tax, and a "special" tax. read more

The place was very elegant and clean. There was plenty of seating inside and outside. The service was amazing. I ordered an iced banana matcha and iced strawberry cream matcha however the cashier thought I said coffee for the banana matcha which I didn't notice until I came to pick up the matchas. I informed the workers that if this was my order I was suppose to have a banana matcha and they made me the banana matcha and told me to keep the coffee version. It was so nice. I don't drink coffee so it was fortunate that my friend drank it the following morning. They said it was delicious despite them disliking the flavor of banana. The matcha is on the sweeter side regardless it was absolutely delicious. I do crave matchas that are sweet sometimes so this was a perfect after dinner dessert. The banana flavor was good and not too overpowering or artificial. The strawberry was like a jam consistency so it did not mix that well with the matcha but was delicious despite it being stuck on the bottom. read more

I stumbled upon this coffee shop after attempting to go to one that I had already been to (it was closed during the time I went - so I was looking for a different place to go to) and to be honest, I've come back here about 6 more times including on my way to work one morning, which is completely out of the way but the coffee is so worth it. For reference, I get the iced latte with oat milk and sugar free vanilla and sugar free caramel syrup! It's not often you find a sugar free caramel, so that's a plus. I came here for some smoked sunflower seeds, and I got a 1lb bag. The seeds are amazing, and they are very well priced. I've been to other roasteries that charge more for similar quality. The service was quick, and I was in and out very fast. The ambiance was very nice. One side is for the roastery, and the other side is for getting drinks. They also have candy, seasonings, jam, and other goodies that you can purchase there. I would definitely go back for the seeds if nothing else, but I plan to try other goodies next time I go. read more

My sister in law turned me on to this local gem and I visit every time I'm in town, sometimes I go multiple times. They put Dunkin and Starbucks to shame. This is a local, family run spot and you can tell that they put their heart into the business. I have never had anything there that I have not liked. I typically get whatever the seasonal latte is and sometimes I grab a muffin too. Everything here is delicious and the staff is always friendly and welcoming, they also give great recommendations if you're not sure what to get. Stopped by with a friend on a Saturday afternoon because we were looking for coffee shops to try. I tried an iced chai latte and loved it. It wasn't overly milky or sweet, and I could really taste the spices. Also want to note that the large was much larger than I was expecting, but the chai flavor was still concentrated throughout the entire drink. My friend tried their iced golden coffee shaken espresso and she loved it. We also ended up picking up some chocolates after one of the staff offered to let us sample them, and they were also delicious (as expected). Though we didn't stay long, I also wanted to note that there is plenty of seating and lots of natural light that create a lovely ambiance for working or hanging out. I noticed that they even offer big battery packs for laptops, which means you can work from anywhere in the cafe without having to worry about finding an outlet. That's super cool and something I would love to see at more coffee shops. Overall a great experience and I'd love to come back sometime! read more

I had the brown sugar shaken espresso and it was great! Sweet but not too sweet and you can definitely taste the espresso. My friend had the matcha and she loved it. Really good coffee spot. A friend of ours recommended it. We drove 30min. Just to try it out since the wife and I love our coffee. It definitely didn't disappoint! Very clean place. Friendly staff. They have pastries, a huge selection of middle Eastern chocolate (which i would be getting some next time), and big selection of drinks and they also have nuts and stuff like that by the pound. Everything in here looked really good! But this time around we just came for the coffee. We got an Iced Blondie latte & an Iced Spanish latte. Both were really good. This place had THE BEST matcha. It is here where I tired matcha for the first time and LOVED IT. I used to always get the dirty matcha which is espresso added to a matcha latte they used to make it soo good that I would look forward to it. but lately I can tell they changed their matcha it is heavier (more concentrated) very artificially green. Even when I ask for drinks to be half sweet they are still sweet. I am not sure if they don't read online orders correctly but they are mostly always not made right. Last time I got a dirty matcha large half sweet it was still sweet and no espresso I took it back and told them and instead of remaking me a drink a guy (who seemed new) just brewed an espresso shot and poured it over my drink that was already old and watered down.. The place is so cute and the aesthetic and care they put into all the details is noticed. It feels high end but not in a snobby way. The staff is so lovely. The thing that I really loved is that they asked me for my Splenda packets so that they could "melt" them when they prepared my iced coffee. All the coffee here has the same bitter taste and seems that it's blended with cardamom. That's cool when you want an authentic Arabic/Turkish coffee but not great when you want a caramel macchiato or a brown sugar shaken espresso. There should be a regular flavored espresso that blends well with the syrups and the milk. Unfortunately, Al Hamawi missed the mark with this. My iced brown sugar shaken espresso tastes like a Turkish coffee was dumped into some ice and milk. The service was very good and they even tried to adjust my drink when I went back by adding more milk and sweetener to it but the espresso itself overpowers the entire drink and not in a good way because honestly the taste of the blend of espresso they use is the problem. The establishment itself is beautiful and you can tell a lot of hard work went into making this coffee spot aestheticly pleasing. However, there could be some major improvement when it comes to the coffee drinks. read more

I saw Al Hamawi on Google search and maps and clicked on the featured picture! Next thing I know, my daughter and stepson, and I are pulling up into the parking lot, and it's jam-packed!
