Decided to stop into Pekoe & Bean after passing by on my way to another stop. It's located in a strip mall but the inside is adorable with a homey/living room vibe, fun decor, and local art on display. They had a large main dining room with coffee bar to sit at as well as some back spaces to host events. They recently got new owners who are going to revamp the menu and offer more events to the community. Their menu was smaller but intriguing. They had great signature drink flavors that could be applied to different coffee style drinks. I got the Lavender Shortbread flavor as an iced latte and loved it! My husband got the Chai Latte which he wasn't quite fond of but they asked if he wanted cinnamon on top which was nice. Overall, coffee is their specialty and there's a reason why. I'm sure they have other tea drinks that may have been more favorable as well. I wouldn't mind coming back to enjoy a cup inside rather than to-go. read more

Checked out this coffee and tea shop in Tinley Park at lunch. It has a pretty chill atmosphere with some light classiness it seems. Pekoe & Bean is a longtime local favorite for breakfast and lunch too. A pretty simple menu great for groups. The prices are kind of high on a few items but it's great quality. Basic items are on the menu that are familiar. It's of course got coffee and tea. They have quite a variety. A lot of the classic favorites. Some unique specialties. It's about $6 to get a latte. They have a few of these. I got the Bananas Foster Latte. This is made with banana syrup. Also they have non dairy milks. The food menu includes salads and sandwiches. It's about $7 for a bowl of chili. This is vegan. Has quite a bit spiciness to it. This is a great one to warm up with. Also they have carrot soup which is great. They also have lots of pastries. Get great stuff at breakfast or lunch and enjoy it. It's open at breakfast and lunch. This is located on Oak Park Avenue at 171st Street. read more

This is a personal favorite of mine and my fiancé. The space is so cute with lots of comfy chairs. There is also art on the walls that is available for purchase. The menu is always changing so we've never had the same thing twice. I've enjoyed delicious coffees, pastries and savory dishes. They also serve high tea and have two private rooms. The only negative is the parking is limited but don't let that stop you from going. The staff is so kind. My fiancé and I move slow when we're here and they never rush us. read more

Pekoe & Bean has a cute ambiance. However, the customer service was lackluster. Everyone has an off day but the person that took my order did not seem like she wanted to be there. The whole situation made me uncomfortable. I ordered a pistachio matcha ($7). Within 10 minutes (after the picture), the matcha powder was at the bottom of the cup and I didn't taste any flavor. My husband and I went by here for a little coffee break. I got their white chocolate raspberry coffee which was fantastic. I forgot what my husband had ordered but it was some kind of mocha that was very satisfying. We weren't planning on eating there but noticed they had a mini charcuterie board. Not a lot of variety (expected since it's small) but still an exquisite variety. It included prosciutto which is pretty expensive. Recommend indeed. read more

Everything here is amazing! I love that she has a seasonal menu and it's always changing. I go here almost every day and I haven't found any coffee better in the area. Also love that she now does a grab and go - so for days during the week when I'm not feeling like cooking I can go and grab a meal and it's always healthy and fresh ingredients. read more

