Al Italiano is truly a neighborhood gem in West Hills, CA. My family, friends and I eat in and take out from this restaurant regularly. We are always welcomed warmly and seated comfortably. My mom has a walker and whenever we have dined at Al Italiano with my mom, the waiter moves a table to make it very easy for my mom to sit comfortably. We find the food delicious! We have eaten many dishes off the menu. The pizza is yummy, the spaghetti and meatballs are delicious, the eggplant and chicken parmesan are wonderful, too! But what I appreciate most is that at Al Italiano, the servers and chefs really want their guest to eat what they like. They are willing to substitute sauces, bake dishes to order (I really wanted baked rigatoni which was not on the menu but once I described it it was made for me) and split dishes to share. The restaurant is comfortable and the noise level is low. We will continue to eat at Al Italiano often. read more

Ten of us dined last night at Al Italiano Restaurant and we all had a wonderful experience. Eddie was our waiter--so personable and professional. My wife and I split a Caesar salad and the restaurant was extremely generous in the split. We then shared the delicious chicken parmigiana (huge portion) and their pasta with shrimp and artichokes in a cream sauce. Our group was celebrating birthdays and anniversaries and management was on its game providing wonderful desserts with candles and a serenade. Friends turned us on to this restaurant on a very very rainy night so the outside seating not open but we were able to reserve a nice table indoors as the restaurant pretty busy. My wife and I split pasta with sole that was very good and a salad, also tasty and we finished both and too full for desert. Eddie C an excellent server with a great personality and fun sense of humor. The service was great and I found the restaurant ambiance to be quite lovely, they even had a female vocalist which added to a nice dining experience. Unfortunately, even with all that great dining abiance, it was the food that cost them a higher star rating. The food for the price was disappointing, I guess l had a higher expectation, considering the the elegance of the restaurant. I ordered the angel hair pasta with marinara and the marinara sauce just seem to lack flavor. My entree just seemed quite pricey for what I felt was just an an average plate of pasta, disappointing. My husband ordered lasagna and it wasn't what he expected, it was drowning in some type of tomato bisque sauce. Just to add, soup or salad do not come with your meal. We have lived in West Hills for years now and never made it to Al Italiano. We finally stopped in and had a great experience with Brenda. They also had music on a Friday night which was a nice plus. We ordered the arugula salad, loved all the cheese but honestly probably too much. I would skip the pizza, a bit overcooked. The short rib sauce was tasty and the portion was large but not as tender as it could have been, probably could have been slow cooked some more. All and all, nothing amazing but a-ok for a local spot. read more

We were seated right in front of the singer, which added to our ambience. Brenda was a great server and very friendly. Food was ok; nothing bad, of course, but nothing really to rush back to for us. We had the Arugula salad ($14.99), a pizza ($24.95), and the Short Rib ($49.95). The salad felt a bit overdressed and overcheesedl the pizza needed more salt and flavor, and the short rib was a very large portion to match the price, but should have been more tender. We've been dining with the staff at Al Italiano since 1999 when they were at their prior location in Northridge. After the secured the new building in their present location, virtually the entire staff moved there which speaks to how ownership takes care of them. The food is always exceptional and the staff is marvelous. We also used them to cater an 120 person event in April 2026. Loved this local, family owned spot in the northern part of West Hills. We opted for the dog friendly patio which was roomy and off the street so the ambient noise is minimal. Large umbrellas in case it's sunny or they have a section that is covered. Inside looked nice too with an acoustic guitar gal playing on a recent Saturday night. The owner Robert and his staff are the most friendliest people you will ever meet. But our favorite has always been " Eddie " our waiter.
