Friends turned us on to this restaurant on a very very rainy night so the outside seating not open but we were able to reserve a nice table indoors as the restaurant pretty busy. My wife and I split pasta with sole that was very good and a salad, also tasty and we finished both and too full for desert. Eddie C an excellent server with a great personality and fun sense of humor. The only negative was that it took longer to bring the food to the table but that gave us more time to schmooze before eating.

I wish I could give AI Italiano more than 3 stars, sadly, just can't. The service was great and I found the restaurant ambiance to be quite lovely, they even had a female vocalist which added to a nice dining experience. Unfortunately, even with all that great dining abiance, it was the food that cost them a higher star rating. The food for the price was disappointing, I guess l had a higher expectation, considering the the elegance of the restaurant. I ordered the angel hair pasta with marinara and the marinara sauce just seem to lack flavor. My entree just seemed quite pricey for what I felt was just an an average plate of pasta, disappointing. My husband ordered lasagna and it wasn't what he expected, it was drowning in some type of tomato bisque sauce. Just to add, soup or salad do not come with your meal. We were invited by friends that love the food and the dining experience. We enjoyed dining ambiance and thought the service was great. We just thought the food quality was not worth price.

We have lived in West Hills for years now and never made it to Al Italiano. We finally stopped in and had a great experience with Brenda. They also had music on a Friday night which was a nice plus. We ordered the arugula salad, loved all the cheese but honestly probably too much. I would skip the pizza, a bit overcooked. The short rib sauce was tasty and the portion was large but not as tender as it could have been, probably could have been slow cooked some more. All and all, nothing amazing but a-ok for a local spot.

The calamari appetizer was the best I've had...so tender and served with a delicate marinara sauce. They had a great selection of specials but I went with linguini with clams because it's my favorite. It was delicious! Next time I'll get the sand dabs because they're always on the menu. The 3 desserts were necessary (don't judge me)! Flan, tiramisu, and such a decadent chocolate cake! I need 3 desserts always! Now...the best part was the service. I had forgotten what it's like to be at a restaurant with such professional service. Our waiter was great! Attentive service and recommendations. Food arrived promptly and was delicious. Absolutely no rushing us through the meal. I'm really looking forward to going back!

We recently celebrated a friend's birthday at Adagio in Woodland Hills and unfortunately left with…read morevery mixed feelings. To start with the positives -- the atmosphere is pleasant overall. It's a smaller restaurant with tightly spaced tables and an older crowd, but the interior is nice enough, even if not particularly memorable. We were seated promptly as our group arrived, which we appreciated. The appetizers were actually very good: the mushroom crostini and the Italian potato balls in arrabbiata sauce (not sure of the exact name) were flavorful and a great start. Later, the Caesar salad was also quite good, slightly tangy but enjoyable. Of the entrees, the Chicken Adagio stood out as the best dish -- well cooked with a nice lemon flavor. Dessert ended on a high note too: both the tiramisu and mocha cake were delicious. Unfortunately, the service experience overshadowed the food. Early in the meal, one adult in our party accidentally spilled a glass of wine that soaked the table. The owner/manager immediately reacted loudly with profanity ("F**k, just what I needed"), and instead of helping, walked around the table repeatedly complaining. No staff member offered napkins, assistance, or even basic concern -- despite one guest having wine spilled on them. After several minutes, we had to ask for a new tablecloth ourselves and even began clearing the table to help. The owner made additional rude comments about not being able to drink without spilling. When the busboy finally came, he replaced the tablecloth but did so angrily and literally tossed new plates onto the table. There was still no offer to replace the spilled wine, no replacement drinks, and no effort to make the situation right. It was extremely uncomfortable, especially since we were trying not to escalate things during a birthday celebration. For the remainder of the evening, the owner sat behind the bar staring over at the table, which made things even more awkward. At the very end of the meal he briefly apologized, but it felt half-hearted and far too late after the earlier behavior. The rest of the food was decent but inconsistent -- the penne arrabbiata was tasty though the pasta was overcooked, the chicken dish with it was also slightly overdone, and the bolognese was okay but not memorable. Overall, while some of the food was enjoyable, the hostile and unprofessional response to a simple accident made this an experience none of us want to repeat. Dining at a nicer restaurant should feel welcoming and relaxed, not uncomfortable or adversarial. Sadly, all seven of us agreed we wouldn't return.