Ya'll this place is amazing if you love a little vintage atmosphere. From the antique plate sets to the vintage chairs, everything felt so quaint. The food was delicious, healthy, and filled me up even though it consisted of finger foods. Additionally, the drinks were tasty. It only made it more appealing by being in mason jars and cozy mugs. The business is definitely eco-friendly when it comes to using less plastic (dining in). Only downside was that the waitress didn't come over as often and my friend had to go up to her and ask for an extra spoon. Other than that, she was sweet and helpful! Everything was absolutely lovely! We ordered afternoon tea and it was delicious - better than some we've had at high-end hotels. The service was very friendly and attentive, yet gave us our space to talk. The ambiance was not pretentious at all and was visibly interesting, with all of the artwork strewn throughout. Have been wanting to visit here for a while but I needed to take someone who would appreciate it as much as me :) so last week I invited one of my girlfriends who loves tea as much as me to go with. I made the appointment for 1pm yesterday for afternoon high tea . It was a beautiful experience. We sat and chatted and laughed and sipped and nibbled. So we got 1 afternoon tea to share so we could both try everything and a pot of earl grey tea . There was a nice variety on the savory tier (the black bean tacos and the turkey pesto sandwich were our favorites). The middle tier had a regular scone and a blueberry scone with clotted cream and lemon curd . We both enjoyed both. The top tier was our desserts (the strawberry shortcake parfait and the cookie were both our faves. The tea room was quint, the ambiance was just right and the variety of tea cups was fun and unique. Absolutely loved it. The funny part is I came for my niece's birthday celebration and I think the adults had even more fun than the kids. This is the perfect spot for small celebrations. I could see at least 2 private rooms. Prices are reasonable and I thought the tea and coffee was delicious. I got the honey lavender cappuccino and really enjoyed it. I forgot what teas we had but they were all good. The food was good too. My least favorite were the scones but I ate most of everything else. The staff was attentive and very understanding even though we accidentally broke a dish. Went to this place today at lunch had a terrific salad with strawberries and walnuts, pears, and my bride had a frittata with vegetarian sausages, and she loved it. I had a cup of coffee and a small dish with a little cake and some fruit. The waitress was great and the environment was interesting . The owner obviously rated antique stores to furnish the place. It had a plethora of antique plates and glasses and cups and furniture. It was covered with peoples artwork on the walls that were for sale and the whole place. Lovely spot, I ordered the autumn salad with prosciutto, gorgonzola cheese and apples, delicious. Also ordered mini dessert and a coffee, mini dessert were just okay ice coffee was perfect I ordered the brown sugar cinnamon latte . Although the place was lovely the service was terrible the person that took our order was very unpleasant not welcoming at all . This cafe is absolutely delightful! I was there this past weekend (April 2021) with my family and it's a perfect 'girl's day' outing. It's fancy without being pretentious and our four year guest of honor enjoyed herself as much as grandma. Food was fantastic, coffee strong and everything was very 'Instagram-able' - they even have a cute floral photo wall. I also liked that they were flexible with my reservation and were kind enough to call me back when they said they would to accommodate us. Extra star for great customer service! If I had any change, I hope they get cocktails or mimosas on the menu at some point. That'd be top notch! I took my wife to P&B yesterday for afternoon tea. I ordered a Cream Tea; my wife had salad. The Cream Tea (scones with clotted cream and jam) was disappointing. The scones were old, stale and dense as rocks. The promised clotted cream was not clotted cream; maybe a mixture of cream cheese and cream or milk. It is not terribly hard to bake fresh scones and add real cream - why not do it right. read more

Incredibly disappointed with their reservation process. I booked a table for 2 over a month ago via their website, it allowed me to select the exact table I wanted so I picked my favorite table which also has bigger seats and more space accommodating larger people like me, the rest of the place is so cramped and is designed as if to say "don't get comfy, and if you're fat you don't belong here". So since I was able to book this table, I felt more comfortable and excited for my reservation. As we didn't want to feel rushed with their posted time limit, my husband to be on the safe side booked the next time slot too for the same table. As stated, these reservations were made and CONFIRMED by Pekoe's emails. This morning we arrive on time and the two hostesses try to lead us to a different table. I said "we made reservations a month ago for table 1". They said "we got a larger party booked so they get that table". I've worked as a hostess, server, and manager - I understand you want to prioritize larger parties but usually when a specific table has been requested it's for a reason and you don't just change it without communicating it to the reservation holder. Knowing that changing the first reservation location would mean our second one likely got bumped too, and I didn't want to have to move all my stuff all over the tea room and be made to be a nuisance taking up their space, I said to cancel the 1pm slot under my husband's name, we wouldn't be needing it and walked out. I did send a Facebook message to their page explaining all of this as well and why I'm so disappointed but as it's only been a few minutes I haven't heard back. I may update my review pending their response but it's unlikely. They've made it very clear that smaller parties don't matter even though we were prepared to get afternoon tea for two, plus some sides, multiple coffee drinks, and even lunch at the later reservation time to make up for the fact that yes we took up a lot of time - we were very prepared to make it worth their while in that sense. This is the second time out of 4 visits there that I've been made to feel so unwelcome, such a nuisance to their space, that it will take a lot for me to go back. I really enjoyed having a place literally across the street from my house that I could have a tea time at, and now it's so tainted. The staff needs to be trained to treat people like less of annoyances and more like paying customers. They also need to look at their reservation policies and not shuffle people around without at least some communication. Like I stated before, my review might change depending on their reply. read more

I am not a fancy coffee drinker. Their house blend black coffee is great. Smooth and no bitter after taste. The place it's self is well decorated and easily accessible. The staff is not only friendly but they treat people like family. The barista talked with a customer about the different teas the customers wife enjoyed and received great advise from the barista and what else to try. The menu is fresh the idea of the "coffee establishment" is old and just what a great town like Tinley needs. Bring back the coffee shops!