Wonderful, Mother's Day weekend meal here!…read more A warm, rustic vibe, with tables, booths, a widescreen TV in the bar, and enclosed front patio. As a first time diner, I appreciated the warm greeting from our Maître d'. Our server, Anna, was equally warm. Fritto Misto - Calamari, shrimp, marinara - for the starter was cooked in a delicate batter and was one of our better fried calamari experiences. Next, we had the H.O.M. Salad - their version of an Italian Chop Salad. I subbed romaine for the spring salad mix and it was delicious. I had the Funghi pizza - mushrooms, prosciutto, truffle oil - which was, by far, some of the best pizza in the SFV -- thin, foldable and packed with flavor! My husband had the chicken farm which he liked. Drinks were good. H.O.M. Cake for dessert was a nice way to end the evening. A bit dry for my taste but my husband enjoyed it! Let the cake soak the ice cream for a moister bite. Looking forward to our next visit!

So disppointing. ah, where do I start?…read more The Space: Rather nice outdoor seating with covered or open patio with heaters that make a difference, decent table, yet since it is a street facing, you are basically watching the sidewalk, which is fine...Just that no one thought to move the trashcan sitting right across our table. Just not the best thing to think of when eating, different smells and such. Not hard to move it out the way. Maybe work it out with other neigbors, but, it needs to move. Inside looks lovely. I think we are on year 6, and man...while this place was rather the buzz years back, I have to update the food... Dishes: Sorry to say, but 5 out of the 6 dishes just flat out failed. We had the saltiest Gnochi, the sweetest ravioli with a sweet cream sauce AND reduced balsamic...that sauce is bad....ruined some decent raviolis. The Ceasar salad...How do you mess that up? Well, bad dressing and less attention to the details in ingredients, thats how, and they did indeed mess that up. Fusilli was OK. Not a lot to this to mess up and it survived. The Fritto Misto, for an Italian place was battered like the beer pub down the street, but the 2 pieces of chunky shrimp did taste good and 1 decent piece of calamari. The amount of oily breading on these is way grossly too much. What happen to "dust it on"?, Italian, Greek, and any European ocean side will hardly cake on any batter. There are 3-4 nice pieces and the rest are rather small weak calamari. Not too bad, but the batter is bad. Sauce was pretty much pizza sauce, not bad, but nothing to remember. Didnt have much of flavor, was Ok with the lemon. Good selection of drinks, which is a plus, Nice glasses of wine went well. SERVICE: (Or lack there of!) We got water, and drinks, and then got our starters in, but after the starters came, she was gone and never to return....As it felt. The starters were done, the glasses were empty, and tic toc...no order. Once a service brings starters, you want to be back pretty quick to check on the table, see if they need anything, and if they can place the main orders. Our table never got checked on regardless of the water pouring assistants who were flagged down. We finished and waited. Finally she did show up, we put orders in, and as expected we waited. Honestly, this night broke the back. Have no reason to return. I say this as $250 for a casual dinner is not something you can do just OK or less in. Only 1 dish had any meat in it, and that too was less than half eaten. In fact, all the dishes except the Fusilli were left with more than half their food. Not one peep of interest of why from the waiters. Just rushed cleared and its NEXT!

Paris, our server, was an absolute ray of sunshine. We decided to share a variety of dishes, which turned out to be the perfect way to experience the menu. I don't eat meat, but my fellow diners could not stop talking about the Braised Short Rib Rolled Lasagna. The Lemon Gnocchi was light and delicate, the beet salad was fresh and beautifully balanced, and the Crispy Squash Blossoms stuffed with ratatouille were absolutely delicious. The Cold Hamachi Aguachile was probably the most interesting dish of the night. It's almost like a fish snow cone, which sounds odd until you try it. My mom would call it "moreish" because every bite makes you want another. The Jumbo Prawns à la Plancha were also excellent. But the standout for me was the Eggplant Parmesan. It was completely over the top in the best possible way. If you told me to come back and order nothing but the eggplant and a martini, I'd happily call that dinner. What really stood out beyond the food was the pacing. Dishes arrived at just the right rhythm, the cocktails were excellent, and the playlist somehow added to the atmosphere without competing with the conversation. I took photos of everything, which should tell you how beautiful the food was, but the best part was simply having a genuinely fun evening with friends. Great food, great service, and a restaurant I'll absolutely be back to.

Last Wednesday, my friends and I sat at the bar, where Mike made our drinks (which were fantastic!) and took great care of us throughout the evening. It's rare these days to find a restaurant where employees remember their regular customers, but Mike, Alicia, and Sam always make us feel welcome.
